Clean vs dirty chain cost about 30 watts. Then the difference lube you use can vary by about 15 watts.
I wipe my chain and shock slides after every ride. I rarely relube unless I rode in wet.
I prep my chains as follows. I grind a candle in the chain. I add chain lube thats mixed with PTFE powder on the chain. Then I put a flame to it to melt the wax into the lube to bond the PTFE powder. Works amazing.

You are a man after my own heart! 😄 How frequently do you perform this process. And, how frequently is it necessary to clean it? Is it difficult to get it clean, particularly after wet muddy rides?
