Glad you liked it. I try to pay it back for all the great "how to" videos that folks produce. It was a good call doing the repair, and keeping it simple, instead of buying a new lower. The repair has been fine and the seal is still rock solid. So, mission accomplished.
Oh boy! Good luck. My repair is holding up pretty good. It won't look perfect but will feel really smooth. The wet sand paper is key. But use high numbers.
@@smithgov it actually turned out really well! It looks really bad but it’s practically as smooth as the area around it. Rode it pretty hard over this week and it’s not leaking. Thank you for the tutorial, you’re a life saver for real!
@@mountainbikingfortherestofus well, i have been riding the same fork and it is running perfect. It had a service and the guy couldnt see no wear from the scratches
Unfortunately, my motorcycle fork tube got minor scratches which leads to leaking oil. One question. Does this method works on that too? Because im unable to find the fork tube alone, i have to purchase both front fork which is way too costly. And what if i use some more harder material, like metal glue or something in able to be more sturdy?😊
yea, if it is already leaking then you would need to replace the seals. After that this method should prolong future damage. Worth trying vs having to replace the whole darn stanchion. That was my thinking anyway.
@@mountainbikingfortherestofus not yet! Planning to buy an YT Capra preowned that has 3 “nice” scratches in the fork. Thanks to your vídeo now I know how to inspect them and solve them if they are not nice!

@@miguela.8929 glad it worked!
@@miguela.8929could you use a paint pen?
@@topspot4834 i think it needs to be something that dries pretty hard like epoxy or acrylic nail polish
looks fine , does the 'wipe' of the seal go up that high ? Dave NZ
On the first one, yes. But, since it is higher up on the stanchion it doesn't get a lot of action.
Did you notice anything after the repair. Unfortunately my scratch sits a lot lower in the travel but i will try your method.
So far so good. I could see the repair but it was very smooth to the touch.

A stanchion is pronounced stanshun, not stankshun
And jackass is still pronounced jackass...you jackass.
