This was a bloody awesome day, we’re still smiling for Al and that Chinese coin 🤩 what a spot and what a team 🙌 very well captured once again Mish! - Ed & Katelyn
"He's stealing my thunder!" 😂. Thank you for an amazing group adventure - cheers to many, many more! 🍻 Hopefully a bunch of folks check out your side of the adventure as well! ua-cam.com/video/2TWbcKR-KH0/v-deo.html
Didn't get to say Cheers and thanks last night Mish, I was only able to join in on short occasions, spent a lot of time waiting for that rotating circle to do its job, just finished rewatching, I had a great time once again! and enjoyed the community get together, You know what they say! its the thimble things in life that makes you happy! Hooray Mish!
Nice going Mish. Good lot of finds from everyone. The eye is a knob off the top of a tobacco jar. You looked very comfy in your surroundings. Great video 😁👍
Of course you knew what the thing was. Nice one mate. Looking forward to putting up our collab in time as well, it's so nice to have a pile of adventures to pick from at the moment. :)
Cheers mate, I was so pleased that everyone found something they could treasure, it meant the world to me that they all had a great adventure. Happy hunting.
Hi Mish that was a very interesting hunt by you all. The finds were exciting to the coins and the big buckle . I think my favorite thing to see was the old stone shack as you said really small but cozy. Nice to see your husband Al out with you and your friends Ed & Katelyn. Thanks for the video looking forward to the next one.👍
I'm going to be keeping an eye out for sites like this in future, so I can take viewers on a little tour! There's not too many 'in the wild' in this condition anymore. Some more relic hunts are on the editing pile, so they'll come out in time. Cheers mate :)
Hi Mish, great to see a group out having a great time. Nice to see AL. Wow! What amazing items you all have found. I'd say you all had a successful day. Take care and stay safe till next time. ❤
It was so good!! PS. While I have you here - look up Bendigo Prospecting Club on FB - there's a post you may want to read there (of the vehicle). It may look familiar...
How fun to be somewhere that you can find relics like this. Where I live in Florida, unless it's something from the 1715 fleet, there isn't much in the way of relics. Very nice hunt and thanks for bringing us along.
Ironically I'm typically in a similar situation, Marti - where I'm from, there's barely 100yrs of history. I have to travel quite far to get to places like this. Hopefully I can film in batches each time I go and keep that content coming :) Cheers!
It's soooo worth it! Definitely go with someone until you get the lay of the land as it can all look very similar, GPS maps are very helpful as well. I use the Signal Prospecting maps through the Avenza app. :)
Nicola White from London and You Tube would be able to tell you all about the button and probably find old drawings of the manufacturers (she loves doing things like that).
Thanks for the video Mish. Coincidentally I found my first thimble this week (still waiting for the silver one - but happy to find one). Also found a bun head but you beat my 1851 one. Nice Chinese coin too.
Hey, Mish!! I'm a little late getting to the party and have some catching up to do. I see that most of your mystery items have been identified or theories have been tossed around. However, there is no mention of the bright red creepy crawly thing at 12:24 so I got to do a little bit of research myself then. Yes! That little guy is a Giant Red Velvet Mite. Now when people think of mites, they usually think of the tiny 1 mm parasites that get in our clothes, hair and other regions of our bodies and in our homes, but these particular mites are quite the opposite. These little fellows are much bigger; up to 2 cm, and actually eat garden pests, including the parasitic mites, and dangerous spiders. They are very beneficial to have around and some gardeners will use them to protect plants instead of using pesticides. Oh, and they're edible. You know, in case you forget your bag of snacks....8:19. Congrats to Ed on the Chinese coin, and your 1848 British Half Penny!! Awesome! Until your next adventure! Later, my friend!
You can eat the mites?? Well, I just learned something. lol. Nice research! Sorry for the delayed response, it has been quite a month. But it is good to be making my way back, slowly. :) Cheers mate!
Hi Susan, sorry for the delayed reply! I use this guide: www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/chinaid.htm It helps to date the coins based on symbols. There was very little info left on Al's coin however the top symbol had a very unique 'hook' on one end, which proved to be the key identifying factor for it. :)
Maybe, though I'm not sure they would've been in a mid-1800's camp. Plenty of concertina reeds in the area though, so it's always possible there were more instruments about. Cheers!
Beautiful video, so different from my swamp here. Looks just as hot, though you may be a bit of a drier hot. Great finds for the group. 🧲(((🪙🪙🪙🔘⛏️⛏️⛏️🥵
Sorry for the delayed reply, Marc - I've been unwell with the spicy cough again! I just love this whole area, it's miles and miles from home but well worth the trip every time. You'll be pleased to know I caught and ate the snacks. 😂

22:38 Chesterman 66ft measuring tape. You have the folding winding handle.
66ft=length of a cricket pitch.
Oh my goodness, this is amazing info!! I was completely wrong! Thank you so much, I really appreciate the ID. 😁
Great job all of you, all wonderful old finds! Have a wonderful day.

Wow, wow, love it! Good day out. 🤠 👍💥❤
Thank you Ray! Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I've been unwell, but thank you again for the lovely coffee surprise. I was chuffed and very grateful. :)
A pull tab ! At least it's not a fishing weight lol👍👍👍😁
hahaha, so true! Musket balls are the sinkers of the relic world.
Congrats on a super day! Love the thimbles, after over a quarter century detecting I have yet to dig one. Yep, I’m a bit jealous…LOL
Oh really! Best not watch Detect-Ed's version of events, then... you might be even further annoyed LOL! Thanks so much :)
Super hunt !
good work mish!

item at 20 min. could be part of a sewing machine, the lever that raises and lowers the foot
Great thinking! Thanks for that.

Woohoo howdy🎉
You have found the top of a gal roofing nail.
Hi, Mish. Where did you find the information about the Chinese coin?
Hi Susan, sorry for the delayed reply! I use this guide: www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/chinaid.htm
It helps to date the coins based on symbols. There was very little info left on Al's coin however the top symbol had a very unique 'hook' on one end, which proved to be the key identifying factor for it. :)

11:32 not a marmite jar is it??
It looks more like an old Vegemite jar than Marmite, but either way, this area pre-dates both of them. :)
@@DirtFishMish Weren't the gold field reworked in the 1930s during the depression?
What was that bright red bug?
As far as I can tell, it’s a red velvet mite. Quite small 😊

Oh, that's odd! I haven't changed anything.. maybe they're just having some temporary issues. At either rate, I hope you enjoyed the video today. :)
