The Truman Show Deleted Scene - Truman On The Run (1998) - Jim Carrey Movie HD
An insurance salesman/adjuster discovers his entire life is actually a T.V. show. - Фільми й анімація
I like the idea of Truman seeing everyone in "first positions" just standing there still.
Did the extras not see him passing by him?
@Berzerker God nice profile name
@@Kehwanna I think thats one of the reasons why the scene was cut, It kind of adds a depth of disbelief. Like even for how robotic they are as actors and whatnot, They should've at least seen him go onto the boat, and in the deleted scene later it shows him 'clearly' walking past them. 'ON TOP OF THAT' not only was he moving with them clearly standing still, but with it being daytime as well as mostly everything being bright and sunny, seeing the contrasting black trenchcoated figure walking past them without them doing anything was kinda silly
I wish they filmed that part in the script where Marlon sees Truman escaping, but looks the other way and says absolutely nothing. Would've added a layer of depth to Marlon's character, and it would have contributed to the idea that even the god-like director was beginning to lose his omnipotent control of the situation.
Damn

This scene is way better cut out of the movie. I like that you really don’t know where Truman is until it cuts to him on the cameras, triumphantly braving the sea after a whole movie of being scared of water.
I would though love if they had an extended addition showcasing him sneaking his way to the boat. Would be fun to see when you already know what’s gonna happen.
It's really smart, just like the ending. We don't see it, because it wasn't on camera.
be quiet
Jethro Jackson
You good bro?
So glad they never showed this. Him being gone off screen for a while even had me wondering and worrying what happened or where he was. Almost made me feel like I was the audience in the movie watching what is The Truman Show itself and feeling everybody's reactions
Yeah, It really adds to the suspense of wondering if he made it or not
Yeah I glad they cut this because in the original cut we meant to believe that Truman had already set sail by the time Christoff realise that something was off in the basement
Agreed, I always imagined that Truman was in the middle of the "ocean" navigating by the stars when the sun is cued.
I like how in this deleted scene, Truman finally knows for certain that he isn't crazy when he sees the entire town out to get him.
This scene would ruin the movie because then it would be like Truman realises that the whole thing is certainly a fiction before he hits the edge of the studio with the boat. At the final cut, he sees the truth at the end and it's the way it should be. Great movie btw
He realized everything was fake before going on the ocean. That's why he was being careful not to attract attention
Alternate ending...
He was hypnotized, drugged, manipulated, went through all kinds of suffering and pain confusion and lies and they never came out with the real truth.
And Truman was not loved but hated and mocked by all.
He tried to leave but they wont let him. And its even worse than before. They said oh you want to die or leave...then you 'll die slowly and still never be told the truth.
Never even have a wife, friends, or family ( even though they were all actors ) you will be alone and suffer.
Should have never crossed this man though. It's a real live Jesus Christ and they crossed and still do it.
But the ending is - did they know what they were doing Jesus? Yes they knew exactly what they were doing and didnt have one conscious thought about it happening to them.
Do you forgive them Jesus?
Jesus:I forgive them, but they still need to go through what they did otherwise they will Never understand or learn. Forgiven but in debt
@@loveall7280 so what does this have to do with religion? I mean don't get me wrong I'm a Catholic myself it's just that your comment is kind of confusing to me
Yusuf İslam Tunbul yeah, but they did already cue the sun in the middle of the night, he was probably shocked by that. But yeah seeing everyone like that would be crazy and I agree that this scene would ruin the movie
Even if you realised the town you lived in was fake you probably still wouldn't believe the world around you, the sea and even the sky, would be fake too.
It’s not necessarily scary, but it’s certainly unnerving seeing the whole town being perfectly still in their first positions. Amazing imagery in this film
Good cut. The suspense of figuring out where Truman could possibly be is better than seeing him sneak around. In the final version, it seems like Truman has already been at sea before everyone started canvassing for him, which makes more sense - I just don't think he'd be able to sneak away if he wasn't already in the water. I also prefer that in the final version, he suspects everything is fake, but it's only confirmed at the very end - in this version, he would've seen that everyone was actors, in which case you'd wonder why'd he bother setting sail and wouldn't just say "look, the jig is up. I see this is all choreographed. I want to leave."
If that happened, I feel like the actors would just try to gaslight him or something, until some people get tired of trying to deal with him, and others would start fighting for him.
Well, it would be interesting to see him see the sun come up.
He still thinks the area surrounding seahaven is real
Tbf there was supposed to be a part in this scene where Marlon finds Truman but doesn’t say anything. Which would have been awesome and explained how he got away (luck). But yeah the final version is definitely better.
So he actually saw everyone at "first position".
A A. And don't forget he also saw them cue the sun, that had to be particularly jarring!
Aaron Greenfield I would’ve been scared shitless when the moon turned into a spotlight too.
If it’s a deleted scene, I don’t know that it’s canon. He may have already hit the ocean before the other “residents” started searching, or got into position.
No he didn't. It's a deleted scene lol
@@nicholasmichalfaul946 Bruce banner putting the gun in his mouth in Antarctica or wherever he was is still cannon even though the actual scene was deleted.
I can see why they cut this too. Ruins the suspense.
+Daniel Burke What's to learn? He just gets on the fucking boat. The only thing that got deleted in the movie were the last 20 seconds of this clip where he's literally just stepping on to the boat.
***** I know there are, jackass. "Learn to read"? You never mentioned the other deleted scenes. This is about this stupid boat scene you think is so vital to the movie. The other scenes aren't relevant, and I wasn't even talking about them, you moron.
+High Impact Sexual Violent Ken hahahaha pointless but funny you two!
lol you referred to the wrong video and are acting like the other guy is dumb.
TOMYSSHADOW - thanks for the opinion mr fucking Spielberg, LOL
If the actors saw Truman moving, what was stopping them from going after him? They didn’t have to listen to the director
I was going to comment the same. Any actor could have said: hey, there´s truman!!
That's why it's deleted
Maybe they thought it was another actor going to their first position
Could you imagine the universe of the Truman Show? Like 30 years later on UA-cam “101 fact you DIDNT know about the Truman Show!
1. Truman was actually owned by the company that produced the Truman Show! Wow! Right?”
This scene alone adds another dimension to the movie. He is seeing first hand that all his suspicions were true and even more beyond than what he could have ever imagined, and he's right under their noses, in plain sight.
I always wondered how he made it to the boat. I love that part where he pretends to be an extra. I understand why the scene was cut, but I feel better seeing it just the same.
In the alternative reality of the show Truman walked through empty, unwatched streets. It's a film set, nobody is here during the night. Only in the morning the characters and extras go to work, assume their initial positions and start doing their routine.
While I understand why this is cut, I also like how Truman is basically trolling the people watching him without even knowing yet what is watching him.
Deleted Scenes are usually deservedly deleted.
I do wish that, in the final Harry Potter movie, that they had kept Dudley's apology to Harry.
No they aren’t it’s due to time restrictions
Yeah, it was enough for us to hear in _Back to the Future,_ "I'm Darth Vader from the Planet Vulcan" without seeing him give the message and knock his father out.
Along with the other reasons other people have said, I can see why this was cut.
Having Truman not shown after he's escaped changes the structure of the film, just as it will change the structure of the show. It explains why the film is called The Truman Show, and not anything else. By showing Truman, even for a bit, this link isn't made.
Its funny how all the camera's on Truman are nowadays called 'Facial Recognition'
Haha, "santa maria." Like columbus's ship, he's sailing to a new world. Never noticed that one before
i did wonder what truman was doing when everyone was searching for him. if he was on the boat already or if he saw everyone at first postion. this is a neat look but i do feel the original does it better with us searching for truman like the characters.
They said there was a draft where Marlon finds Truman during this whole shindig but after taking a serious liking to him and having immense regret for lying to him, actually tells him to go where no one would expect to find him, inspiring him to go the water route we see later. Marlon later checks in with the producers and lies about finding anything
I like that, and I feel there was a sort of echo of some of the cast feeling remorseful and helping Truman escape. The bus driver not being able to drive the ferry comes within spitting distance of "I could try, but I won't, because I blocked his escape once already."
I've never understood the bit with everybody being in "first positions"... why do they want everybody standing stock still? Obviously, if Truman sees them, the gig is up. Plus why doesn't Christof want everybody still looking for him?
Toby Curtis I'd assume it's easier to find him on camera if he's the only one moving and the gig was up when he turned the moon into a giant flashlight and then brought the sun up in the span of 5 seconds.
+Toby Curtis I think they were supposed to be ready is the show resumed. They were would all be ready to move as if nothing was wrong
@@ShinobiPXO Yeah, but actors don't really are in "first position" like this, as far as I know. They do stay on spot but it's not like they're doing the mannequin challenge, there's no actual need for them to stand as if they were "paused".
@@Gabo2oo actors do actually stand quite still before a scene is shot. I've personally witnessed it many times and in bts footage for many movies. Reason for that is for focus, hitting marks, they are thinking about their lines, they are waiting for a cue, they don't want to cross in front of another actors lighting or shot, etc. It's strongly implied that each extra in this show has a script and routine they follow.. so in theory they would be ready to spring into action the second Truman is caught and on camera. They are probably pumping up the drama and style a bit with just how frozen the extras are.. but that makes interesting imagery and lends itself to making a entertaining film.
I imagine they went to first positions because they raised the sun and were getting ready to start their scripted routine as soon as Truman was found and on camera. If they don't follow their routine then it's just chaos and many of the extras would simply feel lost without some sort of cue or direction. It probably also made the task of finding Truman easier if he's the only one moving, and you see that Cristof is panicking after losing Truman. He just raised the sun and there was no choice but to reset the actors. I also imagine the director and writers would in theory try to right off any irregularities like the sun rising too fast as some sort of hallucination on Truman's part.. or he was slipped a drug by Meryl before she left.. or he receives a mental breakdown diagnosis from a doctor... Or he wakes up in a hospital on meds and is explained by a doctor his meds cause vivid dreams.. It makes sense everyone was standing still and it provides surreal imagery that is intoxicating to experience. I love this movie!
Glad they cut the boat part but they should have kept the scene where he looks up at the camera.
I always wondered how he got from his house to the boat without anyone noticing. Even if he could avoid being spotted at first, there would have been a point where he had to manage his way through the chaos of the search at the end.
Why? It’s dumb, ruins the suspense and him touching the sky
I guess they don't have people running a loop at night. Maybe he went for a late night walk once to see.
@@tito9694 I don't think you understood what I meant (reading it back I could have explained better). I meant the scene right here where they cut the part of him actually walking to the boat, not the scene of him on the boat itself that is in the movie. Also, my bad for not replying to this sooner. Never got the notification.
But yeah, if they would have left it in, it would have ruined the surprise of him actually going out on the boat braving his fear of water.
The part where he looks up would have been a nice touch to help show he was more aware of the show than what was ever shown., and just how clever he really was. I can see how someone would might feel like it might cut the tension of the search for him, but I just think it was a nice touch.
I don't know if someone else noticed it but the name "Santa Maria" was the name of the ship Christopher Colombus sailed from Spain to America in 1492. So the production team was very clever choosing that name for vessel Truman used to escape to arrive to "the new world".
Oh man. Great Scenes.
lol theyre all doing the mannequin challenge
DC Random no
No
No
Yes
No what? This comment was a joke
what could've good if Truman had some help in his escape.
Say a members of the crew & a cast member that are with Sylvia's group of
"Free Truman Moment". They give Truman the info.
Been send him hidden messages, a map marking the path way towards the docks & areas to avoid the cameras. Also they help out looping the camera's feeds. Keep stalling Christof crew. Till Truman gets into a boat. That's when Christof realizes that they're not watching the sea.
Yes, that makes sense. A little too much sense.
This scene highlights the mind set of the film makers. The actors have no idea what is going on so don't act like human beings. That's the joke, albeit a not very sensible one.
in a deleted scene a certain "childhood friend" see's through his disguise but says nuthin and goes back to the search party without saying a word
selemanecu yes yes I always believed marlon secretly helped hi.
Another deleted scene made clear that Marlon helped him, but if that scene was in the movie, I personally think it would have ruined the movie. This is Truman's struggle against the whole fabric of reality. No piece of that demiurge's fake world is there to help him. He is the sole responsible of his own freedom.
Remember Marlon was away for three months. What if he knew tbe end game for Truman and secretly visited Silvia.
I feel that they should've kept the part where Marlon looks the other way when Truman escapes, but cut the rest of the scene.
When was that bit?
Idk why they tried keeping Truman at this point. It has become far too obvious that something is really wrong when the night just suddenly became day and every red flag went off prior to that. If they got him and kept him, he would have been miserable and would have slipped into insanity knowing that his world was fabricated while having no power himself to change it. That would be a cruel thing to watch on TV, which is why I think everyone was so happy in the end when he left because they realized how messed up the show was.
Money. They want to use him as a product to earn money so they were trying their best to keep him stay at SeaHaven
It would have jump the shark but christoff was that insane with power he failed to realize this and everyone else was likely scared to double cross him
This could have worked if they somehow managed to play everything as we saw, and when they find him in the boat, kind of flash back to these kinds of scenes to give us a little exposition on how he wound up where we found him.
Extraordinary extras..ACTION
Yet a sane message from carrey
CUT, CUT, CUT!
WHY THIS LOOKS LIKE HE IS THE TENTH DOCTOR
HAHAHA i thought the same
0:16 that flute music sounds just like the music from "Mio in the Land of Faraway" (1987). The song is called "Mio min mio" by Gemini. It's even in the same key..
Oh, so he saw them standing in the "first positions" like idiots, lol. That's also so creepy.
Agree. Leaving those scenes in would have added so much!
When the music changes at 0:08, always spine chilling. Agree with not including this though, not even zooming in on him before he looked up, would have ruined it
0:37 Those extras playing extras
So that's how he did it
Not necessarily, it's deleted.
That scene with the bike was nonsense, there was no "police", it was just a stage where everyone is an actor. The operator would have realized he didn't belong there, or other actors should have recognized him. That's the reason it was left out.
That moment where Jim looks up and the guy is too busy with coffee to notice it's him.... how could they delete that?
After I first saw this , I'm grateful that in the final cut you still see the dark cloaked figure with the bike approach the bridge whilst chaos ensues, the many times I've watched the movie you think it's an extra , now after this deleted scene you get chills still seeing him out there around them all
"first positions" is such a creepy concept man
I like the cut showing him escape, but this should have been recut. Show it from the perspective of Truman sneaking out away from everyone, and finding the boat.
The scene doesnt even make sense. How does not a single actor see him walk from his home to the boat in broad daylight?
Probably why it was cut. It makes more sense that he made it to the boat by the time Christof realised he was missing. Streets would be presumably mostly deserted when they think he's asleep.
@@ICantSplel Yeah totally much more sense. Nobody's watching the streets. Probably also no people on the streets. So Truman had a very easy escape.
@@Nyan-Kun Not just that, but also Truman doesn't see anyone in first position, he just sees the empty streets. So the "illusion" isn't 100% broken for him until he finally reaches the studio walls. That scene would've lost impact if this one here hadn't been deleted.
Omg the mannequin challenge before it was a thing
Ken B. No
i like it but im glad it was cut
Makes sense on paper. The final edit is better.
Oh I see, he blends in to hide his identity to try and escape.
they prob cut this out because they wanted truman to realize that he’s in a fake world when he crashes into the sky backdrop
I does throw a few things off if it hadn't been cut. One as pointed out it would have outed the full truth of the fiction earlier, and two he might have been caught since he was the only one moving.
i like this
It was so scary when everybody was freeze 🥶 like a robots
And then when TRUP MAN 👨 Show up everybody start moving when he show up
They could’ve kept in the first positions bit but cut out the bits where Truman features
him walking looks cool asf
They would have find him so easily by telling everyone to stay at one small spot for a row count then check everyone's identity and watch all cameras for any one else that is moving around.
Although this was cut let's not forget truman bore witness to them cuing the sun at like midnight
bad for deleted
Pretty symbolic with the red shoes and Santa Maria (Catholic Church)
I don't know about the Catholic church, but Santa Maria was the largest of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus in 1492 to sail to the New World, and here we have Truman sailing into what will turn out to be a new world for him.
I SEE YOU!!💯
How did they not see where Truman was using his wedding ring camera or the tiny cameras in his clothes etc
TRUE MEN KNOWS ALLREADY ....
Subliminal
Why is this scene not in the movie? I always wondered how he got that ship so easily.
i think it’s because no one was watching the water or suspected he would use a boat since he’s afraid of water, boats and bridges.
It was because when coffee guy turned his head, Truman looked directly into the camera. He knew it was there.
Sometimes keeping something a mystery is better for a story
He had at least an hour to get to the dock before they noticed he was missing.
They ought've made a SAME CAST sequel
Oh shit at 0:15 didn't Jim Carey play like stupid characters who would just act all stupid and just on laughing? Wow I didn't think he could play an angry character. Shouldn't say he was angry, but when he looked up the camera, he didn't seem too happy. An amazing actor
True, this is probably one of the most serious roles he ever did
I wonder how much a background actor is paid
0:37 , This is where all mannequin challenge come from..
Paul giamatti!!
O know where all living In a false reality...
XD lol
The Truman show is about escaping a matrix
Christof would’ve left this scene in
Christof should've isolated Truman's knowledge about the outside world since his childhood. Atlantic City? New Orleans? Mardi Gras? That's just tempting him to leave
What were they gonna do if they actually caught Truman? Surely they didn't expect that everything could just go back to normal after this. (I mean Christof might, because he's insane, but everyone else? How could they maintain their roles if Truman now knows the whole thing is fake? And surely the show's ratings would tank, since it wouldn't be much of a comfort show or a look into one guy's "real" life anymore.)
probably put him in the looney bin until he conforms
0:56 The guy on the right really doesn't see Truman walking???
0:56 - How did nobody notice him?
This movie is like a cult classic now hey!!
So, believe it or not I accidentally bought the directors cut of the Truman Show and these deleted scenes showed
let me see
What I don't understand about this is how didn't the crew notice him if they knew all the actors were in "first position". If he was walking around the pier at the moment everyone else was in a fixed positon, there's no way he wouldn't have been spotted by one of the cameras.
It's possible not all crew were aware. Even if they were, how long were they standing in 1st position waiting for the cue to start moving? The mind wanders easily when bored.
@Kevin Stone The way I interpret the sequence is that the staff member didn't see his face in time.
@Kevin Stone Aren't these those very scenes?
the problem to me is "cue the sun". The director should have kept his cool, and continued the search at night.
@YOU CAN DOOO IT !! Yep. But if he keeps his cool he can possibly save the situation with Truman. Technical difficulties for a day is nothing compared with losing the show forever.
Here a funny idea. Would it be cool if all the town people turn out to be robots and Truman is the only human in the show?
Or aliens!
Think they should do another movie like this and drop some more bombs about the truth and flat earth etc. Maybe even use Jim for it.
Truman being admitted to the loony bin after all the gaslighting and lies he endured wasn’t palatable, I suppose. First on air suicide was too much to handle.
?

How would you like a job as an extra on the Truman show lol? Easy money there.
We already got a shot like it in the bathroom. Gives us a false alarm
