I've always collected trinkets, rocks, bones, everything I could fit in my pocket that "spoke" to me ever since I was small, looks like it was for something after all.
I just recently started building something called a “junk oracle” and it’s very similar to this. As someone who struggles with ocd, this is a much better form of divination for me than tarot or oracle cards. I have been reading those (cards) for YEARS and I still can’t remember the meanings and have to look it up and it makes me feel inefficient. Now for this oracle I am able to just…. Read without having that gnawing feeling to know what each thing means perfectly, to feel sufficed. Lol. Thanks for this video. Now I found a different term for the “junk oracle” I read about in a book that I instantly connected with.
idk if it helps, but tarot cards don't have read be by their "official" definition and a lot of the cards have different meanings for me that don't match what the booklets say. When I started reading again as an adult I started off by reading a beginner book on tarot that suggested you try to intuitively determine what each card meant before looking up the definitions so that you can compare them and see which resonates with you better. From there I learned that some readers don't use the predetermined definitions at all and read them intuitively every time, maybe that would work better for you? I'm some where in the middle where a lot of the cards mean something unique to me, but once I've decided a card means something the meaning stays.
When I started following this channel all those years ago, I started learning Osteomancy at the same time. Over the last two years, I've ramped up my study and practice with them. It touches a really special place in my heart to see this video, thank you so much.
I put a silver bangle in my kit, and when I throw everything, I pay attention to when things are inside the circle or touching the edges. It's helped me to focus where my eyes go first in a reading.
I have a tendency to gatekeep myself when it comes to new parts of the craft, but you make everything seem way less intimidating and more open to everyone. Thank you for the nice vibes!!
In my hoodoo tradition throwing bones on a white cloth/sheet or on someone’s feet usually the person we’re throwing bones for and this can be for many purposes 💙
My tribe (kaurna, native Australian) use feathers and stones along with our bones, Magipies are actually symbolic to our tribes so I'm loving how you call it 'magpie oracle'. To my people Magpies are the ones who lifted the sky and brought light to the darkness, they are messengers and bringers of success X Different tribes do it differently(or dont do it at all, hell not even all kaurnas throw bones) , my grandma went a little further used a painted cloth to throw them on, it was painted to orient with a compass. Too bad she died when I was little, wish I knew what benefits it provided to her readings.. Im reading Of Blood and Bone by Kate frueler and that has a section on bone throwing that I have yet to get to but judging by how in depth the rest of the book has been, it's going to be very helpful.
As a lifelong learner sometimes I forget how creative the Craft really is. Thank you for reminding me of that with this video. I personally cannot wait to give this a throw!
I’m thrilled to learn of a throwing divination that doesn’t involve bones or animal parts! I’ve collected random things my whole life (everything to glass or metal or broken jewelry off the street, to rocks and feathers and dried plants, to small toys or coins) and I’m really looking forward to utilizing my *hoard* in a way beyond decoration🌿
As someone who’s been throwing the bones for years, I want to add that there definitely doesn’t need to be a specific meaning ascribed to each bone/piece, and often it’s better if there isn’t. While some of my pieces do have symbolism I’ve attributed to them, many don’t, and are read by me simply by the places they fall and their relation to other pieces. It’s a very intuitive form of divination and as such, the pieces you use shouldn’t have rigid meanings. For instance, I have some pieces, a broken jagged bone for instance, that typically speaks of a threat or some sort of danger. However, during some readings it speaks in a different way. Sometimes I sense it speaking of hurt or even protection. It’s good to have a general sense of what some specific pieces usually speak of, but to confine them into one meaning can really restrict a reading. Other bones of mine have no specific meaning at all, and are only read based off their position or the shapes they make or whatever they speak of at the moment. Often they land in very specific and telling patterns, which can be very informative. They don’t each need a personal meaning. Plus, it’s very hard to ascribe some attribute or deep meaning to a simply bone, that doesn’t speak of that energy at all. Of course, bone throwing is a very personal and again a very intuitive form of divination, and each person will throw the bones a bit differently. Some may find that having a very specific meaning for each piece works better for them, and if so, I’m glad they’ve found something that works! But I personally don’t prefer it, and just wanted to share my opinion for anyone who’s new to throwing the bones or who is interested in trying it!
@@butchncasey glad I could help! If there’s any questions or advice you might need in regards to bone throwing I’d be happy to answer to the best of my ability. I know it’s a pretty unique form of divination so it can be hard to find other people to talk to about it, so it’s something I’m always open to talking about!
@@Social_squad are you asking if the bones can tell you about others lies or if they can lie to you? The way you worded it seems like you’re asking if the bones can/would lie to you, and if that’s the case then no; or at least they shouldn’t. A bone thrower has a deep connection with their bones and respect for both their bones and the universe, and it’d be incredibly unusual for the bones to lie to you. The only way I can see that being the case is if you simply misinterpreted what the bones were saying, or at very worst, had ill intent and the bones and universe rejected your reading (even in that case tho I highly doubt a reading would be a genuine lie, unless there was some actual meaningful reason in lying). Possibly the bones could lie to protect you?? But from my own experience and what I’ve heard from others I’ve never heard of the bones genuinely lying before (just sometimes not answering). If you have a reason to believe the bones are lying to you, or a reason you fear that, I’d love to hear more about your experience so I can give a better answer! And if you were simply wondering if they can tell you if someone else is lying then yes, they definitely can. The bones don’t always like to answer such direct questions though, so it may take practice and deep understanding of your set and how to read them to get such a specific answer. I find that asking a question that isn’t hyper specific but not too vague is the way to go (for instance, I had a friend ask about their future and got an empty reading, but when she then asked about the future of her housing situation and I threw them again there was a very clear reading)
When I was little I was obsessed with Lps and dolls and little things liked that and so when you said I could make my kit out of anything I sprinted down the hall and I’ve been in the attic finding old doll accessories and things for over an hour.

I remember asking an eraser for answers in middle school, I'd 'quiz' it on things and it got it right everytime when it could 'see' what I asked about. Also dice for mostly yes and no. Dice worked better than a pendulum for me but I never thought of the similarity until now.

@@leicean Hi. I find this fascinating! but Ive never heard of it before. Could you tell me exactly how you did it when in middle school? like what type of eraser/what you did/how you asked/how it answered? ect?
@Daniel I see that they never responded and kids in my school did this too so I figured I'd explain. It would be one of those pink rectangle erases and one the wide flat sides you'd write yes or no. One the skinny sides you'd right either maybe or idk. Then you'd just flip the eraser and what ever it landed on was your answer.
I've always wanted to know how to do these and learn more about it. I really appreciate your videos. They're so well explained and beautiful camera work
Just has my first ever bone reading today (also first reading of any kind) and I get home to see my favorite witchy UA-camr has just released this video.

I've been collecting my magpie oracle for a while now but I didn't really know what to do with it. Thank you for this video. Now I am inspired to sit down with each item and feel what its meaning or significance is and try my hand at it.
Thank you so much for your time. This is really gonna enhance my spiritual journey. I love being eclectic and creative. Sending positive energy your way.
This is one thing I haven’t started yet, but your video has got me excited about starting. I can already think of several trinkets I can use. Thank you!
I love this! I saw this about a year or two ago and really resonated with it. I also saw one of the online tarot readers on UA-cam that I actually trust used a bunch of charms for a video or two to get a clearer reading and I've always thought it was so cool. I completely forgot about this video until recently when I was looking through an online jewelry shop and saw they had their own unique charms and I thought, I could use those for my own readings. I've felt really drawn to it again ever since, so I think I'll be starting my own kit soon with those cool charms!
I was so excited to see this video, even if I had to put off watching it because I really wanted to sit and take notes. But it was a big help. I do want to get into bone throwing (though I am IN LOVE with calling it Crow Oracle myself) but was always hesitant because I just genuinely don't have access to bones. Mostly because I lack the means to clean things I find. But using trinkets I have and have collected or received over the years with a few bone pieces purchased from reputable vendors seems like it could work out. Particularly if I treat building a relationship with it like I have with my runes. Thank you!
I think I might dig out an old monopoly set that’s been in my family for years. The metal items like car, iron etc would be a great start to my Magpie kit....& each family member other than me is deceased now & they all had a favourite monopoly piece to be so it will have ancestor links
I also use a rabbit skin for my divination mat. I use it for tarot as well! I've been collecting bones for a while but only recently been putting together the throwing kit
Having the opportunity to listen and learn this from you on the retreat has enhanced my practices in Divination. So glad you made this video. Thanks for sharing with us O💕
When I first saw this video in my suggestions I didn't think it would be something that I would be drawn to at all, but after watching your video I discovered that this is exactly the sort of thing I'm interested in. Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad I was curious enough to watch this even though I wasn't sure how much I'd like it :)
Congratulations on 400k subs I love your videos, you are my favorite content creator and I’m super proud of your progress all these years 🥳🥳🥳 I recently re-watched an old video of yours and in it you said that you don’t cast a protective circle, could you possibly explain a little more on that topic? what you do instead, or why you don’t do it etc
This is coming at an amazing time because I’m starting a charm casting bowl for myself. I started collecting things a while back so I’m excited to see how things shake out.
I love this idea! My first High Priestess had a similar practice, one using tumbled semi-precious stones, and the other with painted tongue depressors. You’ve inspired me to take out my “Rune Stone” kit and resume practicing. Great video, thanks!
Ya know, I thought I didn't need this video cuz I don't throw bones......but you mentioned collecting random trinkets as a child. I have definitely done that and, hell, I still do! Lmao! So thanks for this info!
I've been reading oracle cards for years.. (I've had the same deck for almost 20 years now!) And as much as I love it, I've been looking for another way to do readings, and this video just popped up first thing. It's so perfect because I just got some bones a few months ago (and I wasnt sure why at the time), and I have so many little trinkets I dont know what to do with. I can't wait to put mine together. Thank you for the inspiration! Your videos are divine 💜
Thank you so much for this. This entire video opened up something I had locked down inside of me - that personal connection. Also, please please please share where you got your earrings. They are *beautiful*.
Incredible video. I appreciate the energy and time devoted to your content. I've been a proud follower of yours for a very long time. Can't express this enough; thank you Olivia. ^_^
Thank you for this awesome video! This is such a wonderful divination practice, and I'm excited to put together my own magpie oracle! I have a spare bag/pouch that I previously planned to use for herb collection, but it looks like it's going to be my magpie oracle bag. I already have one piece: a small heart locket thingy that I received as a gift way back in elementary or middle school, I think. I never used it (I didn't have a necklace chain small enough to fit the locket, plus the latch is so weak, it won't stay closed, so I could never hope to put anything in it), but I kept it for some reason (maybe because it's pretty?). Now, I finally have a use for it!
I’m reading Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn as I begin my practice again after years away. I haven’t been feeling as connected to Tarot or pendulums anymore, and I do feel called to rune casting, bone throwing and using something like a divination coin for yes or no questions. I feel like my brain and spirit will work better with these methods and over time they won’t be as overwhelming. Thank you for this beautiful video.
This was such a great video! I started a charm casting set but I think what you described with a magpie oracle will fit me far better 😁 love your content! Have a great rest of your week!!!
very very very new to all of this! am somewhat intimidated about all of the ways that you can use, my sister is in the craft and I am drawn to some of the physiologies. but altho I am curious and would like to venture into the craft, I am also rather timid and reluctant! I do love your videos and I think that I have learned alot from your videos! thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
This is all very new to me, so I’m excited to get started! I find it very interesting how a form of it was found in the Bible; just reiterates how it’s all connected.
Thank you for this video!!! I’ve been putting together a bone throwing set, but have been unsure which bones (I’ve collected from the woods for years) and what else to include. I do have a bunch of old random trinkets, but haven’t discovered meanings in them. In general, my intuition is not very strong, and I have anxiety, which makes me second guess myself and agonize over doing things “perfectly.” This has kept me from just jumping in and practicing with what I have, not having distinct meanings for each piece. Anyway, looks like I’ve got some meditating to do! I was also gifted a rabbit hide that I’ve been thinking about using for this, but part of me wants to use a hide I’ve personally collected. (I’m not very practiced at tanning yet, and most of my hides are chipmunks-too small for the purpose, but I guess I could sew them together.) I noticed you have a couple small bones that look the same. Do they have different meanings to you?
Hey, I literally just made some bones, and I was looking for an Osteomancy video. Thanks for this video, I’m going back to watch this video, love you and your videos since 2019🖤🧡🖤
Thank you for making this video. I didnt know about this form of divination, and im going to put together a magpie collection now!! (Slowly though). Im excited !!
Perfect! I'm almost done gathering my set and needed some more information. I would love more information about the actual throwing and reading process.
I explain it a title towards the end, where it’s just learning the pieces individually and then correlating with where they fall, what is near them and how they fall.
Greetings!! Wow this video was amazing, thanks for sharing your insights on how this works! I'm looking forward to creating my out little kit. Much love and light ✨️ to all✨️💫💜
The 'Chinese clareomancy' featured in this video belong probably to a different category than 'throwing the bones'. While the anime show throwing what seems to be parts of animal limbs into the fire, in history ancient Chinese priests and nobles were more likely to use turtle shells, for turtles are regarded as an auspicious animal with its longevity. In practice this divinatory method relies more on burning rather than throwing. Turtle shells produce cracks when heated, and ancient Chinese priests would interpret the form, feature and other details along with the crackling sound of fire to dicipher future occurences. Therefore, it's quite a different practice than 'bone throwing' and 'magpie oracles', which reads the relative positions of distinct animal parts and symbols.
There set versions of bone throwing, Mongolia has a version with specific bones that look like various animals. I don't do magpie, but I'm a fan of lithomancy, with is throwing stones.
ive started my kit. so far i have a rose quarts shroom = love and joy. a cool rock that means stability and knolage. and a funny looking bone fragment that means adventure and exitement
Watching this video right now made me realise how real divination is. I didn't know about this particular section before; but i have a collection of small charms and trinkets that would seem useless together, that i have collected since i was a child. So i guess they do have a purpose now😂✌🏻.
I have this strange thing where I find buttons EVERYWHERE I GO and I am compelled to save them I have so many and I know every one . I think the universe has been creating my collection for me.
How do you get a bone throwing kit? I always figured I could eat a whole rotisserie chicken and use the bones to do this lol, but if there’s a more respectable way to obtain bones I’d love to know!
I've always collected trinkets, rocks, bones, everything I could fit in my pocket that "spoke" to me ever since I was small, looks like it was for something after all.
Me, too! I've always kept a jar of seashells, rocks, and dried nuts on my dresser since I was little. Now I know!
"May your gods treat you as you have treated others" is such a raw, powerful prayer. I'm gonna start using it. Thank you!

I use charms for my magpie oracle it's so much fun and inspires me to be creative and introspective. Great video thanks for sharing Olivia!
That's what I was thinking of getting!
Having the opportunity to listen and learn this from you on the retreat has enhanced my practices in Divination. So glad you made this video. Thanks for sharing with us O💕
This is crazy timing i was looking into bone throwing this week, so thank you
When I first saw this video in my suggestions I didn't think it would be something that I would be drawn to at all, but after watching your video I discovered that this is exactly the sort of thing I'm interested in. Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad I was curious enough to watch this even though I wasn't sure how much I'd like it :)
Omg I was looking into this a while back! I love that you made a video on it! It got me back into it! Thank you!
Congratulations on 400k subs I love your videos, you are my favorite content creator and I’m super proud of your progress all these years 🥳🥳🥳
I recently re-watched an old video of yours and in it you said that you don’t cast a protective circle, could you possibly explain a little more on that topic? what you do instead, or why you don’t do it etc
Very informative video! Beginner at bone casting I purchased mine and waiting for it because idk a thing about it but I find such a connection with it
This is coming at an amazing time because I’m starting a charm casting bowl for myself. I started collecting things a while back so I’m excited to see how things shake out.
I just got my witches box with throwing the bones book and a bag. I'm thankful that you made this video
How timely, I just got my first charms for casting yesterday! Thanks for the video!!
Incredible video. I appreciate the energy and time devoted to your content. I've been a proud follower of yours for a very long time. Can't express this enough; thank you Olivia. ^_^
I love this video! Intuitive reading seems so scary to me but your kit is stunning. I'm tempted to start collecting bits and bobs of my own now...
This was a video I needed to see! This method seems to be right up my alley! Thanks for posting this ❤️
I’m reading Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn as I begin my practice again after years away.
Have a great rest of your week!!!
i have so many trinkets and bits and bobs i found in locations and i think this is a perfect way to use them !!
so glad you made this video, i was just wondering about getting into bone throwing
Mi hermana!! i love this!! thank you for showing the world this craft and if im honest adding to my own lol. the ATLAB was a nice touch.
Simular to coffee reading for sure .. I read signs in all clouds shadows and how the weather shows up.. this is cool thanks 😊
Thank you for opening the door and leading us to independence regarding the practice. Kuddo ! :-)
Halfway through the video and it’s great!!
Informative food for my curiosity!
Thanks
very very very new to all of this! am somewhat intimidated about all of the ways that you can use, my sister is in the craft and I am drawn to some of the physiologies. but altho I am curious and would like to venture into the craft, I am also rather timid and reluctant! I do love your videos and I think that I have learned alot from your videos! thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
I rewatched this after getting my October witches box subscription and the practice and play element makes more sense now.
Thank you so much for mentioning the casting of lots in Scripture!!
Holy Hel, I know I'm late, but this is the itch I've been needing to scratch in terms of divination. Thank you so much! I can finally put words to it!
This is all very new to me, so I’m excited to get started! I find it very interesting how a form of it was found in the Bible; just reiterates how it’s all connected.
Love this! Would you ever do a video on foraging for bones?
That would be awesome!
Oh wow. I was hoping that you would do a video on osteomancy and magpie oracles some day. Thank a lot for your constantly great content. 🖤🙏🏻
Thank you sooo much for this Olivia I am going to begin my kit in the morning xxx
Never sae this cleromancia, i will study and practice, really intristing!!!!
Thanks and hugs from brasil 🇧🇷 🤩🤩🤩
I love divination but have only really used tarot and tea leaves--I can't wait to try this!!🖤
I have the exact same turtle charm! Also from my mom when I was a kid. And it also means luck to me. So crazy!
Amazing video!! And congrats on 400k subscribers!!!
Wonderful overview of this subject.
You are literally my favorite pagan channel!
holy shit how crazy to see how many followers youve gained since i last checked in :o go crazy!!
This came at the perfect time, always learning from your content ❤️
I'm so happy to watch this video!!
Love this video! This really speaks to me, I'll have to start a kit of my own. Thank you :)
Thank you so much for this I had a friend that curious about this!
I enjoyed this because I've just recently started doing this with unique stones Im drawn to. Just didn't know it had a name💜
Watching this video right now made me realise how real divination is. I didn't know about this particular section before; but i have a collection of small charms and trinkets that would seem useless together, that i have collected since i was a child. So i guess they do have a purpose now😂✌🏻.
Totally enjoyed this video! Bless ya😇
Thank you! I'f love to see more videos about this! Do you insert a protection grid if you don't use a mat?
finally, a use for the small pouch of trinkets I carry with me at all times
This was very interesting to learn about, thank you for sharing!
As always, wonderful video, thank you.
I have this strange thing where I find buttons EVERYWHERE I GO and I am compelled to save them I have so many and I know every one . I think the universe has been creating my collection for me.
thank you for sharing this video with the world
Hello! Fantastic video! I have a question tho. When you read for a person… who throws the trinkets -the reader or the client?
How do you get a bone throwing kit? I always figured I could eat a whole rotisserie chicken and use the bones to do this lol, but if there’s a more respectable way to obtain bones I’d love to know!
