its crazy that you make this video today i just talked with my mechanic yesterday and came up with this same conclusion to buy a Blueprint crate bp3961ctc were gonna order it from you guys too.. i only save about 400-500 dollars from my original custom build but hey that money can come in handy for the rest of the car.. and it will be done much quicker as opposed to a fresh rebuild
+Fat_kev,
Thank you! Please let us know if you run into any problems. Good luck!
howd you make out
How long before the motor blew up
Sadly soon all combustion cars, bikes including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime (BABVVO=Bundesabgasbespassungsverbotsverordnung)!!
My daily driver is a '65 Malibu convertible, it was my 2nd car which I got when I was 21. I had the engine rebuilt when I first got it, 283, and since then some updates - replaced the 3-on-the-tree with a 700R4 trannie, power disc brakes, power steering, and recently I had a new manifold & 4 barrel carb installed (purchased from Summit) replacing my original 2 barrel Rochester. Other than those details, I'm not mechanic-savvy, to say the least. The one thing I know... I LOVE my car and I want to keep it as my daily driver. it's been a solid reliable ride. Sadly I just learned yesterday that the recent shaky, backfiring and oil-burning issues is because of internal engine wear, pistons? Not sure yet.. but my mechanic believes I need a new short block engine, and suggested a 350 shortblock. As this post says, all the options out there are overwhelming. I'm not knowledgeable enough about engines, I need to rely on a mechanic to figure it out, so all you gear heads are super lucky to have the knowledge you have. I'm not sure what that means that I can get just a short block, and I can use a 350 shortblock on my 283? Is that fine to just replace the short-block and not get an entire new crate engine? What's the other part of the engine called that's not a short block? Does that other engine half have parts that could be worn out too?
Another friend said people are installing hybrid motors on classic cars lately.. is that true? is that a can of worms or something smart and simple? I don't like spending money twice.. I want to do this right the first time, however I'm not prepared to spend $3K-$5k.. I'm not sure what's best for 65 Malibu.. I live in Los Angeles (Glendale/Burbank area). I'm happy for suggestions! Silverized@Yahoo.com Thanks everyone
Hi Susan, It would be best to call in to or email our tech department as there is more information needed for the short block, cam, etc.
We will need to know what transmission you are running as well as additional information. You can call us at 1-800-230-3030! We look forward to your call.
I have an '81 Chevy C10 with a 305 and want to upgrade to the 350 /290 crate...The truck is stock and has all the original accessory drive, A/C and so on. It also has a 2bbl carb. I want more power but not looking to be a show-boat and want to know if I can use everything on the truck that doesn't come with the crate motor. I would consider an upgrade on a 2bbl manifold or 4bbl but I am not looking for a hotrod/race truck, I want to climb up a hill fast and not get passed by a prius...ever again!
You want the 502 big block. Tire melting torque. No Prius will ever pass you again.
i love building engine thats why i just ordered a 351w block yesterday
Where? Where did you order this motor from?
hows that motor today?
Great video, great education. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thank you for watching, John!
I have a 1969 Chevy Long Bed C-20, original barn find. It still has the air pump on the ram-style exhaust! Ball joints are still good, original riveted in. It runs great and been driving it for 2 years now. I don't know the power specs on that original 350, it a re-built Q-Jet.
What would be a good turn key crate 350? I am not using it for work or heavy towing. Just loading it up for light dump runs, a little lumber for home projects, and camping trips. Definitely NOT trying to build a fast hot rod out of it, It's is a 3/4 ton long bed.
Something with good power so as not to be embarrassed, but not to kill me at the pumps to where I need a good reason to drive it.
If you live in Sonoma, take it over to LJs speed & machine shop in Napa and talk to them. They B&Bed my '78 350 C20, put some bigger valve Chevy iron heads, a mild cam, an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 650 double pumper. It ran great and with plenty of power for 220K miles before needing a refresh. And I drove the piss out of it. They do good work, or at least they did back in the 1980s.
A burning question do you guys ship to canada? Trying to restore a 57 chevy for my dads birthday
I want to buy a deluxe 290/350 Chevy engine with a 5 speed and put it in a retro Morris minor van.
Fuel efficient, reliable daily driver, low noise, but still good performance. Which engine am I getting?
I'm looking to put a fully dressed engine in my 1978 C3 Corvette, which is all stock so far. I'm ok with around 350 HP. This will be a daily driver, so gas mileage is important since I will use it a lot. I also plan on swapping the auto for a 5 peed manual, possibly a Tremec. I am on a budget. What fully dressed engine would you recommend? Prefer one with EFI.
Chevy ZZ6 efi crate motor. It’s a 350 sbc
I bought a Blueprint Engines 383 from you guys and it leaks oil from everywhere!
No 4.6 DOHC for cobra
So do you provide assistance on pairing an ECM and or any other electronics along with the crate motor?
Would you ever buy a used short block that had pistons blow up in it ? Pistons werent fully forge. Machine shop said its still good , what u think ?
Hey I got a 77 Monte Carlo got the 305 in it wanted to know what engine can I drop in without doing any major fabrication
350 or other small block should be no more difficult than putting the 305 back in.
What hangs me up is what the heck do I have to do with the computer.. I'd love to just buy a replacement 6.0 and throw it In but I assume that will need tuning and mapping for the computer?
I have a 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt in need of a new engine. I would like to get the same 4.6L engine. What are my options?
I have an 89 caprice 305 throttle body want to upgrade to a 350 under 1500 2000$ that i can drop in and go any suggestions
Def friggin do it my advice lol.
warranty!!!!! yea heard that too many times
I am thinking of a ST unlimited build in New Zealand, Importing a crate engine for a post 2015 comaro. We have a category equivalent to NASA superunlimited, in we run 4 crawford daytona prototypes, and 5 x TZ1 cars. Most of our better tracks have sound limits. Not as bad as the Palmer motorsports or thunderhill situation but not as good as a road atlanta or barber. If I wanted a huge character engine, like the 632 crate engine, will I get it under a decibel limit without cutting back 1000rpm? What will the exhaust system look like?
How hard would it be to get the 383stroker making mid 500hp without turbo or supercharger
We offer a couple different options with 500+ HP

Bull! Read the GM warranty! The engine must be installed and serviced by a GM technician or Licensed shop, otherwise the warranty is null and void. Therefore, the warranty is meaningless to the average Joe installing the engine themselves.
Thanks for sharing and information sir God bless
Thank you for watching!
Need good fuel economy, at least 150 horsepower, and can pull a 3,570 Pound car effectively. Any recommendations?
Ford 300 inline 6
152 horses and a wagon.
@Summit Racing, do you ship crate motors in any country?
Also, any installers in the Orlando, FK 32708 area?
How come theres no shipping fee
3 thumbs down because of what?
Nigga
what about passing smog test? Is it possibleto upgrade to more horsepower and still pass CA. smog test?
Move out of CA lol
will this kit work in a 1995 firebird formula 5.7 lt1 b13402e030, or what kit would you recommend? i wanna build a 355
Hi Dennis,
Well, the .030” overbore would get you the extra cubic inches to achieve the 355 you want but, the crankshaft in this kit is for an earlier 2 piece rear main seal motor. Give us a call, we can get you the right kit for your block and C.I.D. requirements. 1-330-630-0240. Thanks for watching!
dennis bryan What did you come up with? Did you get a kit for the lt1?
Gabriel Engram yes i did i went with a 383 kit
What crate engine is the best choice for my 96 Chevy c1500 .. it has the 4.3 vortec but I want to replace it with a v8
Can you give us a call? We need some information from you. 1-800-230-3030
i have a question. im looking for a carburetor. have a 350 small block and im puting a 508 camshaft from yall and im puting aluminum heads and a high rise intake and im thinking would the 600 cfm edelbrock carb or a 750 cfm a great carburetor
Hi Nathan,
Can you please give our tech line a call? 1-330-630-0240. We need some additional information from you. Thanks!
Why do you need to break in an engine that has allegedly been dynoed...many times?
Anthony Wayne Indeed Lol
He meant the same motor they build 100 of all the same. Your particular one would be zero run time
....Because they build a prototype and test the heck out of it to make sure the design and components work?
kevino25701 not true every single new car is tested in the factory have you ever seen a car with 0 mile ? No they gave at least 10
@@glock1inthetop45 are you talking about lot cars or crate engines
👋
these blueprint dudes look a bit suspect,,, not enough feedback out there to sell me a chinese chevy
Blueprint Engines are oil leakers
