In this video, shot in March 2018, I head off to Finland, flying in to Rovaneimi in Lapland, in search of the Northern Lights (or the Aurora Borealis to give them their correct name).
Apukka Resort rents out 'Aurora Wagons' for the ultimate Aurora Wilderness Experience, which are essentially a repurposed Adria Action.
In order to keep the experience as simple as possible, the caravan is drained down and the cooker is not to be used - guests are ferried to and from the resort for their meals and hot showers. Flasks of hot water, tea, hot berry juice, and snacks are all provided, and of course the heating and the WC are fully functioning!
So did I get to fulfil a lifelong dream and finally see the Northern Lights?

This was something you liked, after I grew up, I see the beauty of this. I am born and grown up in the Vesterålen Lofoten area, when this was normal for me, nothing special. It is as it is said "you are not a tourist in your own city" I live in Bergen now, have been doing it for over 20 years, tourists say it is a beautiful city, it is probably I think. Nice video from Finland.
Wow what a memory to treasure. It will get you through some rough times. But I missed you saying where Dougal is at the end. Thanks for sharing this with us Andrew. I know now where to go to see the northern lights. But thats not the only point on my bucket list. There are a lot more bucket points on my list lying in Scotland. Wow, wow wow. I have had this dream of seeing the northern lights since I was a little girl. Every time I see them on film it makes me cry and I don't know why. I think if I saw the real thing my tears might melt the snow! lol

This year has been superb for the Northern lights, we have seen them a fair few times on the North East Coast, but no matter how many times you see them, they still take my breath away.. roll on October when they will be visible again, I hope. Great video Andrew, a tad too cold for me.. although at the moment I would welcome some snow :-)

We were in Norway in February and saw them (my bucket list!) and it was awesome, overwhelming and the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Lol , missed you lovely man whilst I was in New England Bay , the WWFi is non existent and had to buy a pigeon as the mobile coverage not much better Lol , must say I quite like my flamingo cushion , might just keep it for myself !!!
