Hi i have had a discectomy 8 months ago. I am doing all the activities that i had done prior to the operation. However my lowerback is constantly weak. I do exercises once a day to build up core strength. Maybe i should be doing them several times a day. My consultant told me after the op that nerve regeneration was a very slow process.
@Catherine Jackson You should speak with your surgeon and start physical therapy as soon as possible. After lumbar fusion you should not need a walker beyond day 1 or 2. At 6 wks, you should be able to walk 30 mn at least once or more daily, again on your own. This walker will impede your recovery. Please call your doctor. Walking, on your own, every day is one of the most vital parts of recovery. Core strenthening exercises and stretches are important too but if you aren’t regaining independent mobility, you will recover more slowly.
@@catherinejackson6571 That's most unusual and unacceptable. Write a formal letter to him. If ypu don't get a response contact the hospital the he or she is attached.
Finally, a web site that actually shows exercises. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much
