This is the best mod for the d-series pickups in my opinion, the swivel-frame by Olivier! It's based on the Willock Swivel Frame that was added to some trucks in the 50s, they are extremely rare but also extremely cool.

My theory to why the frame can't spilt in 2, is basically the frame is still one node group, but the nodes connecting the center of the frame are disconnecting from the back, copied, and pasted behind the original nodes to line up with the gap in the bed, and those nodes are linked, so the two halves don't connect, leaving a gap, those two parts have a suspension spindle node rotated 90° to the side or something and connected to the center most node of the frame (so they spin), but do to it still being only one node group, it can't be ripped in two, if you look at the structure of the bolide (for an example) the main structure is three parts (which is why is can rip in three) but if you look at the frame of this truck, the frame is probably only one part.
A way to fix this issue is to make to frame two node groups, this probably would cause some issues with trying to get the swivel to work properly, because then to link between the two parts and the weight would stress that one joint.
It is a great mod, no problem with the way it works right now, it just would be fun to have a truck you can split in two.
Sorry for the long winded reply, this is a hard think to explain.
(edited to fix grammar and typos)
Yo, for me the discord link isn't working. Would you help me?
@@happyfireballman9633 gee I wonder
@@Not_Cross You still remember me? dang that's awesome!
European style forest harversters and forwarders and also the 6 wheeled offroad dumptrucks use joints like this. But they also have center steering joint. 😄
i was told its for when it tips to the side, cab stays level (load is in the back) and you can easily unflip it
Sounds complicated. I wanna build that now
Having tested the mod after seeing this, the weakness of the joint makes the bedsides try to party with the rear of the cab. It seems to me that the utility of it is to be able to have a really heavy duty leafpack and still get articulation whereas an offroad suspension would need to be soft to articulate as much as the swivel frame can.
This is essentially why the idea exists. More articulation without compromise to the payload capacity. The few real life examples put it to amazing use, essentially being able to follow right behind 6 and 8 wheel vehicles off the trail.
Wow I haven't watched any BeamNG in a long time... This is really cool stuff. I can just imagine how illegal this would be in real life in terms of safety but it's amazing to try it in a simulation!
I think it's based on a real utility vehicle, it says it somewhere is the description of the mod.
I imagine the Ram Power Wagon it was based on was made before too many thoughts were given about vehicle safety.
This was a great video to watch, I'd love some more of these mod videos!
Thank you for bringing this mod to my attention
Mercedes have done this for countless years with the Unimog series albeit a little differently, even the engine has a slight pivot point.
School buses also can do this, although I think it not intentional.
I need this in snowrunner :0
Now all we need is a swivel frame bolide, T series and wigeon.
i'm relatively sure that this frame with the Pig suspension would be amazing
The irl trucks did it because they didn't have as effective limited slip, so you could get stuck if a wheel lifted
I think they also had a pin to lock it for on road use
Edit: should have watched the video
Old nitrous gbody- "hold my beer"
The drag racing segment perfectly demonstrates why we need counter-rotating drive shafts
I just want to change my center frame bearing...
11:04 it's just going well he said XD
that's a john cena moment right there
Do this with a pigeon,
The front falls over but the cargo stays level!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Swivel frame bolide, covet, and t series (granted, the t series is probably to most reasonable.
This is pretty cool
The original idea behind something like this was for trucks that had to haul super heavy loads off-road, and couldn't have independent suspension because of that.
I'm really curious to see this thing drift or even do the jump drift like the one in ebisu
Ngl i think i subscribed just because your voise
I made an offroad one that on the flip ramp the cab would be on its side. You just gas through it and the cab would be upright
the hinge can do 360 without any stopping point, the chains do nothing
Imagine if this was combined with the 6x6 d series mod with 3 point articulation
I'm not in the car but I can simulate the illness I'd get from driving on an off-road course.
should have turned on zero gravity and just gunned it, would have been hilarious
Imagine this in like a formula car there it splits in the middle for banked curves or whatever
veri gud
i gotta try this lol
This hurts my head
You keep talking about accidentally dumping your load because the bed is swing side to side dude this is an off-roader if you have anything important in the back it's your fault if it goes flying out and if you need to carry stuff back there while off-roading it's called ratchet straps
