Defensive magic is so important to the craft, its a way to be a well rounded practitioner. I would love if you brought more of this "dark" side into your channel, its not shown alot and I feel saddened by that because not all of us are all positivity and sunshine.
I love that you pointed out that we should know how to hex, and that doesn't mean we ever have to use a hex, but we should know both sides of the craft. This makes so much sense to me.
@@lizardo134 yes! I ended up buying it as an ebook (not my usual approach) and it had a sample of the audiobook so I listened to it in the car. Not sure how I feel about audiobooks yet; ersonally, i tend to space out after listening for a while. I think I'll get better about it over time though - I have a long commute so the more books I can listen to, the better.
I like how you said light and dark do not equal good and bad. I feel like that's an important part to stress- especially to beginners. The shadow side or the dark side is always frowned upon or shied away from because it's viewed as "bad" but as you said, nature is a balance of both. We can't have one without the other; both are necessary. Just as within ourselves, we need to embrace both the light and the dark. I appreciate this book review, I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts. I also appreciate what you said about sharing your personal practice online. For some people that works and for them I say, all the power to them. I am like you in that regard, I shy away from sharing too much of my personal practice as I think that it can be confused with being passed off as the right way or only way to do things and I dislike that concept. I think yes there are a lot of things that have strict rules or structures in place, which are necessary, but then there are also many things that as a practitioner you adapt and apply to your personal practice and life situations. And I don't think that that can translate into somebody else's personal practice, neither should it.
I agree the way Olivia defines the differences between light and dark, and how they contrast good and bad is very important especially to beginners. And her personal life is also her own. So if she doesn't want to share it thats her own choice and I'm glad she keeps the majority of her practice to herself. It also kinda gives her a mysterious vibe lol
Even if you don’t feel comfortable sharing the darker parts of your practice, I’d love it if you made videos pointed us in the right direction (books, resources etc.) so that we can learn about and potentially incorporate darker elements of magick into our practice
I need this book!!! My practice and my life revolve around death, not in an edgy or sad way, I just hold things like Memento Mori close to me and I find that there is a lot the living can learn from death and the dead. Death is just as much a part of the world as life is, you can't have one without the other and that should be honored not dismissed or ignored. On a personal note, new moons are WAY more comfortable for me than full moons, I was even born on a new moon!
My practice has been about learning more of the basics but I’m also a sensitive and I’ve been death promotion in my family and I’ve always felt like somethings missing cuz I’ve always felt like my practice is supposed to be “darker “ and not all light an shit,
I was looking at getting this book a couple days ago so this was really nicely timed. Thank you for your insight, this has moved from a "maybe pick up soonish" to a "when I get paid" this definitely sounds like what I'm looking for
Yes, light doesn’t always mean positive, and dark doesn’t always mean negative! Plus, it’s all perspective! One might think something is negative that someone else thinks is positive, and vice-versa. 🖤🧡💛
It's nice to see someone who works with what I call the other side and being that witch, which I now understand why I was drawn to your channel and videos ( been watching your videos for a year, but this is my first time commenting). And yes there is a balance, and it is frowned upon within many Wiccan and Pagan communities ( cause they view it as "dark magick"), but in reality it's the most purest.
YES YES YES!!! Am sooo glad to see a young 24/25 year old, doing this type of Magick that has been pushed aside for so long, and this book is very well needed to bring back. Yes, most of my stuff is also thrifted /yard sales/end of the seasons sales. I also like to invest some of my tools of my craft purchasing from Witch Stores/Witches who make the tools and selling them to the community. So Yeah, I tend to have a little bit of everything, LOL!!!! I read the book from beginning to end and just really enjoyed it and it truly is a very easy to read and easy to understand what Kate Freuler wrote.
I read this book and it kept me so intrigued the entire time, I couldn’t put it down. Also a fantastic read is Dorothy Morrison’s Utterly Wicked… let me tell you this book is the absolute best. You should check it out if you haven’t already..
I have the book also but I haven’t read it as yet I want to get through my other books first. But I love it because it’s talks about blood something you barely see talked about in witchy circles
Exactly i just bought the book last month and have read a little bit in it so far i have been reading my Hands on Chaos magic book the same one she reviewed the green one i have been drawn to that rn for learnin in my path
I think it also matters where the knowledge is coming from. As certain regions practice differently as per their tradition. Also why specific animals are not sold around Halloween, in the U.S.
I can't imagine the pressures y'all content creators must be under to share more of your personal life/intimate craft, so mad props and respect to you for creating and upholding healthy boundaries. 🖤❤️ 🖤 -Blessings and support from Ohio
I’ve been very intrigued by this book. One thing I’d be more interested in hearing is the section on sacrifice. I think just this section alone makes me feel cringe as I don’t know what the author means to cover. I don’t like the idea of sacrifice in killing anything living but sacrifice can mean many other things so I’m curious what that section is in more detail. Loved the tea references ❤️
Probably one of the better videos I've ever seen on UA-cam on the topic. So many people start out focused so much on the light that they demonize the dark. You can't have one without the other. They define each other. Our souls are made of both and if you ignore the shadow or darker parts of yourself, they will find a way to the surface.
I really like that you reviewed this book - I personally have always been scared of the "bad" side of practicing, but as a person have always been attracted to the darker side of the world. So seeing that there are resources out there that talk and teach about the dark side without portraying it as evil is so inspiring! I for sure really want to check this book out and am excited to see how it affects my views! (Thanks also for being your awesome self!)
Solid review, I really liked that you showed the table of contents so we can get a better idea of what's inside the book. I would love if you did that for your book reviews in the future
Thank you so much for sharing! It is so great to hear other forms not just the hippy light version. Nothing against that but I try getting into folkmagic and older forms that are not as fluffy as TikTok magic. If you know what I mean. Love from germany.
OMGGGG I'M shook. I'm shook. I was listening around 5:00 and agreeing to myself saying "it's like in theravada. There is no good or evil or white and black. It just is." RIGHT BEFORE you said it and I'm..... I have chills fuck lmao. THANK YOU for this video lol. It's hard to find content like this and you are so appreciated.
I just stumbled upon your content, and the sigh of relief that left my chest, I don't even have the words for it. I am very isolated from other practitioners in my day today, so the only way I was exposed to others, and extra knowledge was through the internet, and so I thought I was alone. I thought I was wired, even among "my kind" so to say. And to find someone who, even if I am going off of fragmented information and general vibe, practice like me, or even just along the lines of what has always felt right to me is such a great relief for me. Thank you most sincerely
Olivia why are you so fricking cute🥺 okay it's very odd that I was just wanting to de-fluff my craft and being utterly sick of the love and light peddling in all the New Age stuff and needing something a little grungier. I thought.... do I go older? Books before the 50s so its not influenced by Wicca? This book sounds like a great place to start 😊 thank you
1) Just went to barnes and noble and bought 3 witchy books to start my practice because idk wtf I'm doing as an exmo atheist witch but here the hell goes. 2) I LOVED what you did cutting the music in and out as you wove between your trains of thought. 10/10. epic. xD 3) and THANK you for linking your music in the description. Much appreciated.
I feel this so much. I've pathworked many left-hand path traditions (Qliphothic for starters) and it's so frustrating to me how many books are wiccan based, strictly follow the rule of three, or gatekeep what's "good or bad". LHP and darker traditions aren't evil like RHP practitioners seem to think. They're darker and force you to face things you may not be ready for, but they're not bad or evil.
I love your personal view on the craft, we see things quite similarly. Although it is commonly said, life, the craft, etc. isn't all love and light. Would love to see more, even if it's example things without personal working affiliation. Keep being you!
I grew up in the Catholic Church, but have also been around the practice of magic/witchcraft (an aspect of Santeria), which is common for many in the Hispanic/Latin community. Despite me personally choosing not to practice, I watched some of your videos for educational purpose and believe you actually know what magic/witchcraft entails and coming from a place of knowledge. I’ve watched a few other videos from others and get the sense they don’t really know, or they haven’t researched all aspects of it. It comes off as too PC or sugar coated from them, not deep enough, as in not all there. That’s why I’m a little fascinated at those who say they don’t feel like they ‘fit in’ with the supposedly greater witchcraft community. As someone who’s seen practices with my own eyes, I know it’s not ‘glitter and rainbows,’ but at times can be dark, very dark. So I personally feel as if the trendy PC version of witchcraft is not that authentic, no offense! Yes, it’s trendy now, but the practice of witchcraft been around for probably thousands of years.
I'm coming back into witchcraft and taking a very slow approach to build my practice to my own needs, and this channel has been the most helpful. There's an oversaturation of hyper-posi content for pagan source materials in my area, and while that may work for many who don't like or don't want to include darker/more sedate philosophy within witchcraft, it's not a one-size-fits-all alternative for the rest of us. I will keep my eyes peeled for this book.
Thank you for this. I've had a very hard time trying to describe where I seem to fall on the "spectrum" of craft work, which also makes it difficult to find media that really speaks to me. When you said "folk practice" it clicked! I'd used that description before but somehow never really felt the impact of it until someone else gave voice to it.
I bought this book. Fits me to a T. I own 11 books on the craft but this one is right up my alley. Thank you for the suggestion. I enjoy listening to you. I saw where you were looking for a change. Please keep sharing info about the craft. You have been there for me and taught Me a lot. I know you don't know me but your very important to your viewers. We love you. Take care. Be careful on that pole, lol. Hugs
Olivia, this nearly brought me to tears. I’ve been practicing a little over a year now and I’m incredibly fortunate to have you, Marshall (TheWitchofSouthernLight), Austin (BanexBramble), and so many others! I myself am getting into folk magick, specifically Stregoneria and working with saints. I am very excited to buy this book and I am so thankful for you!
Thank you! I don’t know how I can stress out how thankful I am for this review. It was missing piece to my craft, now it all makes perfect sense. Powerful. Even I have found use to my black papier notebook :D Genius!
Defiantly going to order that book. A must have to add to my library. Also wanted to say you have a lovely singing voice, lol. When you were looking for the table of contents. You made me smile. You go girl....
I am really glad you made this type of video, as someone who has been Pagan since birth...people should also understand "darker magic". Not necessarily practicing, but understanding it to me is crucial. I have studied and worked with darker "entities" for mere experience, learning and understanding. But it's not for everyone...humans like to feel safe and there's nothing wrong with that (I suppose). Also Olivia I am excited to see what newer content you create unrelated to the Craft!
Thank you love, I feel so excited to read and also explore what comes more natural to me that most books don't have in them! Loved your perspective, felt you deeply. Grateful for your share
Holy shit Olivia! I need to read this book! It sounds just like my own craft. I spent so many of my years struggling to get information like that because so many people just want to focus on the light side of things. The core of my practice for over 15 years has always been balance between it all. No true good and no true evil. Everything is one in the same. I don't follow the 3 fold law, nor do I follow many wiccan based things. As a darker folkibased practitioner I am so looking forward to trying to get this book! Thank you for sharing this!
I’ve been eyeing this one, I’m so glad you reviewed it. This sounds like a great book as I love working magick with what I have on hand (even if it’s a little gross LOL) and also have roots in Wiccan based structure (that’s basically what was taught in most books in the 90’s) but shifted to a more folk magick practice as time went on, it just made more sense to me. Agreed, balance is everything in magick and life! Thanks for another great video!
This has been on my to read list since The Witches Box reviewed this, but your review has moved this up to the top of my to buy list. It sounds like this will be a similar experience for me, in that it may be something closer to my personal practice than most books tend to be, and that's an exciting idea. Thanks for the share.
Lovely footage. I like that you show us your outside self.. if you know what I mean. Would like to see more of that. The fluffy side of wicca has become stagnant and limited, and it's refreshing to hear someone talk about what the actual traditional craft involved more deeply.
This book seriously hit home for me too, it is definitely refreshing to see the energies more common to a practice like mine represented and talked about in less than a passing mention. It’s also nice to see multiple respected members of the online witchy community agree that this book is something that was needed! Thank you for the review!
I've had this book in my basket for such a long time and never actually pressed the buy button. I think it may be the time. I was afraid that it would be too fluffy even if it states that it isn't on the description. Glad you gave us an honest review! Much love x
Everyone's craft is so personal and when you look out into the night, it can and will look back. Most aren't ready for it and it isn't something to dabble with.
Just bought this through the link provided. Thank you for this review. I think your approach of not talking about what you do personally, how ever you lead people to water and you teach them to fish... Thank you again.
This is almost the exactly same opinion about this book that I shared in a FB group recently and someone pointed out this video to me. I absolutely connect with what you say here. Such terrific book! Take good care, and blessed be.
This sounds like a book I would enjoy. Thanks for the review. I work with bones in both my practice and my art. It’s refreshing to see a practitioner on UA-cam that isn’t all Love and Light. Glad to have found this channel.
My craft has changed so much over the years. It doesn't look the same at all. I put a lot of my craft into my art and working with new magical ideas that are for my healing energy or energy healing. My best work happens at night because I am a dark person. Blessed be 🖤🖤🖤
This book is gold and your review/video is perfection (as always, love all your content). I already commented on IG about how this book (still reading) and The Crooked Path by Kelden made me emotional and cry for all the good reasons. It was a huge validation for me and my practice, because I always felt like I was outside the fluffy "angels and light" holistic community in my country (something I totally respect but doesn't represent me and it's everywhere). It's so powerful to discover and navigate through the dark moon current!. I'm so grateful for your channel and for the authors who took the time and effort to share their knowledge and write these amazing books.
Olivia. THANK YOU SO MUCH! This is exactly what I needed. I do some ansesteral work and I have been have dreams and visions with vivid images of candles on skulls and animal bones. I think this book was exactly what I need to understand what I'm being told. Thank you for being so open about how you practice witchcraft, I am in a similar position so I find it comforting I am not alone. 🥰
Really loved hearing you speak on why you don’t share your practice on here, it’s kind of similar as to why I don’t speak too much on mine on my UA-cam channel. For me it’s private and sacred between me and my gods and not to be shared out to the world. This book sounded so cool too I sent this review to my coven sister it sounds perfect for her practice xx
I really appreciate this review as I feel very similar to you in the sense of not feeling very connected to most of the "magical community". Left and right people are shoving nothing but "light" magic into my face and "dark" magic is treated like it's completely taboo and that doesn't sit right with me at all. Like you said, they're not "good and bad", but people often separate them as if they are. I wonder if a lot of it comes from people wanting to make witchcraft seem less spooky to the "general public" or whatever, but it's important to acknowledge all kinds of magic instead of trying to dismiss so much of it as inherently bad or malicious- quite literally viewing magic as black and white instead of understanding the gray in it as well as knowing both sides are important. I hope soon enough I'll be able to add this book to my growing library though! I am a slow reader but I do love to learn and am always eager to learn from a good witchy book that is actually more my speed. (So basically whatever you review as good lol) Also, I am always completely mesmerized by your nails and your overall aesthetic/makeup/hair. Huge fan :)
I didn't buy this book based on a few if-y reviews on Amazon. I was going to purchase it alongside Planetary Magick, but ended up only getting that one. I'm changing my mind!! Your reviews have never failed me in the past. When you say a book is more suitable for intermediate/adept practitioners, I come running! Even after 10 years of practice, it's nearly impossible for me to find a book that isn't just 'the usual' on repeat - perhaps with a little flare, but that's it. As a lifelong bookworm, it's frustrating, and I've found myself spending more time desperately scowering the internet than tucked away with a true book in my hands. However, my favorite books that actually offer intermediate/adept information have all come from YOUR reccomendation. For that, I can't thank you enough!! 🥰🙏
Girl… GIRL!!!! I am a beginner, still in my research phase I have a MOUNTAIN Of books I have picked up to read before I do any spells or magic but this book is literally the one I cannot put down! Like you said in the beginning all the other sources I find of witches , I noticed they’re craft was very “warm, and fluffy” and it didn’t really vibe with me, (not saying that I’m trying to hex or sacrifice or anything) but the craft I am drawn to is definitely like yours. From what I was able to relate to based of what you said! YOU are the only witch I binge watch videos from (and the green witch!) Because you are here for beginners like me, (which THANK YOU BTW ❤️) so being able to hear that you too feel the way I do at the moment makes me feel better about the craft I am learning about and just knowing that the “teacher” I look up to is also vibing with that craft 😂 thank you for all your videos and all the hard work you put into them. I totally understand why ur craft is private and I admire that as well! Keep doing you, I love you 💕 sending many blessings your way. 🖤🤍
I need to get this book. Nature is all about balance. Yes, I like pink and sparkles and fluffy and cute, but I also love dark and spooky and spikes. I tend to have a black and white attitude about things, but I found out recently that’s a response to PTSD. I feel focusing on nature and what’s around me will help me deal with that and find that gray.
I’m Wiccan and my craft is built around those beliefs. But I love learning about things that are nearly the opposite of what I do so I can grow. I can’t wait to check this book out!
Oof I didn't know I needed to expand my library again but... you got me. I looked more into the book and she's goin in the shelf for sure. I've been tangoing with the idea of using menstrual blood in my practice for the past year but felt that "dark magic" shame thing so I was hesitant at first but I've been called to it for a while now. This made me feel WAY less chaotic lol.
I love the fact that the wanderlust witch explains why she doesn't record her personal craft and more so of a perspective to customizing a craft specific to your own personal self 💞🥰🌌🙌🌊🌲🌬🔥. I feel you know your self better than anyone and to take the value and moral and put your own twist and experiences means far more powerful outcomes for your specific intentions
To be honest, I wouldn't mind you sharing more folk/dark practices. I like learning different paths. If it wasn't for one of your videos, I wouldn't have been in alchemy. So thanks for all you do.
I love that you're reviewing this book!! I love it so much. I will re-read it soon. It's not your typical book, different in very good ways. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for things a bit taboo & dark; they're not bad things, just not for everyone. Great recommendation Olivia. XX
My partner is currently reading this! Picked it up a week ago and is blowing through it. It’s exciting to see someone discuss this part of the craft. I’ll definitely be forwarding this to them :)
You actually gave the video on topics I was interested in for a WHILE. I'm into folk stuff more too, because I'm not a person who likes to be doing something because something told me too it's more like..oh I feel it's time to go forward and work harder on stuff. I'm a beginner. I love your philosophy on the darkness and good side of things, darkness and light are the none separation of things. There are good people and bad, Sun and Moon. I loved the video! Definitely gonna check the book.
I loved this book, it spoke to the path I have grown up with since I was a child. I totally understand your reasons for keeping that boundary between the basic practice and your personal practice apart, I very rarely share this side of my practice with other unless I know they follow a similar path as some people really feel the need to attack you for it. I have always believed in and followed balance within my craft and this book definitely helps nurture that other side. It is one I am glad to now have in my collection.
this video is weirdly validating as someone who is definitely a witch, but i like sprinkling magic into my life. I enjoy honouring sabbats and not dedicating myself deeply and completely to a magical life or intense magic. Not the message you were trying to send but sitll nice to hear!
Just ordered this, thank you! I've been a witch and dabbled on and off since the late 90's. I consider myself intermediate just because of the vast knowledge and information out there to be learned. This book could not have come at a better time for me. Thank you for recommending it!
As someone starting in the craft I very much want all the information I can get and to make my decisions based on my own feelings about that information. So thank you so much for posting this video. It is the first time I have seen anything on the darker side of things. I want to at least know about that side even if I don't end up using it within my craft.
Love love love this book DEFINITELY has some not so widely accepted topics but it has great depth and very intriguing words read the whole thing in one day I was captivated. I’d love to get connected with some practitioners who love the light as much as the dark to work with and better understand some topics discussed in this book.
I’m really glad I clicked this video… I feel like it’s hard to feel comfortable with my own craft when so many other people seem to look down on things that aren’t necessarily “of light”… if that makes sense. I’m definitely getting this book!
Thank you! I love you. I love your videos. I am a Grey Witch and I practice traditional witchcraft and folk magic. I have been looking for new books and this one definitely sounds like I will love it as much as you do! I'm so excited to go get it now. Blessings! 😊
I've had this in my wishlist and been back and forth on getting it. I think when I go to order more books that I will order this one and the Crooked Path book as well. They both interest me and I have read over the years enough of the normal Witchcraft and Wiccan books. I am enjoying some of the new books that have came out. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this book.
I think you really hit the nail on the head with this one. Our cultural symbol set has assigned dark to "evil" and therefore something to be avoided rather than the true understanding that it's just something that's hidden from most normal view and requires an inward gaze to really understand. I work with chaos and trickster deities as well as hunting deities, and there's a lot to them that can be very violent in some views. But it's not cruel. It's the necessary violence of predator and prey that puts meat on the table or skins on our ancestor's backs. And I think as we've become so urbanized and disconnected from the land and nature and that aspect of deity in our life that we really don't know how to process it when we encounter it...or someone who walks that path between shadow and light.
Knowing your shadow is important, to know the things you are capable of. Not just beautiful things. Destructive things. Destructive to others and to yourself. Knowing your shadow is knowing yourself.
I am SO glad you reviewed this book!!! I've really thought about buying it, but I'm so cautious with books that delve into a darker path in witchcraft. So many are full of crap, and it's extremely frustrating. I am DEFINITELY getting this book!!!
I created a sequence with the likes 789! Also you stated something my spirit guides brought to me some years ago. “Nature is” it is something you hear but until you are at that moment of your path where you are truly ready to feel and accept the peace that lies with in that knowledge it will always be seen from an academic viewpoint. They also brought me the beginning of the knowledge that leads to infinite identity, “I am.” That all that matters because it says everything and a singular thing all at once.
Thank you Olivia for your insight on this book. I share your sentiment on theres too much fluff in the magick community and we dont fit. I want more shadow self awareness. Just like you said 'blessing and bane grows on the same stalk'. I ordered Blood and Bones and I think you might like this book I found at a local occult shop called 'Mysteries of the Dark Moon: The healing power of the Dark Goddess'. Its a beautiful introspection into the shadow into the darkness and the lunar symbolism that affects all aspects of existence. Thank you again for sharing this with us
I hadnt heard about this book but know im gonna have to buy it! sounds amazing and im always looking for some good books and resourses about shadow magic to keep incorperating into my craft which is already pretty dark to begin with. Thanks olivia for the info!
I am a beginner practitioner and the topics that this book covers are the things that I have been looking to research ever since I decided to start doing witchcraft. It was hard tho to find anything good online about this so I'm really happy to see that there is indeed a book I can check out about these topics. I feel like this type of craft would fit me much more than what I am currently practicing, even though I do enjoy what I am doing right now, I just felt like there was that something that was still missing to make my craft feel more like my own. The sad part is, that right of this moment, this book is unavailbable in my country so I'm gonna have to wait to buy it
I've certainly gotten my interest peaked with this. I've been finding myself drawn to folk practices, and as funny as it sounds re-discovering wicca has probably driven that (after, as Georgina said in her video with Nike, its a surprisingly good bridge from ceremonial to folk practice)
I find this fascinating!! Please give some more videos on this or more references. I have just ordered this book. I am interested in the darker side, including Necromantic Magick, Daemonolatry, etc. I recommend Stephanie Connolly Reisner's Keys of Ocat, Curses, Hexes, & Crossing, and The Preeeminent Curse..
I have thought Olivia that you are a realist. Ok. You just say it like it is. No fluf. I watch you because you talk straight up. Things just are. Black and White are terms but Nature is more. I like your necklace btw. This book... Yes I'd so much like to have it. Thank you !!! Love from Los Angeles 💗
Thank you for sharing a book that goes into using body fluids in craft. As a sidenote, I'm afab on testosterone so I don't bleed anymore and this might be the *only* downside to no longer menstruating XD I heard you say in the latest chat with Nike that you only read comments for like an hour after the video is up. I hope this reaches you: THANK YOU for what you're doing. Thank you for trying to find your own way and not just give us the same empty content we could find anywhere, and also just giving an example of maintaining your boundaries (keeping most of your craft to yourself). I struggle with boundaries: seeing people apply them firmly but with compassion helps me grow 💚 I'm here for more exploratory stuff 😃 I used to do ballet; I'd love to see videos related to how you choreograph, and art related in general. Or plants/nature. All the shadow stuff: I have many mental illnesses and I'm not scared of the dark :-) My aim is to grow; you don't grow without being honest with yourself. I get why you don't go there because most people indeed don't really want to go there XD But some of us truly do! If you want, bring on the videos about shadow work! 😃🖤
Defensive magic is so important to the craft, its a way to be a well rounded practitioner. I would love if you brought more of this "dark" side into your channel, its not shown alot and I feel saddened by that because not all of us are all positivity and sunshine.
Yes definitely
I too would like to learn more about defensive magic. I think it would be helpful.
Absolutely agree
WhiteRaven here on UA-cam! You'd LOVE her channel I'd feel.
I love that you pointed out that we should know how to hex, and that doesn't mean we ever have to use a hex, but we should know both sides of the craft. This makes so much sense to me.
Every time I tell myself: "okay, time to chill out on buying books" and now I'm buying this book 😅 🤦♀️
Don't feel bad at all, books are knowledge and growth. Get them all 🙂🖤
Same! This book has been on my "to buy" list for a little while. This video has moved that book to my shopping cart lol
Scribd helps, I see this book is available as an audio book!!
@@the_fae_witch1509 that's exactly how I look at it 😄
@@lizardo134 yes! I ended up buying it as an ebook (not my usual approach) and it had a sample of the audiobook so I listened to it in the car.
Your nature light / Moon kind you and her only sure the lunar magic Minecraft is death blood bone Shadow dark lunar and solar nature and spirit
My
My auto-correct is trying to kick my ass I meant to say my magic
Even if you don’t feel comfortable sharing the darker parts of your practice, I’d love it if you made videos pointed us in the right direction (books, resources etc.) so that we can learn about and potentially incorporate darker elements of magick into our practice
"Why am I describing it like a tea?" Because tea is life! 😉
Who else wants to advocate for more of Olivia singing while looking for something in a book? 😁
@@raelempyre7737 I also base my practice off chaos magick but I haven’t read Hands on Chaos as yet but hopefully in the future. Happy reading
@@geo5510 yea thats hella cool i believe in chaos magick string theory too
I think it also matters where the knowledge is coming from. As certain regions practice differently as per their tradition. Also why specific animals are not sold around Halloween, in the U.S.
I can't imagine the pressures y'all content creators must be under to share more of your personal life/intimate craft, so mad props and respect to you for creating and upholding healthy boundaries.
🖤❤️
🖤 -Blessings and support from Ohio
So nice that this book gave an opening for us to know you better. Your followers are further blessed for it, today.
You did it again, now i need this book lol it was in my wish list, now it’s on my WANT list haha
This book sounds like a great place to start 😊 thank you
i'm a French witch, and this book it's one of my favorit from my personal library
1) Just went to barnes and noble and bought 3 witchy books to start my practice because idk wtf I'm doing as an exmo atheist witch but here the hell goes.
2) I LOVED what you did cutting the music in and out as you wove between your trains of thought. 10/10. epic. xD
3) and THANK you for linking your music in the description. Much appreciated.
I clicked faster than my hair dried and got curly
This part made your magic stuff sound real, that made me feel comfortable.
You have been there for me and taught
Me a lot.
You singing about looking for the table of contents is so cute ❤
"It talks about the things we don't want to look at...."
My Scorpio Rising Self: BRB, going to purchase asap.
Oh and your little singing breakout is adorable lol and sounded pretty
6:18 Your singing was gorgeous! 🤩💙
Update! I did end up buying this book and it hits everything I never knew I wanted in a book, I'm so glad you did this review!!!
Thank you for sharing so much about your secret self, Olivia! I found a white tail deer's jawbone I am enchanting to detect truth and discover lies
I just got the audio book... This is in line with my practices
I didnt know you sing so well!!!! It would be very nice if you would sing here too. (if you want, that is). Who else wants more of singing olivia?
Thank you! I love you. I love your videos. I am a Grey Witch and I practice traditional witchcraft and folk magic. I have been looking for new books and this one definitely sounds like I will love it as much as you do! I'm so excited to go get it now. Blessings! 😊
I'm slowly working through this book, and so far I'm absolutely loving it!
And I think as we've become so urbanized and disconnected from the land and nature and that aspect of deity in our life that we really don't know how to process it when we encounter it...or someone who walks that path between shadow and light.
random note but your necklace is absolutely gorgeous!
Knowing your shadow is important, to know the things you are capable of. Not just beautiful things. Destructive things. Destructive to others and to yourself. Knowing your shadow is knowing yourself.
We need more voices like yours. Love your videos!
This book has been in my wish list for a while, thanks for the review!
Personally, as much as I love the cheery side of magicks, I want more. Fluffy happiness is not enough. I want a broad understanding
Yes! Thanks for touching on the stuff I do. Fluffy bunnies are cute and make good offerings. 🤣
Thanks, Olivia, for the frank, honest book review. This one is now at the top of my wish list.
As a sidenote, I'm afab on testosterone so I don't bleed anymore and this might be the *only* downside to no longer menstruating XD
I heard you say in the latest chat with Nike that you only read comments for like an hour after the video is up. I hope this reaches you: THANK YOU for what you're doing. Thank you for trying to find your own way and not just give us the same empty content we could find anywhere, and also just giving an example of maintaining your boundaries (keeping most of your craft to yourself). I struggle with boundaries: seeing people apply them firmly but with compassion helps me grow 💚
I'm here for more exploratory stuff 😃
I used to do ballet; I'd love to see videos related to how you choreograph, and art related in general.
Oh my lawd! That cemetery scene was beautiful ❤️
