Sleepless nights over your wedding dress are not silly at all! I didn't even make my dress (was very much a beginner then!) and i still had so many nights when dresses just raced through my mind!! I ended up going with a really full skirted design and I felt AMAZING!! Have fun with your different toiles! X
Hi Rosa, I have just made the Lander pants in purple velvet & I love them. I did the size 4 & I'm normally a U.K. size 10. They are a perfect fit as they allow a larger seam allowance on the hips for adjustment. I think the 6 would be too large for you (judging this on what you have said before). My daughter thinks my velvet Landers are super 70's cool & they've been so warm during our recent snowy days. Look forward to seeing yours. Love your channel, I get so much inspiration from you. I made my own wedding dress (24 years ago!!!), & really enjoyed the experience (a true labour of love!), hope you enjoy making yours
OMG I love the idea of velvet Lander pants. They would be so groovy and cool. Thank you for your tips on sizing too. It's good to hear you enjoyed making your wedding dress and it wasn't too stressful. I've got the fabric now so hopefully I can get started soon :)
That Liberty fabric is gorgeous. You are very brave making your wedding dress but how wonderful that it will be all your own design and taste, and frills of course :)
I'm so excited to see your wedding dress once it's done after the wedding!! Also, for the lovely Liberty fabric i'm imagining either a Nina Lee Kew dress or the Mimi G Jessica dress!
California in April is stunning and you'll look so sunny in the yellow dress. If you need a fabric enabler, I'm in Orange County and I'm really good at rationalizing merino jersey and linen from The Fabric Store
I love seeing/hearing about your sewing plans because your style and aesthetic are very different from my own; you can definitely pull off the cute, flowery, ruffles-and-bows looks! =) And I am happy to know that someone else is digging into their well-aged stash. I get a bit frustrated when people seem embarrassed about their stash, but all the fabrics are like a year old or even less (it's like hearing a thin girl complain that she needs to diet). I have some fabrics that could drive and vote... Trying to work through them - they make wonderfully guilt-free muslins/toiles since I don't have to worry about ruining anything or tossing them if they end up being complete wadders. Hope you have a lovely trip to California!
I definitely have some old ones in my stash haha! I loved going through my mum's when I was a kid- she had some beautiful vintage fabrics which were so inspiring just to look at
I would suggest going to try on numerous wedding dresses with your mum, friends. My daughter got married last June. She looked for ages at various pictures of wedding dresses and decided on a white fish tail lace and beaded dress.Very ethereal and beachy. The headdress was going to be delicate and in crystals . This is definitely what she wanted. After trying lots of dresses in various wedding shops she got married in a designer blush 1950's tea dress in dull satin and lace.A blush veil with fabric flowers cascading down and blue quirky shoes. She looked stunning. So,I'd go and have a look, take a notebook with you and try on loads of dresses.
That sounds absolutely beautiful! Everyone has said to meet try lots of dresses on as you often end up with something completely different to what you imagined you'd want, I guess because we are not used to seeing ourselves in formal wear!
Love the liberty floral fabric, I like that it is a larger print. Your toaster sweater is lovely. Is the fabric a new purchase or from your stash, it looks so snugly. So many exciting plans for your wedding dress, hope you will have enough time😱
Sew (lol) excited for you, your top is beautiful, can't wait to see your finished dress in the future, but I love that you share your thought and planning progress, (very kind of you), your such a pretty girl, you look cute in everything, yes frills are delightful, almost 60 I don't think I can carry them, but I can always sew for daughters and someday maybe granddaughters, I love love frills, heirloom sewing and girly things.
Love the idea of the yellow linen dress, but curious how you wear linen as a dress without it being a HUGE wrinkled mess? I mean u sit down once and its all over. Do you have any tips?
The meet up sounds great, are they a regular thing, and I'm wondering if oldies would be welcome? Btw the star fabric would look fab with your white jeans idea.
That silk is gorgeous. How about a SOI Alex shirt dress? I had similar concerns about the sizing of the Hudson pants. I think it looks worse than some patterns as True Bias sizing goes up in steps of one inch, but most other patterns go up by 2 inches per size. Interested to hear how you get on. Sometimes I feel like I am ruining the intentional line/shape by grading between too many sizes but my hips are nearly always two sizes bigger than my waist.
Omg your coming to California!! Where ?? Would totally love to hang out with you and go shopping to downtown la fashion district.. Hopefully when you Joann is having a sale on there patterns for .99! Can’t wait to see those pants because I’ve been dying to make some too and that’s my problem too.
@kittenishbehaviour always has to grade her patterns as she has a teeny tiny waist, she LOVES chatting to other sewing enthusiasts and sews for a living so she'd be good to chat to about grading between sizes. She's about 8 waist 14/16 hips I think!!
Not being able to fall asleep because you are thinking about your wedding dress is like... your are sewer, there are so many possibilities and it's your special day to be a princess. We all go through it. Just be sure to have fun and let all worries go.
Ooo cool! Yes Goldhawk Road is my number one, but also Simply Fabrics in Brixton, Fabrics Galore in Clapham Junction and if you've got time definitely check out Fabric Land!
Lovely selection of fabric and patterns. The Liberty Lawn is absolutely gorgeous and will make a beautiful dress for your honeymoon!
I love the floral, I am so glad you got a good deal on it. Can't wait to see it made up and your wedding gown too. tfs

That's definitely what I am leaning towards- I love a swooshy skirt! I'm glad I'm not the only one not sleeping haha
Love at first sight with the Liberty fabric! Gorgeous!

I'm so excited to see your wedding dress once it's done after the wedding!! Also, for the lovely Liberty fabric i'm imagining either a Nina Lee Kew dress or the Mimi G Jessica dress!
I LOVE the idea of the Kew dress! Thanks

Haha ooooo I would SO love to visit The Fabric Store!
Ok I couldn't stop looking at the top you are wearing and was waiting for you to talk about it. I love it. Did you make it?
Ah sorry I totally forgot to say! Yes I did, it's a new make- a cropped Toaster sweater! X
Love the fabric and patterns good luck on your wedding dress, and maybe use the short ruffle dress for the wedding rehearsal
Love all these beautiful plans! That Liberty is worth the price of admission. ;)
Haha thank you! It will be a joy to work with- how can you look at it and not smile!
That liberty print would look beautiful as a Nina Lee kew dress!
That's an awesome idea!

Fun plans as usual. Yay for your trip to California! I’ll wave to you from the Bay Area! ❤️

The sweater is a Toaster Sweater and the fabric is from Fabric Land. They may still have some!

I was amazed when Sian said about the difference in inches between her waist and hips. I have only 6 inches difference :( no booty here lol
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I love heirloom sewing; it's so wonderful to sew pieces that will be loved for years to come.
Your liberty fabric would look great in a sew over it Betty dress.
Love the idea of the yellow linen dress, but curious how you wear linen as a dress without it being a HUGE wrinkled mess? I mean u sit down once and its all over. Do you have any tips?

Of course! At the moment it's not a regular thing but we all said we want to meet up more often
California! I'm in San Diego these days/years. (Used to be London and east England)
Ooooo lovely!
omg! where did u get the fabric for the sweater you are wearing!? I LOVE IT!

It's good to know I'm no the only one!
I've never used the AOI Alex shirt dress but I will check it out-thanks for the idea!

Woah serious bargains to be had there- sounds amazing! We are going to San Francisco and I can't wait!

Do you watch "Lizsews" ? She has made a dress that would be a great pattern for a summer dress.
Not being able to fall asleep because you are thinking about your wedding dress is like... your are sewer, there are so many possibilities and it's your special day to be a princess. We all go through it. Just be sure to have fun and let all worries go.
Thank you :) That's where I'm at now- I've lost the anxiety and I'm just super excited!
I don't know if you watch her but WithWendy made her dress and did a few videos about the making of it.
I have seen it yes! She looked beautiful as always
I want a fabric twin!
It's pretty good ;)
I'm going on a London trip next month, any tips for fabric or sewing-related shops? Goldhawk is already in our plans to visit.
Ooo cool! Yes Goldhawk Road is my number one, but also Simply Fabrics in Brixton, Fabrics Galore in Clapham Junction and if you've got time definitely check out Fabric Land!
Perhaps the McCalls dress in your Liberty floral?
I like that idea! The frill could look really cute
Charming video!!
Thanks!
Where will you be visiting in California? I am in Central CA in the middle of nowhere. Ha ha
Hehe yay that’s me - I came from Cambridge!
Wooo! :)
