We just got new placements last week. They came to us from another foster family so they already had a lot of things. We let them help us make their beds and place their special toys where they wanted them. This video have given me some good ideas of things we can do as we move forward to incorporate them into our family. Thank you.
Wonderfully insightful advice. You are ‘empowering’ these kids. ❤❤. God bless you. I grew up in foster care starting @ age 6 & was also a foster parent. You need to go viral.
Print a photo of their special person, I sublimate and iron it onto a pillow case. Then the child can hug the pillow. It offers them a connection to family and a sense of security
Hey Christy Thank you for another awesome video! Had a respite last weekend and he loved cheese in his mashed potatoes. So we did it and really seemed to like it. I’m going to join your patreon group. Thank you for your wisdom!
One of the things I suggest wish I did it was keep a journal. Another good tip. Create utube video for the child, story time, video on respect, teasing, feels. All has helped us when we need it. For the parent is suggesting on utube” The Parent Junkie” she’s amazing, great topics that can help wirh so many situations. She’s on Spotify as well.
I’m actually watching this not because I’m fostering but because my fiancés 12 year old sister is going to be living with us soon (my father in law too) and she doesn’t know me super well yet. Her mother unfortunately is absolute garbage and is giving up on her third child, so we are taking her in of course and I want her to feel loved as much as possible. My fiancé and I are 22 years old and we’re taking in a 12 year old. I grew up an only child with a single mother so I’m quite nervous and looking for guidance.
@@lauralaforge558 still in the same place. My sil is with her dad still. My father in law really needs help, they are fine for now but she needs more care, love and more discipline. I’m looking to buy a home, one that is big enough for the 4 of us , but sounds like dad doesn’t want to move so we might just be taking her. It’s such an unfortunate situation for us and specially for her. I wish things were different.
