There are now image/picture signs telling people not to touch the horses. It was getting so bad this spring that they were using known biters ( the horses, I mean) to try and stop people from grabbing reins or petting the horses and standing too close to them. It didn't work. The ijits thought it was a special challenge to see if they could get a horse to nip at them. Quite a few twits got really bitten...the horses left marks! I stopped watching the videos this summer and just began watching a few lately. The signs are working. Most tourists are standing well away from the horses now.
So do they treat those guards at the US tomb of the unknown soldier who are in equally non military uniform [more like commissionaires uniforms] or are they off limits because they're ''murican guards.
@@MayYourGodGoWithYou • No, they get treated with more respect because most of the people who go to see them are American, and they respect military personnel. Although there are a (very) few exceptions, tourists from the US tend to behave respectfully to our Cavalry Guards.
I’m a horse back rider. If someone came up and started messing with my horse and or it’s rains , I would be extremely concerned. Horses are very jittery and can bolt in a split second. Thus, putting my horse and I in physical jeopardy. These guards deserve respect. They’ve taken on a serious position in life.Thank you Tyler for covering these subjects.
They think they're at Disneyland. These are working soldiers. Catch one of them when they're having a seriously bad day and you might really regret it.
I’ve seen videos that were beautiful with how they are with people with disabilities, they go out of their way to let them be photographed or interact with their horse ❤
There's some of the horses that don't take shit from crappy tourists. The guards will let you pet the horse if you're respectable and the horse allows it, but non-horse people immediately go for the reins which is the guards method of communicating with their horses. This is a problem because non-horsey people can be very heavy handed and pulling on the reins can cause a lot of discomfort and possibly upset the wrong horse. You should look up some wholesome interactions with these guards and horses with kids or disabled. The horses literally know if someone should know better or not lol
The “fuzzy hats” are black bear fur from Canada. Any monarchs guard do not speak except for warnings. The guards you are talking about are FAMOUS and have been known to as THE HORSE GUARDS for hundreds of years. Sometimes when an elderly person or disabled person stands next to them for photographs you will notice the guardsmen/women will subtlety move the horse towards the person for a better photograph. Tourists should NEVER touch the horse or bridle, touching the soldier is a total no no. Some adults have no brain though. I spent nearly 30years in the army so know what I’m talking about. Ps. The guns ARE LOADED! And YES, WE ARE TAUGHT TO FAINT AT “ ATTENTION “.

Touching the horse and/or reins was getting out of all proportion that just fairly recently they did change the sign to 'don't touch the reins' and then 'don't touch the horse' and also included a pictorial sign for non English speakers but unfortunately there are some morons who still do it. Some people would still do it even if you hit them over the head with a sign. You are right when you say people do it just to get a reaction from the Guard for their social media.
This is at Horseguards Parade, there are warning signs, they are also soldiers and not just ceremonial, this also ministry of defense ground with MOD police.
You are now no longer allowed to touch the horse at all. New signs have been made and pictorial ones too. Partly to discourage but also because horses can bite and kick. I recommend London City Walks as a channel focusing on this.
I think it’s worth pointing out too - that several of the videos used in this compilation, aren’t Guards. They’re people posing as guards for the purpose of making videos to get clicks and likes on social media, which is somewhat disrespectful.
For example, the one who slapped someone on the back of the head 11:28 . No guard has bayonetted, shot or grappled with a miscreant for a very long time. On extremely rare occasions a reprobate may find himself inches from the point of a bayonet, but these days there are armed police around to step in if needed. One easy way to recognise a fake is that real guards on sentry duty are always armed, whereas it is illegal for civilians to openly carry a rifle or sword in public.
That sign you read was added to “do not touch the reins" then to "do not touch the horse" and now there's a sign with a horse's head with a red circle and line through it underneath the main sign.
This must be the worst deployment they get. Those horses are specially chosen for the job, well matched colours. Beautiful animals. They go on holiday to North Norfolk. Love the heavy horses that carry the drums in the band.
I am sure things have been tightened up since then but in 1982 a guy called Michael Fagan got past all the Queens Guards and got into Her Majesty's bedroom..... they had a nice chat apparently
Horse Guards have recently introduced a new sign which has added, 'don't touch the horse,' and a road-sign type of graphic representation. This has improved the situation, but too many tourists still walk around in a dream world, not noticing the signs, or engaging their brains before acting.

The ‘swatting’ bit looks staged .A real guard would not ,as a rule, raise his hand to anyone. More likely a loud shout and a forceful step forward.Trying to get the guard to smile could end up costing him money as they can be fined fora breach of the rules.
The sign is there to give the Mounted Royal Guard 'qualified immunity'. In the first case where the guy 'seemed' oblivious to the repeated commands "GET OFF THE REIGNS!" the guard 'instructed' his mount to deliver a hind swipe, if that fails the guard is armed with a functional combat sword, they generally just hit the alarm button if the commands and horse manoeuvring fails. And... Yes, they are authorised to use deadly force. The royal guard, also known as the palace guard, is a group of soldiers or armed retainers who protect the royal family. They are often an elite unit of the armed forces and may have special privileges or rights.
Tyler, the videos you were watching are old a bit late the sighs were changed to say "BEWARE HORSES MAY KICK OR BITE DO NOT TOUCH THE RAINS THANK YOU" (you were aloud to stroke the horse at the time), in the resent days after someone did a professional style footballer faint after they were bitten by a horse (this horse is know for biting) the sighs now say "BEWARE HORSES MAY KICK OR BITE DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSE THANK YOU" also the clip at 11:50 is a fake guard.
They finally have put up image/pictoral signs up basically saying "don't touch the horses". I've watched a few videos from the last few days and the signs seem to be working quite well. People are not trying to get close to the horses so much anymore. Sure...there's still to entitled asshat that can't see signs and tries to pet the horses, but it's rare.
@geesegod... • Thanks for pointing out the "professional footballer faint" that the young lady in question executed. It was so overplayed that it was farcical.

I watch this this chanel reglarly, its called London Walks and it has been my experience that Americans are for the most part respectful of the Guards. Its the people who live on the other end of the "Chunnel" and those guys with hair ringlets, skull caps and strings hanging down around them that are the worst offenders. I've deliberlately not mentioned the two countries names because not everyone from these countries are rude, maybe jst the ones who have money to vacaion travel.
A lot of tourists don't realise the Royal Guard are real soldiers and they are the best of the best as well, they take their job seriously and it is a great honour to be part of it so visitors should respect them,

I have seen one or two of these collections which include clips of people pretending to be some of these guards. The one here, where the visitor gets shoved from behind, is NOT a real soldier! Usually you can see that the uniform is NOT correct!😢
This is an old video. There has been a couple of changes to the signs since then. New signs have been put in up the last 3 weeks , one written and one visual to tell tourists not to touch the horses. It does seem calmer now. Although, a couple still ignore them and it is obvious some stand as close as possible so the horse will lean towards them, as some horses are very sociable. Whilst there are others that bite, namely a Blues and Royals horse (trooper) called Ormonde, he likes his own space.
As a English girl I think this is so disrespectful to just touch our royal familys protecters when there just making sure the royals are safe doing that is like slapping the president on the back so hard it leaves a red mark
Tyler the Queens/Kings guard are active soldiers Taking photos isn’t consider touching or invading space , however physically touching them is like treating them , those guns you see on their shoulders shoot real bullets
It's sad that they even need a sign telling people not to grab hold of a total stranger's horse's halter and thereby try to take over control of it at all. Even more worrying that they would need them when the total stranger in question is ARMED!
The King's Guards stand in front of the "Horse Guards" building in London. They are not Disney World characters, but tourists behave as if they were. They are highly qualified and trained military personnel. Grabbing the reins of the horses is the same as grabbing the steering wheel of a vehicle. Some people are very disrespectful and rude, especially Instagram influencers made life very difficult for the King's Guards. A few months ago, the signs on the boxes were updated: "Don't touch the reins" But not much changed, on the contrary, people complained to the police patrolling in front of the building that the guards were rude. A few weeks ago, the word "Reins" was replaced by the word "Horse" but it did not helped very much. They put one more, large, red prohibition sign with a hand touching the horse. Most tourists comply, but as soon as someone starts doing it again, the next ones naturally follow suit. Some even feed the horses with sweets or other inappropriate things, which is of course very dangerous, because these horses get their special food, you don't need to feed them! Also this are not rickety farm horses, but noble and extremely expensive military-trained breeding horses. Nowadays, people simply can't behave anymore and mock and ridicule the guards, laugh at them and even touch them. Can you imagine touching a US Marine who is on duty/patrol in front of an American embassy, the White House or anywhere else in front of an American Building? In London, the residents are therefore in favor of closing this side of the street to tourists, so nobody is stressed and annoyed anymore, not the guards and not the horses either.
Imagine a kid standing in front a some elite soldiers marching in USA, or to grab and pose with a tank, to get a picture. The problem is people think these soldiers are tourist attraction and not elite soldiers.
So many people do these silly things, Yes they are Royal Guards - On Ceremonial Duty, However they are ALL British Army Trained and have seen combat! Maybe Tourists should think about that!
I think tourist view them as a tourist attraction rather than the actual serving soldiers they are. They are a working regimental guard. They are on active duty not just there for the tourists.
I was in St John's Ambulance as a cadet as a kid and we would do the marches along with the Army, Navy and Air cadets. Yes we weren't like them but we had to practice too. We were taught by the Army Cadets teams how to faint.

We weren’t tourists either. I’m ashamed of what we did, especially since my dad was in the Navy for over 20 years. Even as a kid I knew better. As an old lady, I would never do anything to disrespect another culture, country, group, and absolutely never a Vet or a soldier representing my country or an alies. It’s downright disrespectful, inconsiderate, and rude. IMHO😅
@@munchie2uI wouldn't even disrespect an enemy's soldier - they're all essentially just doing their job and fulfilling an important duty protecting their country!
It's disrespectful to do it to ANY soldier, in any country, period!
(I appreciate the sentiment of what you're saying though)
@@SallyH247 I agree! You’re right, I definitely should have worded that much better. Even in times of war POWs are suppose to be treated well, humanely. It’s an area that the world has failed miserably in, we need to do better. Thanks Sally☺️.
People do not respect the guards or horses. This is not Disneyland or a petting zoo. These are working soldiers doing their job.
Because the guards are dressed in traditional ceremonial uniforms, tourists do not always take them seriously. Tourists would not dare approach them if they were to be dressed in combat clothes, camouflage, etc. I agree that there should be more warning signs, in other languages aswell.
The signs have been amended now and it says do not touch the horse now
They think they're at Disneyland. These are working soldiers. Catch one of them when they're having a seriously bad day and you might really regret it.
I’ve seen videos that were beautiful with how they are with people with disabilities, they go out of their way to let them be photographed or interact with their horse ❤
Same with the Swiss guard. Those are dangerous too.
thank you for being respectful
This is not a show for tourists. This is a very real job and these are very real soldiers, who should be treated with respect.
Not only is their job serious, they are highly trained soldiers.
Ormonde one of the horses is known for biting and being ornary lol
The guards actually can get fined if they break protocol.
@@samstevens7888 thats interesting
I have seen Ormond doing his stuff! He stands no nonsense.
@@janettesinclair6279 , Ormonde is well loved by people who watch the videos several videographers put on YT every day...also by the MOD police!
Ormonde is an absolute terror and I love it! 😂
You can cure ignorance with knowledge, but stupidity has no cure.
The rules have changed and you are no longer allowed to touch the horses
@@padrat08
That's always been the rule, afaik.
It's simply bent.
There are still people who go to the Zoo, and wonder what will happen if they torment the Lion. These are serving soldiers. When they are not in ceremonial uniform GUARDING A ROYAL RESIDENCE, they are driving around in tanks, and if they are called go to war.
you cant touch the reins, because once you have your hand on them, you have control of the horse, also once that happens, standing out of shot, are two armed police, as soon as they hear that, they are there, and 9 times out of 10, that tourist will be confronted by armed police
The guards also have the optiont to call more kings guards, if you see on the wall inside the box, is a panic button, he hits that, they come running,
i have seen the guards charge at people on using the horses, forcing them back to the road
Reins, the word Reigns means the same as rules as a king.
*reins... Of the horses.
Reigns of the Monarchs.
*reins ...of the horses.
"Reigns" ...of the Monarchs.

They do not faint regularly , you will only see them faint during trooping the colours once a year. When they do have to stand in the heat. People don’t realise these soldiers have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A little tip from a Brit. If you’re going to take a photo just say “I hope you don’t mind if I take a photo” they may nod or gesture it’s ok or they’ll do nothing but it’s good to be polite. Imagine if your job didn’t allow you to move or talk in anyway yet people keep taking photos. Not targeting Americans but think how much you guys respect your serving and retired arm forces, just apply that to the royal guard.
Hello. These guards are real soldiers. They have served our country overseas. Many have earned medals for bravery. These are not actors!!!!! Have some respect please. This is just ignorance of the worst. This is their job. Sometimes the guards on horseback will move slowly forward if a disabled person is present so they can stroke the horse, but THIS IS THEIR JOB!!!!!!! They are guarding our Sovereign. Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿
The one you paused on at the end is really good. Im from County Durham in North East England. Thank you for being respectful and entertaining ❤
I've come back almost a day later to say Thank-You, for expressing your respect towards our guards. Genuinely and sincerely. I appreciate you
This is at Horseguards Parade, there are warning signs, they are also soldiers and not just ceremonial, this also ministry of defense ground with MOD police.
Maybe they think it's Hogwarts Parade. Horseguards is the way Brits spell Hogwarts which is, of course, the correct (American/Webster) spelling. 😁
????????
There's one word missing from the world today, and that is RESPECT!!
You are now no longer allowed to touch the horse at all. New signs have been made and pictorial ones too. Partly to discourage but also because horses can bite and kick. I recommend London City Walks as a channel focusing on this.
Yup...that videographer is really good. He's fun to watch and usually explains a lot of what's going on.
As many others have said, these men are not just “guards”
They are fully active, serving soldiers
That sign you read was added to “do not touch the reins" then to "do not touch the horse" and now there's a sign with a horse's head with a red circle and line through it underneath the main sign.
This must be the worst deployment they get. Those horses are specially chosen for the job, well matched colours. Beautiful animals. They go on holiday to North Norfolk. Love the heavy horses that carry the drums in the band.
Joining the guards is a choice. Some people do it for the honour and ceremony.
I am sure things have been tightened up since then but in 1982 a guy called Michael Fagan got past all the Queens Guards and got into Her Majesty's bedroom..... they had a nice chat apparently
If the royal guard is caught smiling they can be fined up to a weeks pay.
Wrong
@@angelabushby1891not wrong. They can definitely be fined for not maintaining a "cold attitude that shows authority"
A lot of tourists just think that they are there for show.
The one guard who made the little girl cry did later on go and find her to apologise.
Grabbing the reins is one thing.. wearing a suit jacket over a gillet is downright unacceptable
The commentary at the beginning is wrong. The soldiers are not at Buckingham Palace. This is at Horseguards Parade.
Horse Guards have recently introduced a new sign which has added, 'don't touch the horse,' and a road-sign type of graphic representation. This has improved the situation, but too many tourists still walk around in a dream world, not noticing the signs, or engaging their brains before acting.
Most of these tourists are SO DISRESPECTFUL, how dare they
People need to not touch and keep control of their kids
couple of things, yes, they have to faint, to what is called fainting to attention
These are not chocolate soldiers. Some people find out the hard way.
I was once outside of Buckingham Palace and I overheard an American say “oh, it’s some guys dressed up as soldiers stomping around” 🤨
Amerikanare är inte de bästa besökare i England Jag tittar mycket på detta på UA-cam jag är svensk och älskar Hors guard ❤️👍
the little welsh girl accidentally got smacked because he didn’t see her (didn’t realise she was that close) but from what I remember he apologised after, she was fine though
I was literally there yesterday, the photo of me is me standing a good 3ft away from the horse. I wouldn't disrespect the guard this way x
Tyler Rumple you did a good job on this. As a fellow 🇺🇸 you shed light to others
This was not are filmed at Buckingham Palace. This is Horse Guards Parade. The horses-and the guards are changed every four hours.
the horses are changed every hour and the foot guardsmen every 2 hours!
This isn't a theme park people! This is an actual functioning armed guard.
I am NOT a royal gurd, hell, I'm not even british. But if some one I don't know comes up and touch my face for fun. Expect an elbow to the face! But then again, I'm Norwegian, we need a couple of meters around us. :D But I really do mean it, do NOT touch me.
The ‘swatting’ bit looks staged .A real guard would not ,as a rule, raise his hand to anyone. More likely a loud shout and a forceful step forward.Trying to get the guard to smile could end up costing him money as they can be fined fora breach of the rules.
@@ninamooresthat clip was fake apparently
Imagine stepping over the fence at Arlington's Tomb of the unknown soldier........
Tyler, the videos you were watching are old a bit late the sighs were changed to say "BEWARE HORSES MAY KICK OR BITE DO NOT TOUCH THE RAINS THANK YOU" (you were aloud to stroke the horse at the time), in the resent days after someone did a professional style footballer faint after they were bitten by a horse (this horse is know for biting) the sighs now say "BEWARE HORSES MAY KICK OR BITE DO NOT TOUCH THE HORSE THANK YOU"
also the clip at 11:50 is a fake guard.
I used to have a husky dog and random people would try to come up and hug my dog. Can you imagine how stupid people can be to just walk up to a dog and try to cuddle it, thing is she actually wasn't friendly in the slightest and a few people almost got their heads chewed off
I suppose you could compare it to the marines that guard the tomb of the unknown soldier, would you touch or disrespect them..
Pretty much. Their job is to protect the head of state and guard their residencies. It'd be like if the White House was guarded by the Secret Service and people kept harassing them.
They yell “make way for the kings guard” before they start . So it’s their fault for not paying attention. The parents should be responsible for moving their kids out of the way.
The big bear skin hats were taken from the battle of Waterloo. We use them as a way to remind the French that we beat them
I like your respectful personality, good reaction 👍
Thank you for pointing out that our queens guard are real soldiers and aren’t there for entertainment or ridicule I appreciate it ❤
A lot of tourists don't realise the Royal Guard are real soldiers and they are the best of the best as well, they take their job seriously and it is a great honour to be part of it so visitors should respect them,
I dislike the disrespect shown to the Royal guards. Makes me so mad how they disregard respect for these beautiful, magnificent animals.
Watch more of the mounted guard’s videos for how bold people are around a large animal that can hurt you badly by accident or really do some damage on purpose.
Hi ,I'm so glade YOU understand WHAT this is trying to exsplaning . Thay do,try and help by anounsing. Take care and all the best . It's a shame not every one is tort the same as you . 😊😊😊👍👍👍
There are signs now that say Don't Touch the Horse as well as a picture for those who do not speak english. Really enjoy your videos Tyler!
As a English girl I think this is so disrespectful to just touch our royal familys protecters when there just making sure the royals are safe doing that is like slapping the president on the back so hard it leaves a red mark
Tyler the Queens/Kings guard are active soldiers
Taking photos isn’t consider touching or invading space , however physically touching them is like treating them , those guns you see on their shoulders shoot real bullets
I cannot imagine any American playing any of these games around two posted United States Marine Guards and really not regret the entire stupid idea!
yes trying to make them laugh whilst retaining respect is actually quite another thing pretty funny
It's sad that they even need a sign telling people not to grab hold of a total stranger's horse's halter and thereby try to take over control of it at all. Even more worrying that they would need them when the total stranger in question is ARMED!
Just imagine an American tourist messing an American police officer on duty…
I've noticed that American visitors to Horseguards are among the most respectful of the tourists. There are exceptions, but they are very few.
11:50 - It wasn't just the disrespect, the guy was blocking the Guard's line of sight, directly affecting his ability to do his duty
If you were to walk up to a stranger and touch them without permission you'd probably get punched, why would this not apply to the royal guard?
only you could not manage to get through this whole video in nearly 25 minutes Tyler 😂
Every gard is a soldier and has a full regiment under them
The signs have been upgraded, “Do not touch the reins!”
The Guards shout 'Make way for the Queen or King's Guard' but people are unaware or downright rude.
These Guards are serving members of the Army 🪖
People are both stupid and deeply disrespectfull
The Guards have a set route to walk or march, they will not divert for no man, woman or child.
I give you credit for seeming to be here with a new video every day. I've seen quite a few who start off daily and over time post less and less.
