GMR was my favorite attraction and I am still bitter about it being replaced! I loved all of this extra background info about you and your time working the best Disney attraction ever!! I am positive that I had you as my tour guide on more than one occasion…if I had only known then!! Fantastic documentary my friend!!
Micah, as someone who also worked for Disney and Universal attractions from 2003-2005, I partied many times with the college program employees at the chatham square apartments! Since I was a local and had a car it made for some very interesting memories with everyone who didn't have transportation lol. Did you ever get to walk the sets at the great movie ride? We used to do that for ride safety checks before and after opening. Would be cool to just walk around the Alien nostromos set, casablanca, indiana jones etc and see behind the scenes. Thanks for the video!
Your video really brought me back to my own career pivots and lucky "plot twists". Maybe Universal's new parade and lagoon show will have "echoes" of Great Movie Ride
This is my favorite episode than you’ve ever posted! Loved that ride. What a cool experience to be a tour guide. Thank you for sharing. The cast members are the true magic in those parks.
Great Video. I was a cast members in late 80s and early 90s. I was there when they opened the Studios and the GMR was one of my all time favorite rides. I am so glad that I got to ride it and that I could bring my parents there to see it. I loved the old movies and the live action sequencies where the actors would interact with the tram--like in Wizard of Oz. I worked my own colledge program, going to UCF in day and working at night. I met a lot of great people on the college program from all over the country.
Thank you. This was excellent and brought back some great memories. The Great Movie Ride was my favorite attraction at MGM. I remember waiting in the long line that weaved back and forth, and watching the movie trailers over and over again. Great times.
I am glad that i got to go on the original ride many times with my parents, which they enjoyed it very much. Sadly, i will never be able to return to the parks, but the memories will last forever. Glad that i didnt ever see the new ride in person.
I can’t thank you enough for making this video. My favorite ride and your personal knowledge made this one of the most amazing Vlogs I’ve ever watched.
Absolutely superb mate. The GMR was the first Disney attraction I experienced, when I was a Guest from the UK on May 16th 1989 and it was a lifetime dream to be a part of Disney. Fast forward 10years to the day, I became a Cast Member at the Disney/MGM Studios where I stayed for eight years and made so many memories. Moving back to Orlando from UK shortly. Round two? Who knows. Keep up the great work and Stay Sick!
Wonderful video! Thanks for the tour. I fell in love with GMR on my 1st ride in Aug 1993. Your CM performance was spot on!! Thanks for taking me back to the GMR!!!
That was my favorite video that you have done. I loved the great movie ride. The last time that I rode it was summer of 2013 so you may have been my tour guide. I visited Disney world in 2022 and rode Mickey runaway railway which I love but I really miss the Great movie ride. I am a California Adventure cast member I work at Flos V8 cafe in Cars land and it is a pretty great place to work. Keep up the great videos you are doing an amazing job!!
I loved the great movie ride as a kid in the 90's going to disney at least 1 time a year! Thank you for sharing this amazing story so glad I got to watch this!
This was so cool Micah, thanks so much for sharing your DCP story! I miss GMR so much😢🎥🎬🎞️ And how amazing that David Tomlinson’s family found a CM who actually knew who he was - that was meant to be! ❤
I remember watching the finally and I told the driver that they had every movie except Back To The Future! They should have moved Mickeys to another park! I miss this ride so much!
Amazing. We love you Micah. Visiting in Nov/Dec - will keep an eye out for you - and will deffo be keeping it weird! Thanks for being an ‘eye on the parks’ for those of us who love 000’s of miles away 😊
Great content #WorldofMicah ! You're lucky to even have that 1 video of you doing the tour, I wish I had more pictures and ANY videos of my younger self.
That is one ride they should've never gotten rid of. It was a must-ride for us every time we went to HS (MGM). That ride was a perfect fit for that park.
Outstanding! One of the best rides ever and still wonder how they got rid of it. My son did the C.P. about the same time as you and was in Patterson. The whole video was a trip down memory lane for me. Great job and I hope someone will come up with a full video of you guiding the ride.
Outstanding Micah! Thanks for sharing this and bringing us along. My one and only visit to Disney World was in December 2012. It was a dream come true. I'm so glad we did it then as so much has changed since. The Great Movie Ride was really something. I was really fascinated with the ride vehicles. I'm a California, L.A. native & Disneyland hadn't had those kinds of vehicles and wouldn't for many years after that. I believe our trip bridged over Dec 2012 to Jan 2013 and when you brought up your video at the end, you sounded very familiar to me. I'm wondering if that was when we rode the ride. Anyway I discovered you through Adam the Woo & you seem to be one his coolest friends! I really liked how you filmed this vlog in detail, it really made me feel like I was along for the ride.
Outstanding....... this video was so amazing.... 2nd favorite one ( still like them all...)...... I liked how you gave such great detail about everything in your world at that time..... video of you as tour guide was awesome..... you looked and sounded great.... miss old MGM and great movie ride.... such great memories you told us.... liked the pictures, too.... thanks so much for share this part of your world with us..... thanks for sharing..... take care..... have a great day....thanks...👍👍👍👍
Awesome video. I agree, GMR was my favorite ride. I believe I even had you as a our tour guide a time or two. Thanks for the vid and thanks for the tour back in the day.
Amazing vlog! I ask the new kids in monorails what extinct attraction they miss the most (most of them weren’t alive during Horizons) and a lot of them say Great Movie Ride.
Thanks for sharing! The Great Movie Ride was one of my favorite rides!!!! I miss it so much!! I wish they could have made the Mickey and Minnie ride somewhere else. And added more rides and shows , they could use some expansions of the parks. With all the new resorts and rooms, they either need another park or areas added to each park. It's just so crowded now because of some many hotel rooms. I still love WDW, but waiting in lines for 2 hours is not easy. Our first trip was July 1995. Then stopped going after April 2008. Then we started again last year. What years were you there working?
I like Mickey and Minnie's. I LOVED the GMR. It could have a refresh and new scenes added. Certainly the shoot out and Indy scenes were my favorite. Boy I miss that attraction.
This was really cool never knew what the movie Ride was like even though I worked at MGM in the early years I never had time to go on any of the rides so it was nice seeing what it was like on this video and hearing your story
I absolutely loved this Micah! So heartfelt, informative and nostalgic. GMR was one of my favorite rides. I wish it was still there. Fantastic vlog! 👍😃
Micah you absolutely nailed that , simply could not turn away great movie ride was along with Jaws what made our vacations back in the Day perhaps you even ran our car we have been going since 97 , this wonderful video brought back so many fond memories thank you 👋👍
Jackson Mississippi!?!?!? Stop, wait a minute Fill my cup, put some liquor in it Take a sip, sign a check Julio, get the stretch! Ride to Harlem, Hollywood Jackson, Mississippi If we show up, we gon' show out Smoother than a fresh jar of Skippy (uh)
Micah these videos are great... just loving them EVERYDAY !!!!! I learned something today that i never before. that is you worked at Disney ! always something huh well you did a great job when you worked there .. you loved it and it showed .
I always had a soft spot for The Great Movie Ride so this takes me back, I miss it. I remember the building and the entire ride had a *distinct* scent to it. I wonder if it still does with the new ride in there, or whether it was just all the smoke effects TGMR used in particular that made it that way.
Couldn't agree more!l Movie ride felt haunting in a classic Hollywood way. Working there I always felt like I was being watched. I don’t feel this in Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railway
You’re a pretty cool dude. My college roommate was in the Disneyland college thing. I’m from ny so don’t know much about that stuff. But yeah subscribed!
I refuse to ride Mickey’s Runaway Railway. This video is the most I’ve seen of it and wow, it’s a travesty. To replace all those beautiful scenes with… screens and poorly projected faces is heartbreaking to say the least. They’ve done this entire park such a disservice by removing its identity. RIP early 2000’s DHS.
Hi Micah I absolutely love this video. GMR was always my favorite ride from the early 90s in my first visit til it closed. I know this is a very “inside baseball” request but could you explain how the ride operated from a people perspective? What did you have to control on the ride vehicle itself? How did you coordinate with the other real people in the ride? I assume timing had to be on point. Was someone behind the scenes “coaching” to make sure you were all in the right place? Did you ever walk around the ride after hours and just take in the detail?
Great video! I always did wonder where did the cast members go/what did they do when the "bad guy" would take over. And how did you know when to come back? I love knowing the behind-the-scenes 😂
Thanks for sharing Micah! Really interesting to hear about your experience working on the Great Movie Ride and you telling us where certain areas of the ride where in comparison to the ride today. Quick question (hopefully) you will see this ☺️ How long did you need to wait for before getting back on the tram at the Indiana Jones scene and did anyone get on the wrong tram? (to your knowledge) Thank you ❤
Hey Micah. Thanks for this amazing video. I found it so interesting. Thanks so much. As a woman living in England, I don't understand college programs... I was wondering, when the program ended, why didn't you stay working in the same job? Was that not an option? Also, have you worked at any other theme parks since?
Skelton is awesome so is bobsled but I love hockey. If you love Disney and Disney history you need to come visit us in London Ont Canada and we will be your tour guide and show you where Walt's family is from near Goderich Ont Canada. The Huron Perth library has a whole section about the Disney family sikar to the one in Orlando. We can also show you where Walt's dad lived and grew up and the town centre where the inspiration for the layout of Disneyland's magic Kingdom and Disney world's magic Kingdom.
Why did they get rid of this ride. One of my favorites. Hollywood Studios is not as good as before. Even the back stage tour with Trams an canyon, New York Street. Miss these special things of MGM /Hollywood Studios
Loved this video man. Im still so mad that they replaced a great ride with this garbage of an attraction.so unorignal and not very memorable. None the less. This video rocked❤❤❤
Why did your time at Disney end at the Great Movie Ride? I'd love to hear the story of WHY you didn't stick w/ the Mouse or attempt to get back in post college. I think it's amazing you've gone from achieving your dream of working for the Mouse and then getting to this point as a content creator. YOU ROCK MAN, stay weird.
You took me down memory lane, even though GMR had even changed from when I worked there by the time you worked there. Former GMR'er here from the late 1990s. I miss that ride so much; I even refuse to ride Runaway Railway. I loved GMR even before I worked there. It was a very exciting and happy time, especially when I got Gangster. I’m still so disgusted and sad at Disney for destroying Studios 😡 RIP GMR 😢 *Wow Micah, you were a natural guide!
Great and interesting video.
I miss MGM , I love how you turn back time lol , love your work

Thank you. This was excellent and brought back some great memories. The Great Movie Ride was my favorite attraction at MGM. I remember waiting in the long line that weaved back and forth, and watching the movie trailers over and over again. Great times.
You have a good clear voice for this attraction, I can see why they picked you.
I was on the DCP in Spring of 2011. Just one year before you did your CP! I also lived in Chatham too.
Great video Michah! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I am glad that i got to go on the original ride many times with my parents, which they enjoyed it very much. Sadly, i will never be able to return to the parks, but the memories will last forever. Glad that i didnt ever see the new ride in person.

I miss the great movie ride. It was my favorite. I've never been to the runaway railroad. But I think it's great that i may have seen you there!
Freakn sweet Micah!! That was my favorite video of TGMR. So well put together Dude!!!
This was great. Thanks for sharing your story, Micah. I was lucky enough to have been on this great ride.
Great insight, thanks for the video...

One of my favorite rides! I need to look through all of my old footage to see if I have you as our guide!!!
My dude, you are killing it with the music! I'm not too articulate when talking music, but this retro modern riff is stellar.
I loved this. Thanks for taking us down memory lane.

Fascinating story Micah.

Miss this ride. I thought TCM did a good job refreshing the entrance
Good stuff
GMR was always a family favourite. ❤️ is there any video footage of yourself as a tour guide? That would have been great to see
Thanks you
