This video was so calming and the spreads are beautiful! For reading order of any series. I always reccomend the publication order as that how the Authors intend for us to reas them... and that how Maas reccomends you read as well. And I always say the reason why is that Authors relase books in a certain order for a reason. And as we all know Maas plans out her books years in advance so we can say with 10000% she plans her work and publishing is definitely taken into account in her decisions. She knew Celenas back story before releasing TOG so... she made the strategic decision to release Assassins Blade when she did for the Impact it would create at that time.
Aww thank you💗💗 And very helpful info on the reading order! I didn’t know Maas had stated what her preference was, so that’s really eye opening. Good points about reading in the publication order too- that’s probably a good rule of thumb anytime there’s a question!
i absolutely LOVED the folk of the air trilogy - i read all three books in less than a week as well and when i finished, i wanted to start another read! just so beautifully written - the world, especially. i gave queen of nothing a 5 star, though. i think it was my favorite.
Ahh that’s awesome that you love this series and read it so fast as well!! So interesting that we have different books within the series we preferred😅 reading is cool that way. I love books that make you want to read more!
Your content is so gorgeous and your voice is so lovely! Love watching your videos! I read Assassin's Blade third and can't imagine reading it any other way. Logically it makes sense to read it first because of the time frame, but emotionally it makes sense to read it third because of who Celaena is as a main character.
Aw thank you that’s so sweet☺️💕 and thank you for the reading order opinion! I think I’m team read it for the emotions instead of logic so that is actually a very helpful way to look at it😅
I loved your set up. I want to do a fairy theme for 2025 so this lettering is perfect. I loved the cruel prince, I read each book in a day and gave them 5 stars. I mostly loved that each book was under 400 pages. Made me realize fantasy books don’t have to be 500+ to be great.
As a fan of The Folk of the Air Trilogy, I rarely mention it being an enemies to lovers storyline when recommending because even if it is, that storyline is not the focus (more like tertiary storyline even) and it leads to disappointment to readers when they do not get what they want from a usual enemies to lovers story (which is most commonly banter + tension). I think the reason readers/fans are obsessed with the romance in The Folk of the Air is because we get very little of it, but when we do, it's chef's kiss delicious and we want more, but we cannot get more because there isn't any more lol. So we are just like Jude and Cardan, pining and wishing for more. I personally loved The Folk of the Air trilogy for the family dynamics and political intrigue. I love how their complicated family dynamics and feelings lead them to make decisions that affect the political climate of Elfhame.
You have so many good points here!! I didn’t have time to go into Jude and her sisters’ relationships + overall family dynamic, but I loved that aspect of the books as well. So interesting. I think not recommending this as an “enemies to lovers” is the way to go- it probably would have been a better reading experience for me! Then the romance becomes an extra treat you want more of (like you said) instead of what you were already expecting. I’ll probably adopt that when talking about this series to people :)
The cover page collage is so good, even with a lot of different elements it doesn’t look too crowded or overwhelming! I have mixed feelings about ACOTAR - I loved it when I first read it, and came to recognize some flaws in it over time, but it’s still a comfort read for me (which sounds strange because it has some pretty dark moments). I re-read the first halves of book 2 and book 3 a lot, I think those are some wonderful bits of storytelling. ACOSF kind of disappointed me though 😢 I love Cassian and really appreciate the way Nesta’s character was written but the plot didn’t quite hit for me. I read the Throne of Glass series until book 3 (I think?) but never finished it because my library holds were taking sooo long 😭😭 so now it’s a “someday I will finish this” series.
Yes I’m completely on the same page with ACOTAR!! There are definitely some things I didn’t like with the plot (even in the two five star books) but sometimes when a book just completely grips me and I fall in love with certain aspects, I can look the other way😅 and yeah ACOSF was great when it came to the characters of Nesta and Cassian, but the plot just felt random since the war was over. I hope in the future books, the storyline gets better again. I can’t wait to read more about Azriel haha. Oof I feel you with the library loans.. it’s so hard to time popular series with the wait times being so long and then trying to borrow them in order.
@@ggi426 I'm 1000% team Azriel & Gwen and Lucien & Elaine, but we'll see where SJM takes it😅 I love Az but I also just want poor Lucien to be happy haha
@@anabruns same about Lucien and Elaine 😭 I love Az and Lucien and my heart breaks for Elaine (I don't remember Gwen very well) and I just want them all to be happy, even if they don't end up with the character I want them to.
You should check out julliet marillier. Her writing reminds me of Tolkien in detail and creating a world. All of her books are based in ancient Ireland, Scotland, Britain and Wales. Its fantasy with romance but its a building romance. I read daughter of the forest multiple times a year, lived the caller series (which you would probably like best, go read a synopsis, I promise if you like intrigue) and hearts blood was amazing. I've read pretty much all her books. Anyway, happy reading.
Ooh thank you for this recommendation! Comparison to Tolkien is high praise! It does sound really interesting, I will definitely look into that series. And thanks for saying which you think I’d like best☺️
You should try the Dark-Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's low fantasy romance and starts out very paranormal romance focused, but the world building is pretty good and eventually it really gets into all different kinds of mythologies. Don't be daunted by how long the series is; you can take your time with it if it turns out you like it. Obviously, it's recommended that you read the books in order, but you can read them as standalones because every book is its own romance.
Ooh okay thanks for the rec! That sounds really cool, I’ll have to add it to my list. I haven’t read a lot of paranormal romance but I tend to love when books incorporate old mythology☺️
@@anabruns I know Fantasy Lover is usually considered a prequel, but I would recommend taking it as book one. Some lists put Dragonswan as the first story, but it's a short story, not one of the novels and it is included (if I remember correctly) in a later collection called Dark Bites. Just letting you know ☺
A bit late probably but about Assassin's Blade, I don't know if my opinion is a popular one but I actually didn't like that one much and I think a part of that is that I read it 3rd rather than first. Since it's several prequel short stories a lot of them are about the main character's relationship with certain characters from her past. My problem was that you know from very early in the first book, like chapter 1 I think, what happens with some of those characters and their relationships with the main character, like there is a big inciting event that happened a bit before the first book and the first book starts by telling you about the repercussions of that event. So I honestly just kept waiting for that event to happen and so couldn't enjoy the characters and relationships that had to do with that event, since I knew exactly what would happen in their future. I don't know how to explain it better without spoiling it haha but yeah, at least for me I only enjoyed 2/5 of the stories and I think the reading order affected that. I've actually not even continued the series yet (although I do plan to) since dropping the main story for stories from the past where I mostly knew exactly how they would go really killed my enthusiasm for now. Anyways, gorgeous spreads as always. Love your aesthetic so much!
Ooh that is the best take I’ve heard for reading it first! I totally understand what you’re saying. I feel like it’s probably subjective to each reader on what order will be most impactful. I was leaning towards reading it third but now I’m slightly convinced to do it different because of your experience haha. I just want the order that will have the biggest emotional impact! I’ll just have to guess on what that will be for me😅
@@anabruns Yeah I think it's definitely different for each person what order has the most impact. Either way you choose I hope you enjoy it! I definitely liked the other books a lot and am now inspired to go see if the library has the third book for me hehe
Ooh nice, hope it’s available for you! I really want to read this series next but also really want to read the poppy war trilogy and the red rising books. Idk which one to start now, I want to read them all🤪
Ooh good question! I’d say if you’re in the mood for romance, read ACOTAR, if you’re in the mood for fantasy, read The Cruel Prince. Hope you enjoy whichever one you go with☺️
I’m a Hufflepuff through and through! I would love to win this and I’m so glad you opened the giveaway to international viewers as I live in Ireland and Happy Planner do not ship any of the Disney or Harry Potter items outside of the USA and Canada.
I’m a hufflepuff too! Well, a Ravenpuff really because I can’t decide between the two😅 there’s no giveaway in this video though so I’m not sure if you meant to comment on a different post!
Throne of glass series is my favourite however sarah j maas was very young when she started writing the first so it gets better after the second book, there are sooooo many political intrigues + action and broken hearts (noy romantically speaking, literally broken hearts xD) I hope you like it (even if you suffer) (sorry my englsih, it is not my first language)

Ooh a fairy theme for the new year will be so fun!!🧚🏼 that’s a great point about The Cruel Prince. I agree, a lot of fantasy is unnecessarily long!
