definitely when i started friction fire for the first time. i was so proud, i was the best at it in my group, and would have competitions with the other girls to prove i was the best. oh also when one of the other girls told us she was a canible...
Hello my darling want to compliment the pink shoes I have the same in the pink and black
i want to know too
There was a moment when I had to blow up the the other kids supplies by shooting some apples with my sick archery skills. Finally performing the ceremonial Cupid Shuffle at the celebration dance with my fellow adolescents made it all worth while.
I love how Micarah always makes sure her Instagram polls are completely fair... she’s so selfless
Yes, so *fair*
So *brave* .
@@thtswutshesaid So selfless 😔😔

"People these days just don't understand the concept of showing up for life."
Words to live by.
meanwhile me dressing appropriately for life wearing sweats:
Micarah has an interesting life to live. The rest of us mortals don't. 😂
As a historian, I confirm that Micarah's presentation about the history of Homecoming is 1Io0ö%°° true :)
Surprisingly, fighting off the bears was the easy part of homecoming. The hardest part was not dying of dysentery 😉
I don't know why she calls her historical segments "sketchy" when they are entirely accurate.
Micarah forgot to cover the getting a homecoming date portion of the history of Homecoming. :O Originally the woodland creatures would whisper into the ears of students who they should go to Homecoming with
oh man brought me back to my home coming fighting wild geese for a spot to get some fresh water. 10/10
Oh neat, i never knew. High school is very different here, we have dances but they are very different
As a fantasy fiction writer, I am floored and humbled by Micarah's commitment to crafting alternate histories.
@Jette the One and Only 🤣🤣🤣
Alternate? This whole video is factually accurate
She needs to make a sketchy history documentary
How is she so good tho?!

Funny enough, the dark blue dress was my absolute favorite. I’m a sucker for anything sparkly and sapphire/midnight blue (one reason I opted for a sapphire engagement ring over a diamond, but I digress)-I don’t often like fitted dresses but I would wear that one in a heartbeat 💙
Right? It's such a new years dress!!!
same
agree - the dark blue dress is amazing
Right, I saw it in the thumbnail and thought it was the prettiest!
It was mine too. She looked incredible in it
Honestly the green dress that says "dress" on it is HANDS DOWN my favourite Micarah invention ever I love it so much
same i love it
a 60s-early 70s silhouette with no details whatsoever and just. dress
I had voted for that one! I'm glad she made it!
10 out of 10! I want one!
The gold fringe dress has such a Great Gatsby vibe!
I cried when she made it. I specifically asked her to pls make that one on Instagram.
The high-schoolers' responses to your questions were absolutely hilarious!
My personal favorite:
Micarah: "How do you deal with hallucinations caused by dehydration?"
High-school kid: "I drink water."
how do you know they were a high-school kid and not a paid actor..
@@francaduijzer5700 duh, because she asked 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Don't you know everything on the internet is true??? Kids these days.
My favorite is the kid who was just so confused the whole time and only answered "What?"
As a fellow homeschooler, seeing you and your dad dance outside a high school is honestly the funniest thing ever because I’ve always wanted to torment public schoolers.
As someone who has been homeschooled since 1st grade… I love this
Omg same 😅
Just saying that I would love to be tormented by people and definitely dancing dads
@@batzdoartz 😂
Micarah has normalized home schooling for so many of us.
Why aren’t we talking about the kid she interviewed, the “what” kid 😂
He’s the best part of the interviews 😂😂
He had no clue about anything 😭
The poor guy was terrified 😂
he was so funny
“……….. _What?_ “
Aw that one rare moment of serious sincerity from micarah when she was talking about the sleeves and arm insecurities :’)
That was so so good
rare xD love it
Honestly, there's nothing more punk than showing up to homecoming in a neon green tshirt dress that says "DRESS" along the hem
I love the "generic dress" idea! I want to make one too, for wearing to the store.
I need to find out how she did the "dress" letters.
@@Marialla. Fabric and/or craft stores sell iron on letters! It looks like she went for thin ones (they can get pretty thick) to keep the fabric flexible, so I'd look for the thinner ones if you want the same look :)
this foreshadowed "BRAT"...
@@lidorelydying1989omg yesss, I need her to do that dress and add the letters "brat" and went to Charli's concert pls
@@johnanhmmiii frrrr have you seen her "lower back tattoo" thing? I love how she just stamps the word on whatever the thing is
Honestly.... I love the green Dress dress. I would wear it forever. Since I cannot sew (and by cannot, I mean am far too lazy to do so) I might try to find a similar dress at the thrift store and add the letters at the bottom. Because it is brilliant and stupid, and the intersection of those two things is my sweet spot.
you could also get a large tshirt for a similar effect
Yes right? I would totally wear that too ✌🏻
Right??? It's actually so cute
It's so 60s mod
HilD
I used to wear that exact same style in the late '60s/early '70s. Now I Am late '60s! 😊
Micarah is so brave she talked to teenagers. I could never they scare me reminds me of my teenage trauma
So brave. I nannied a kid that went to the same savage all-girls high school I got bullied at a decade prior and legit had a panic attack in the parking lot the first day I had to pick her up. It was okay after a couple weeks, though. I think teens are a whole lot nicer to each other than they used to be, which is a relief for society
i think it's because she's homeschooled, she's a little more powerful than them
rewatching this now. the final dress aged so well, its SO Brat coded
so true!!
We def know😊
not micarah predicting the brat album cover with the last dress
The fact that the blue dress poll was rigged and you still made the green dress killed me. All the love. Howling.
It's also super cute.
@@goawayleavemealone2880 I was thinking the same thing. Some little socks and boots it would be so cute. Or comfy just to lounge in 😂
Me, a 21 year old man who has graduated high school already: *ah yes thank u micarah 🥺*
Me, a 26 year old watching these while documenting my professional notes at work: PERFECT.
nothing stops you from going on someone's high school graduation in a pretty dress

One word: homeschooling.
It’s 7am in Australia and to start my day with this kind of relentless Micarah energy, makes me feel like I can accomplish anything -
Its 5:30pm in Canada😭
Powerful
7:22 now

As a fellow homeschooler I am very grateful for your clear explanation AND history of what homecoming actually is. I've always been so confused as to what goes on and leads up to this strange and foreign public school event, and now I fully understand.
I think homeschooling is child abuse. Michara shows me that it's not always bleak. I do think she's an outlier.
@@hus390 bro what are you talking about? have you ever spoken to a homeschooler before? most of us are normal. the abused kids are the outliers.
@@laurenm908_ Not the person you asked but I’ve only known one homeschooled person IRL and they hated it, they wanted to go to high school badly and expressed to me that they felt their lack of social and general knowledge keenly. It affected their ability to work until they self-studied (and got help using my school books and our friend group helping) to get their GED.
Some countries don’t allow homeschooling because of the social and cultural education that cannot be tested for. Educational neglect is abuse and some places that allow homeschool have little to no oversight to ensure a well rounded education. Distance education and homeschool are nearly the same in some states in the USA and in others your child isn’t even tested regularly to ensure basics like maths and history are being taught. The outliers like homeschool cooperatives with a rich education or people with very educated parents who thrived without the structure of organized schooling are just that: outliers.
It all depends on your POV if you view homeschooling as positive, neutral or negative. All are supported by evidence, but without studies to prove one type is the most common, there is no right answer.
@@vysharra Okay? Again, i see your point and understand how it can be bad. But you’ve talked to one singular homeschooler lol. The only other homeschoolers i met went to co-ops, which at least where i’m from, are not expensive and are very accessible. obviously homeschooling is not for every kid but don’t take one person’s story as law.
Also all homeschoolers have to take some kind of standardized testing each year, in my state at least.
@@laurenm908_ I didn’t express an opinion on homeschooling.
I really didn't think my brain was capable of fully concentrating on something for a full 20 minutes nonstop (dang that's sad actually lol) but the editing style and narration of your videos always keep me fully engaged! This must have been such a hard video to edit but you make it look easy, same with sewing. You're really talented at what you do, Micarah!
I know, right? It is somehow both engaging and relaxing for my brain because the pace matches the pace my brain moves at.
@@amandaa8472 Yes! Exactly!
Literally!! I have adhd so I find it very hard to stay focused during even a 60 sec video but I somehow stay the whole way through, no pauses through Micaras vids
y'all gonna make me cry. dude. I thank the heck out of thee
so true. so true.
As a foreign person, now I truly understand what homecoming is. Thanks, Micarah! :)
I actually loved the green dress at the end. I can see a lot of teens making it work, especially with the ironic "Dress" ironed on it
13:47 this kid has the bes reactions to all of the questions and he’s honest such a mood😂
He was not prepared for a Micarah Tewers style interview and I feel bad 😂
For those that are more confused than before and still want an answer, homecoming is just when a high school (or college) football team plays it’s first home game after a bunch of away games. It’s usually in the fall and usually alumni are invited to attend. Now back to Micarah’s usual shenanigans.
I am in my 4th year of college and I actually did not know that that was the meaning of homecoming! Thank you
Oh interesting, so does that mean homecoming might not happen every year? :O
Thank you!
@@grassgrows8 Homecoming happens every year! :)
Oh really, so that's what it is! I thought it was just a end of the year dance
That neon "dress" dress looks like an experimental fashion project when you combine elements of farm house decoration with bold SS2022 colors :3
Thank you for this tutorial which helped me greatly in making a dress similar to the blue satin one!! ^V^ It took me a total of four days as I handsewed everything that was visible and added many things as my design was somewhat different from the one you did (petticoat underneath the skirt, eyelets and boning in the back, etc.)... It turned out very pretty! :D
Is there like a pattern for this or do you just go with the flow?
@skrunkly688 I just went with the flow and did a mock up for the top which I readjusted until it fit the bust well
Mikara… I am making my homeschooled kids watch this history lesson and I’m telling them it’s true. 😂
Bro I thought she was serious until she mentioned the KFC man 😭
yessss! make them grateful to be homeschooled!

I'm gonna be perfectly honest. While your videos are chaotic and fun to watch from a comedy perspective, they actually are quite helpful. I just made my homecoming dress, and I used your valentines day dress tutorial as a starting point. I just wanted to genuinely thank you for being here and posting.
This is one of your funniest videos yet. The poor "what" kid in the interview segment. I'm giggling uncontrollably
I love all the dresses you made, especially the first and second ones! They both remind me of Barbie!
RE: funerals in Australia: It's up to the family. For my grandfather's funeral, we were asked ahead of time if we wanted to see the body. In the event we did, we could view the body privately, separate from the actual ceremony. The coffin was present at the funeral itself, but it was closed.
Fellow Aussie. Backing this up. Unless it's a drop bear death, you don't want to see those bodies
Do you have wakes in Australia?
For context if you don't: a wake is a party before the funeral, with the dead in attendance in their coffin. The idea being to throw such a great party with all their friends and family and favorite foods/drinks that if there were even a tiny spark of life left in them they would wake up to join in. There is supposed to be lively music and an appropriate amount of drunkenness, and a pleasant fistfight or so would not be wrong. People can sob if they want to, but only in a happy way.
P.S. all of this is 100% accurate and true, spoken as an honest Southerner from the USA. Not even kidding a little.
@@Marialla. Yes, we have a wake after the funeral to kind of remember and honour the dead. At my grandfather's wake we shared memories, had drinks/food and released balloons. The music wasn't particularly lively though, and no one got drunk, from memory. I do not believe the coffin was present at the wake.
I'm not sure whether my family's affairs are culturally consistent across Australia, though.
@@firefly-fez Ah. We would probably call that a funeral reception, if it were after the funeral. Or possibly a "celebration of life". Those tend to be more reserved and dignified, focusing on trying to share comfort for the bereaved, as opposed to being a loud shindig literally intended to wake someone out of their coffin.
I don’t know if you’ll see this but I hope you do. You inspired me to start sewing with your chicken feed bag dress years ago when I was 11. You are constantly such a positive prensnce. Thank you for making me a better person. I hope whoever reads this have a wonderful day ❤️
that's so lovely💗 good luck with more sewing and have a great day too
dang I've never met you but I can tell you'd be one one my favorite people ever. So sweet of you to take time out of your day to write something so encouraging. I hope you have the freaking best rest of your life ever
Micarah responded to you! Yay! And you have a great day to! Emplacement A.P.!
As an Australian I can confirm - we have the option of viewing the body. Depending on your cultural/ethnic background you may have an open coffin during the service or more commonly selected family members go to a "viewing room" an hour or so before the funeral to say a final goodbye to their loved one.
We do? I have never heard of viewing the body until I watched movies and stuff from america
We do have the option, i think half the funerals I've been to have had viewings. It just depends on the family and the wishes of the deceased.
maybe, but I think most of us don't. everyone I know who buries their loved ones don't view the body, and my family in particular tends to think it's gross or disrespectful. I personally wouldn't want to but I'm not that opposed to it
Spain here. I only talk from my own great grandma's funeral experience, so it might not be like this all over the country, but we (fam and friends) were gathered in a room in the funeral company's place, with Ggrandma in a side room, open coffin, with a window between both rooms, so whoever wanted could see her through the glass or go into the room for a little bit
Yes, I have seen two Grandparents in a private viewing and recently my father. It's personal choice.
I’ve literally been creating my own homecoming dress (with zero experience) after being inspired by some of your old videos and now there’s even more content to keep me somewhat motivated!!
ahhh that's so cool of you! I wanna see it!
"Why r u whispering?" "Hm because I'm scared of people" so accurate!
That meant a lot to me when she mentioned the sleeves and how so many ppl were asking her to make dresses with sleeves bc there self continue of their arms (me included*). She said such nice words and that really made me feel seen. Tysm micarah💜
Interestingly, I promised my little sister that if she went to homecoming, I'd make her the dress and the theme is the Roaring Twenties. A pleasant surprise to see dress #3! I'm going to make a historically accurate flapper dress, but I like your idea of making the fabric the main attraction.
I am really wondering where to get the fabric from. Do you have an idea? I am really lost at this point. Have been looking for that kind of fabric for ages
@@almdudlertoo I don't have a fringed fabric like hers. I'm getting an embroidered tulle from Etsy. Maybe try looking there.
@@almdudlertoo you can buy the fringe separately and glue/sew it on a fabric. I think orly shani made a fringed skirt like that.
The interview segment is hilarious! I love thar your sewing videos videos always have a little something extra to them.
The dress dress actually has total Powerpuff Girls vibes, especially with those shoes. I love it.
i have severe adhd and your videos are literally perfect for me, the way you talk is everything
The blue one is absolutely gorgeous! They're all beautiful but wow I'm in love!
Every person who has ever used a sewing machine can relate to doing your next project in the same color so you don't have to change out your thread...All the dresses were great but the Blue one and the Green "DRESS" were my faves.
This chaotic energy is something I think few youtubers have, and I'm really happy I found this channel to watch when I'm sad or feel like some chaos
I’m a senior and my last homecoming is actually coming up and I’ve never been to one because it’s always way too crowded but since it’s my last chance I’m going. I was originally just gonna wear an old dress I already had, but just found out it no longer fits 🙃🙃 BUT I think I’m gonna actually make that long-sleeved dress!! I’m in love with the design and even have a couple of ideas to add my own personal touch to it!! I’ve been meaning to get more into sewing and have watched your videos for a long time and I think this has been just the push I’ve been needing! Lets hope it goes wells!!!
Dude that’s awesome, Keep us updated!!
I'm also a senior! Praying neither of us get drafted to Alaska this year. Good luck out there, and remember not to eat the bright-colored berries
And yeah, I *also* really want to make that long-sleeved dress. Would love to see how yours turns out, maybe I can steal the design lol. Or maybe we can compare! (If I can find a minute to actually make it)
yes!!!! Love this attitude! Remember, you don't have to stay long. Just long enough to say ya did, and to show off that dress ;) best of luck! Remember, the stretchier the fabric, the easier it'll be :)
Do you know what you've done? You have UNINTENTIONALLY made a "brat" dress BEFORE they even decided on their own logo.
So I thought the 20s dress was gonna be my favorite but then I saw the sapphire one and omggg it's stunninggggg !!!
The dress with the bow is definitely my personal favorite!
Mine too!
I was helping my friends make their ren fare costumes, and never made one for myself. I had two days and armed with the technical knowledge I had gleaned from Bernadette Banner, the historical vibes caught from Morgan donner, the willingness to fail learned from Rachel Maksy, and the grit to not be nitpicky and just *do the thing* energy that you pour upon us. Yeah. I made a sick costume. In less than two days. So um. I survived in the wild wild Renaissance Fare? Anyways- I've always loved sewing, but all the different things you need to think of always made me freeze up and I didn't make anything for years. And then I stumbled across your channel. And you just make stuff. Sure their's steps, but you cross the bridges when you get to them. You mess up, and then you change the design and make it work. I don't get frozen anymore. Thank you for being you.
Yessss feel this so much✨I still struggle with perfectionism but Macirah helps me try to get past it with her shiny example of persistence 💕

The kid with the blue shirt being completely confused is me i adore him hope he has a great day
As a sophomore high school student from Alaska, I would just like to say……that I will forever automatically be homecoming queen. Thanks to surviving my childhood in this cold hell.
Y'all! Your arms are beautiful. I promise no one is looking at them the way you are. You're gonna be dancing and walking around with friends, it will be hot 💜 be as comfortable as possible.
As a seamstress myself sewing is such a tedious and mind torturing task but you always make it seam like fun and easy. You inspire me to play around and be creative with it. If not for you I would have given up on it long ago.
Love from Pakistan
I couldn't stop laughing with the interviews! They are so adorable, I hope they have a fun homecoming! Hopefully they know how to build a fire.
Also, Micarah you are so talented and funny! All your dresses are so beautiful! 💟
Micarah's historical lessons are always eye-opening!
Yeah that kinda does happen when you raise your eyebrows ;)
The music for the sleeve tutorial (18:33) sounds just like some of the H2O: Just Add Water background music, and it gave me such surprising joy! I don't know if that's the actual music or it just has the same vibe, but either way, I love it, thank you Micarah.
I have been sewing for a little bit and I decided to save myself $135 and make my own dress. I used the 2nd one as the design but in black. It honestly looks gorgeous and is good enough for a dress that I am going to wear once in my life for 5 hours.
The thing you said about arms, Micarah, you're too kind, honestly!
The dresses came out really pretty and even though I'm 31 and not going to school dances anymore, they're super cute for anything!

I'm an artist and I do realism and never have I ever thought that making dresses take less time than finishing drawings......
Only if you're Micarah
depending on the dress it can take sooo much longer
shes made some ones that took longer bc of the amount of detail like the ariana grande one took a while and thats off the top of my head
Hi Micarah! I love the questions you asked the high-schoolers lollll. (Crazy idea- Can you make the Queen’s inaugural gown?)
Yes! I know that's asking a lot but that would be amazing to see! You could even do a version it BARBIE PINK!!!
The hair transplant joke made me SCREAM 🤣
Also thank you for explaining homecoming to me, Micarah! I too am a homeschooledshit so I had no idea. I bow to your educational prowess as always 🙏
That one boy who Micarah just completely confuddled. Is so funny I can’t “what who?” What?” “……..what?” “I’m sorry.” Hahahah just hilarious editing Micarah.

i’m more obsessed w the between the projects styles. shirt + shoes + pants + hair are always so coordinated, it makes my heart happy
I love how some of the highschoolers are just completely game to go along with all of her nonsense. And I love how Joe showed up for like a second in the middle of the high schoolers.
I think this is one of my absolute favorite videos of Micarah and also on the internet. Love you
WHAT sorry WHAT
I've been watching Micarah's videos for some years now, and it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful and talented she is. her parents raised her right. we need her parents to tell us the secret to raising a talented, confident, easy-going individual.
I loooove that green dress. Not as much as the blue one with sleeves, but quite a lot.
I love your dresses! And it's great to see you give Homecoming some love. Everyone, let's not pressure Micarah into making this year's Holiday Barbie dress. While it's cool how it resembles a poinsettia, it's sleeveless and the doll is wearing open toe shoes. We want our favorite comedic UA-cam seamstress to stay warm this year!
Or, maybe we all just have to bombard the Hawaii Tourism Bureau and United Airlines with Tweets, etc. about flying Micarah out to Maui and putting her up in a beachfront hotel so she can model the Holiday Barbie dress [where it isn't freezing]! 😉 🌴🌺
I love your commentary about the sleeves on the blue dress, but I’m self-conscious about my arms because it gives me anxiety when people see my scars :) so thanks for adding sleeves!
These videos inspired me to start sewing, and now I'm about to make my own Halloween costume! Thanks Micarah!
The green DRESS is iconic!
All of these were just sooooooo cute. The light blue one and the 20's inspired are my fave!
Micarah, your description of Homecoming is the perfect homeschoooler’s description.

@MicarahTewers I just wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration. When I started sewing, i had no clue what I was doing, and now im sewing heaps of my own clothing, making (somewhat useless) costumes and designing clothes all the time - as a 14 year old. this is all thanks to you - the first tutorial of yours i followed was how to make a regency dress in one day, it turned out... well less than perfect, but just a few months ago now i used your Halloween costume tutorials to make a regency dress - it's pale pink with a lace overlay (very jane from pride and prejudice). ive used so may of your tutorials and i just wanted to thank you for being such a funny, lovely and entertaining person. i pray that God continues to bless you.
Seeing you in your house wearing heels and being a boss babe while saving the lives of homecoming teens is honestly all I need from your channel 😂😍 the boost of confidence cut was soo goood 👏🏼
Okay, that final dress pleases my Canadian heart... and reminds me of the No Name brand line of Merch.
these all look like they could fit in different taylor swift eras !!
you’re so right about prim’s orange cat btw
I really loved all of the dresses (including the green one) and much to my surprise, the second one was my favourite, even though it’s not my style at all. I don’t know why but it really reminds me of the film Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion and I honestly love that vibe. Thanks for another really fun video!
Ah, my homecoming... that non-existing 2020 pandemic homecoming. Brings so many memories of depression, loss of relatives, exams and barely making it into the uni. For those of you highschoolers who fear the uncertainty of what comes next - you are gonna make it! You will, buds. There will be friends, there will be money (if they are tight now) and there will be your new outlook on life. Don't be afraid to embrace the change!
