I moved to the UK from Hong Kong 10 years ago. My experience of western democracy disappoints my expectations. I do hold a lattice bit of hope that things can change for the better when we elect a good leader. But I am not holding my breath.

How can anyone with any sense, or a heart, think that Trump would be an improvement on Biden?

He'd be an improvement if you prefer tax cuts for rich people over investments in everyday people

The expert's analysis of Taiwanese politics is hilariously out of touch with reality. Existential questions relating to what it means to be Taiwanese, or war with China barely factor into local politics, and will have virtually no impact on the results of the election. This is something that foreign experts like to emphasize, but it has nothing to do with what local people think. The economy, and social issues are what people care about. How to increase wages which are very low in comparison with similar countries, making homes and raising a family more affordable, and how to reform the education system are what gets discussed. Cross strait policy is there, but it hardly factors in people's decision making because it really isn't something local politicians have control over.

I don't know about the other countries. But Modi will be elected with Huge margin in 2024. Modi development and infrastructure push will give him majority. Opposition parties failed to act as a opposition in the last 10 years.
