- Every once in awhile I like to put out a Quick Powerful thought that captures a big idea in a small moment. This is one of those moments for me. I actually disagree with Walton on some exegetical matters as we get into the supernatural reality that the Bible unveils.
BUT...

John Walton is a treasure in the Body, and it's a shame more believers don't know his name.
I told a guy basically this, that we need to read with historical & cultural context in mind, and he said that I just wanted to "spiritualize everything" and that I didn't want to take the text "seriously" 🤨
I feel ya✔️ It’s so ingrained into the evangelical mind that it is very tough to bring them to a logical consideration of what the authors intended meaning actually was. But the spirit of God breaks all boundaries and we know He is working in and through this truth of the text.
It's amazing how people get offended at the idea of interpreting scripture within its original context, but we gotta do it because the best steak comes from sacred cows.
