As an American the city of London is famous to me but I don't know all the much about it. Today I am very interested to learn about 10 shocking things about London. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!
Was in London a couple of years ago. Friday evening rush hour, dark and lashing rain. Could not get down to the tube in Oxford Circus because of the crowd. Asked a bus driver what bus to get back to Paddington Station Area. He told us to hop on and he brought us the whole length of Oxford Street, and gave us directions where to go. THIS BUS DRIVER AND BUS WAS OUT OF SERVICE. So thank you London. ☘☘☘

The fact that Tyler left 'that bit' in shows how resilient and defiant he is and has earned much respect from myself and others. I've always found him likeable... now he's an absolute LEGEND.

I think Americans use the word "shock" whilst we here in the UK say 'surprised' instead, and only are 'shocked' if the event we've heard about or witnessed is extreme... However...

I've barely seen much of my own country (something if Suffolk, Norfolk, Kent, East Sussex, once to Bristol and Weston-suoer-mare, and London only (& once, a trip with my school to Rome, Italy when I was 13) due to work and generally a lack of sufficient funding (plus being married to two men who, 1) didn't like spending money on me, but travelled the world with his second wife.., 2) my second husband was scared of flying so we stayed in East Anglia instead, which fine by me) so I've very little experience of seeing our beautiful planet... Admittedly, I have tried to watch several YT videos, documentaries, etc on history and the natural world.,,but even in just doing that, and seeing and learning about the natural wonders, historical structures and various cultures, I wouldn't say I was 'shocked' as such, at what I've learned to date... Maybe surprised, maybe amazed, maybe stunned at the differences etc..,but just not "shocked"... Especially at learning things like other people's driving on the opposite side of the road, or that some people are more religious than we tend to be here, or that other kitchens have mixer taps or "insinkerators" (the name given in an Australian 'horror' film, from years ago - it's called "Cross Talk" if you want to look it up!) so, it's just the word "shock" which _surprises_ me more than the thought of new countries, cultures, habits, police forces etc!! Maybe that's just me...!!

I’m a volunteer Tour Guide in York. We offer free two hour walking tours and that means no tips or commercial recommendations! Americans struggle to understand ‘free’. The Association of Voluntary Guides York has been offering these walk street for over 70 years, we are mostly retired and so do this as a hobby. We don’t take tips, because we are not beggars!
In Central and Greater London there are over 4,000 pubs.

Tyler, I’m 80 years old and have never seen a gun in my lifetime. I don’t want to either. I live in Scotland.
You must have missed that bried period when that clown House was back door trying to arm the whole force with Glocks (handguns). Once he got found out it was quickly stopped but there were armed police patrolling the likes of Inverness and St Andrews (those gun violence hotspots!) for a little while!

Yeah. Me, too. I'm one of those pest commenters who, after initially quite liking his content, relieve frustration by knocking him because he suspiciously often forgets to remember key things from previous videos and seems to be in it purely for the grift. (And also because it looks like he cues up his content as if it isn't a true reaction, and - even more annoyingly - never answers or addresses the more helpful comments). But, and whilst perhaps that is maybe all still the case(!), it could also be that this video gives us a clue as to why he does things the way he does... and that it is in fact myself that needs to "react and learn".
Did you spot the "10 Minute Vocal Warm Up", in the recommended videos? That's extra dedication to craft that I did not expect to learn about. As a Tourette's Syndrome sufferer, I knew there was a reason I kept coming back to this channel. My loyalty paid off!

But yes, some of Tyler's recurring content and methods has soured me since I first came across him (and continues to do so if I am being honest), but, irregardless, massive respect to him if this is what he has and that's a slip up in showing us how he has to deal with it as he makes his content.
Bravo for leaving in whatever was going on there, stammer, tic, health issue, disability. Whatever it was, it’s nice to see people being authentic and leaving that in there. Very brave.
To answer your question, there is some rain on about 100 days each year in London. New York has rain 170 days, Portland 160, Miami 140, Cincinnati 135, etc. So London gets an unfairly bad reputation.
That's slightly misleading...
It's not "rain on days" it's "days of rain in time"...
It actually rains on a lot more days in London but not for long periods of time and not high quantity. So more more days featuring rain, but less amount of rain per day.
London is grey/cloudy/wet 80% of the year. 15% will be "spotty" (Mixed weather) and 5% will be scorching sunshine.

I think you're wrong. Looking at the statistics on the official UK Meteorological Office website for Heathrow weather station, the average number of days on which there was >1 mm of rain is 112 days. That's in contrast with West Yorkshire, where the number of days with >1 mm of rain is 157, and Keswick in the Lake District, where it's 177 days.
@@jerry2357 I did not compare it to anywhere else in the UK... lol. The UK is always wet. So not sure why you are comparing it to other places in the UK and saying that i am wrong...
Also over 1mm does not include under 1mm... which is showers and light bursts.
Also Heathrow is barely in London... only it's entrance is... and it's miles from the actual town in the countryside part of London.

Re guns and the police, I think it's the first time I've heard "America" and "civilisation" used in the same sentence.
The drinking culture did shock me for sure. As a Dutchy I'm pretty used to drinking during daytime. But when you enter a restaurant during lunch time and see that 80% of people having beer it is kinda weird. But I was like....F*ck it, I'm gonna get my self a beer as well, cheers everyone😂

@@justmandy6572Gastropub where you can have an alcoholic drink with a meal, normal in UK. As for shutting at 11pm, that is late compared to the 50s and 60s when pub hours were w2 noon until 3pm. In the week, and 12 noon until 2pm on a Sunday. Night time used to be 7pm til 10.pm 7 days a week. People went home to sleep then. Where I grew up we had no late night or all day drinking. Women were only allowed in the Snug, men in the bar. Only food was pies or a sandwich, no hot food and NO KIDS allowed inside. There were no night clubs in towns you had to go to the cities like Manchester or Liverpool if living up North. Birmingham in the Midlands and London down South.
Guns were never on the gender here in UK, only used by Special Forces Police, not regular officers, Military carried guns to protect their bases. Criminals in big cities had them, normal, decent civilised people DID'NT need them. Btw. They are Police Officers. NOT Cops, this is NOT America where you think you are better than others. Unlike your country we DON'T have school shootings by students. Last one was in the 90s and carried out by an adult Male at a primary school. 5 to 11 years of age.
It's simple: Only police officers authorised to carry firearms will patrol with them. Authorised Firearms Officers (AFOs) go through additional specialist training (including a medical training course) and have to re-qualify regularly. Given that they make up a small number of the total police service they are well armed with a combination of carbines (typically H&C G36s), side arms (usually Glock 17s), tasers, ballistic protection including shields and a large trauma pack. Additionally, they will patrol in a specialist Armed Response Vehicles (ARVs) which in London are typically based on BMW SUVs. In other parts of the country they may be high-powered Audi A6s or BMW 5 series, etc. In rural parts of the country, ARVs are often tasked with other duties such as traffic police as the officers would be under utilised given that gun crime is sooooo rare!

The automatic carbine commonly used by UK Armed Response Units are Heckler & Koch G36 submachine weapons. These are used by many other police units around the world including USA. They are really only intended for serious and direct threat from illegal firearms. Hence why you will only see them with ARV units or regularly on patrol at places of potential terrorist target such as airports or travel hubs but not carried by regular cops.

I am an Itallian living in London, and I can tell you that isn't raining that much and the rain is polite too, 😊 it rains at night or just for one hour, then stops, and it's hardly ever heavy, just a drizzle. Also the beauty of London is in the fact that is that multicultural, that is a peculiarity that you will find only here and it is part of the London culture, their heritage is so strong that they aren't scare of inviting in other culture and embracing them, that is what makes London current, relevant, forever young and vibrant.
It feels like history is also now, it keeps adding to the past. London is not one of those towns stuck in the past, it's evolving, moving, changing, adding new to the centuries old stuff and the new stuff is just as interesting and as relevant as the old one. London profile changed so much in the past 30 years, so many significant landmarks have been added that are now so much part of London identity. That is the London vibe that we European love about London.

My parents have been several times(London too) and only have good things to say about it. Travel and meeting new people, experiencing new cultures is my passion.

In England, Scotland, and Wales, the everyday street cops don't carry guns, but there are armed response units for when they are needed. However, in Northern Ireland, all cops do carry guns.
The police with machine guns are stationed near high security buildings or when carrying out protection duties, such has the Parliament, airports, state occasions, etc. There are also armed response unts in cars/vans who respond to serious incidents, but the weapons are kept out of sight until they are needed.
Where I live in the UK we having a saying, "If you don't like the weather wait half an hour", it is possible to start with sunshine, then have a rain shower and back to sunshine again within an hour.
Why do people say "machine guns" when they mean "automatic rifles"?
Its one of those terms that have become part of colloquial English, think the origin goes back to the 19th century when the early rapid fire weapons, e.g. the Maxim gun, were seen as killing machines when compared to the hand weapons of the time. .
@@kerouac2 To me that always conjures up pictures of the local copper hunched up over a steaming, stuttering WW2-type death-machine; while a plucky local lad feeds him ceaseless rounds of live ammo. It's up there with misuse of the word " Windmill". (A very ancient ancient invention) to mean "Wind Turbine" (a very modern invention).
On another UA-cam channel a lost girl was unscared to stand next to an armed police, that's how approachable our police are.
We are a small country and people get surprised when they visit. Once an American asked another if we had beaches, his friend said they are a bloody Island. ❤️🇬🇧

@@Queenbee-pm3nz One of the first things that a visitor sees arriving at an international airport is armed police officers even straight off the plane as one walks to baggage reclaim.
Though the Diplomatic Protection Group do, the ones who certainly protect Downing Street are armed.

There are over 100 museums & galleries in London which are free admission. Notable among these is The British Museum, the National Gallery, the Imperial War Museum, the Tate Gallery, and the Science and Natural History museums. Remember too, that churches (like Westminster Abbey) which charge admission, do not charge to attend services.
When crossing the road look both ways regardless of country! European 3 year olds can cross a road.... Maybe that's why its illegal in America 😂

Why do you always make fun of the weather in London? New York gets DOUBLE the rainfall annualy, so go and make fun of New York.
Its why we have night clubs that stay open till 5am , some boozers have 24 hour licences , There is also a thing called a Lockin , Thats normally for locals
Pubs. Of course there are a lot in London, there are millions of people there. You do not have to drink alchohol, there are soft drinks and sometimes even tea and coffee on offer. They are a place to socialise and to wind down after work. The local is a home from home, so much so that our dogs drag us there at least a couple of times a week.😆
I explained years ago to SA friends, and recently to friend of friends* from the USA, that yes, we navigate by pubs too, and that's because the coaches, pre mechanisation, were where the horses were changed, travellers got on and off, folk stopped overnight, ate, the post was exchanged etc. *These lovely people sent thank you cards on returning home, to us for our hospitality, and to the local pub, which they enjoyed, and now understand. 😁🍻

In Northern Ireland all police carry firearms, whereas in the rest of the United Kingdom, firearms are only carried by specially trained firearms officers.
The whole UK is international. I live I Oxfordshire and I can easily hear six different languages walking down the high street. My manager is Polish.
I live in a small market town and up until a few years ago you would only hear English spoken. But now, it's hard to hear any English spoken or see a true Brit

The pubs close at 11 but the night clubs and bars stay open till the early morning

One could legally consume alcohol in a pub 24/6 (not Sunday), depending on where, some pubs had early licences around the wholesale markets opening around 5am to 3pm and others night licences opening around 9pm to 6am, they were close to Fleet Street when newspapers were printed there.

This was a delightful reaction. Thanks. I am an 86 year old Australian. When I visited New York on my way home from teaching for a year in a London University I spent a few wonderful days in NY. One early evening I needed to go somewhere from our off-Broadway hotel. I quickly realized I was lost and did what any English or Australian citizen would do - I approached and asked a NY mounted police officer the way. After some initial concern he pleasantly guided me. Twenty minutes later as I crossed Broadway again the same officer accosted me.. This time I was more concerned, but he asked me If I was a "Limey' and if I had a Jubilee florin as he was a coin collector. If ever had a negative view of the NY cop it was dispelled then. Not so different from the Pommie or Aussie cop.
They have the traffic directions written on the floor because most of the neighbouring continent contries drive on the left side. Not specifically because of americans.
Looking both ways before you walk out into the road you'd think would be common sense... no?

The pub culture is not just limited to London it is all over the UK. Here in Dundee I have 7 pubs within 200 yards of my house and I do not even live in the City Centre. However everyone has their "local" so you will see and know the same people when you go in.

Yes, he got it under control fairly smoothly. My son has Tourettes and symptoms are rapid blinking and repetitive words for a moment. I really respect him more than I did before - we all need to acknowledge that so many people struggle with disorders of all types; that's the reality. Your a brave man Tyler. Love you
One of the most frightening things we had to adjust to when we went from New Zealand to Atlanta for college was seeing police carrying guns. It was a shock and made us very nervous. I had never seen a hand gun in my life before we got there. I had seen rifles for duck shooting and hunting, but not people walking around the city shops wearing guns. Thanks for your reaction. I agree with you about American gun culture, I remember my first arrival in North Dakota seeing a guy walking through the airport with a gun on his hip and spurs on his boots, I wondered if he'd left his horse tied up outside!

We have travelled to the USA for the last 30 years and the exchange rate has ALWAYS been to our advantage. Typically we get $1.25 to our £1. The strength of the $ is a myth to make Americans think they have the advantage. The whole of the UK is international, not just London. Our small market town has Thai, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Spanish, lots of them.

Many countries give free access to their national museums. It gives access to art and culture to the less fortunate, so elevates basic knowledge in society.

A lot of this channel is either a demonstration of how pointless it is for Tyler to try and learn anything or a demonstration it's just faked for the money he makes off of us.
The idea that the 'Look Right' on the ground is especially for American Tourists !
Its not just Americans just stepping out in the road. The look right signs are for Europeans also because more of them visit London then Americans
It’s also not just for Europeans many counties have visiting tourists, from Japan to Brazil and the rest of the world
Actually some signs are for ALL, including locals... Due to the many ONE-WAY streets with traffic going against the normal, expected flow. So some DO SAY look LEFT !!! 😊
Yeah - it's that completely unconscious "Hey, we're the best/most important/" implicit in so many people from USA that prompts them to imagine we take safety measures - like reminding people from all over the world about the traffic flow - purely for for visitors from the USA.☺🤭
Because of our location, our whether is variable. It can rain a lot, it can rain very little. It can be cold in summer, it can be mild in winter. We can have winters with no snow (I live just south of London and don't recall any snow this past winter), we can have a lot of snow. We can have heatwaves in summer, we can have no heatwaves in summer. That's why we talk about the weather so much, we just never know what we're going to get!
British weather is unpredictable
Retired meteorologist here. One of the most notable features of the British climate is how cloudy it is and the further north you go the worse it gets. Rainfall is mostly not heavy but it can rain for quite a long time. Destructive events are pretty rare but they can happen. Britain, overall, is not the place for spectacular weather records.
Note to everyone outside the UK, Police in our country only use guns including some submachine guns when they belong to specialist teams which are used in certain situations and have to be called in and authorised.
Another reactor from Rhode Island talked of all the rain in England. He was surprised at my comment that having goggled it, I could tell him that the rainfall in England was exactly the same as Rhode Island.

It is very easy to be a turist in London! Easy to get around and people are very helpful.
Police officers not carrying firearms instills a different mindset; the first instinct is to de-escalate tense situations rather than having a combative approach knowing that you have immediate recourse to deadly force if (or when) the situation escalates.
That is not to say that British Police go naked on the streets. All carry some sort of 'club', nowadays typically an extending baton rather than the traditional truncheon. Most will also have some sort of irritant spray ('pepper spray') and an increasing number are trained and authorised to carry tasers (non-lethal 'stun guns').
It's worth noting that, when polled, officers have consistently voted against routinely carrying firearms.
What they do have, and which is far more useful in most cases, is a radio and an effective control and despatch centre. When firearms support is needed it can (at least in urban areas) be on the scene within minutes.
Armed response vehicles with appropriate weapons, equipment and highly trained firearms officers are always on patrol and ready to respond when required--but, when not required the weapons are locked back into their racks and the officers are likely to be back to advising tourists how to find their way to the nearest Underground station (right across the road in most cases) or chatting with local traders.
Unlike many countries, the majority of officers really are "happy to help" and very approachable. I recall in one case (not in London, where I try to avoid driving) I not only ran out of fuel but also had a dead battery in my phone. Wandering randomly around trying to find a vaguely remembered petrol ('gas') station I was lucky enough to spot a couple of officers on foot patrol. When asked for directions they not only walked with me for half a mile to buy a gallon of fuel but also radioed their staion to advise that they were attending my 'abandoned' vehicle and it wasn't to be ticketed or towed in the mean time, then helped me carry the can back to the car, while all the time keeping up an amiable conversation. At no point did they feel the need to demand to see ID, have me remove my hands from my pockets "for their safety" while fingering their (nonexistent) holsters or even sniff suspiciously and suggest a field sobriety test (we stopped using them 60 years ago) on spotting an open beer can nestling among the remains of my lunch on the passenger seat. They did, however, make the inevitable joke about not drinking and driving, "You'll spill it when cornering" and question my life choices and virility when noting it was a Bud Lite. In my defence, it was a hot day and the only remaining choices in the cold cabinet when I picked up lunch were the said Bud Lite or some alcohol free abomination. I chose the marginally lesser of two evils.
Altogether they made an otherwise irritating inconvenience a pleasant half hour or so.
This experience is not untypical; I remember, back in my much younger days, knocking on the window of a patrol car at 2.30 am asking for help in settling a drunken argument about the name of a character in a 1960s children's TV show. They were happy to oblige, with help from colleagues via radio calls (and I was right--the captain of Stingray *was* Troy Tempest. Take that, Gary!).

@@sandrab9088 Yeah, probably Tourettes or the like, I've noticed it before with his tics and his memory, sometimes being repetitive, but I still like him so I pay it no mind. Sadly, some comments here seem to relish putting him down for it.
The 'look right' on the road isn't just for tourists, sometimes busses drive in the 'wrong direction' because a bus lane might run counter to the traffic. In the UK if you don't like the weather, you wait for 10 mins.
Drinking, we are allowed to drink in our own homes from 5 (yep not a typo) from 16 you can have a wine, beer or cider with a meal as long as an adult buys it. From 18 you can buy your own.
I don't think London is overly expensive, its a capital city so not cheap but as long as you're not shopping in Harrods, its not that bad 🤷♀️

You don't have to live in a major city to receive lots of tourists. Just a famous one with lots of history and 'quaintness'. I live in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. You're average small city with about 120.000 people. We get swamped by tourists from the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Belgium. Usually in large groups. And all through the year. If you did a study you could set the time of year with the origin of the average tourist. Love 'm or hate 'm they are good for the local economy.

I recently had a month in Egypt, but despite having been before, it took me quite a while to get used to looking to the left when crossing the hectic roads in the cities. It is programmed into you to look the other way!
For reference the number 14 bus is as good as tour bus to see sights.
Catch it at St Paul’s cathedral it will go past law courts to Trafalgar Square and past National art gallery and British museum
To Picadilly Circus past Old Bond Street where Libertys is , Green Park, Park Lane , Hyde Park Corner , V and A museum ,, Kensington , Harrods , other buses take similarly interesting site, it a lot cheaper just to get a day ticket and hop off and on to see what sites you want.

Also, rather than getting one of the sight seeing buses, you can do a Single journey on a traditional Routemaster Bus for £2.50 (or an Adult Day ticket). The Heritage Route T15... 🤔
Well, if you go to St Paul's and wait for a number 14 bus you will be waiting till kingdom come. I know, because of living in south west London. It starts in Russell Square, but does not go past the law courts but IS an easy route for the British Museum. After that it goes through Cambridge Circus and down Shaftesbury Avenue to Piccadilly Circus. It doesn't go through Trafalgar Square, therefore doesn't go by the National Art Gallery. It does go past the end of Old Bond Street but as Liberty is not situated there, but off Regent's Street, a couple of minutes from Oxford Circus, you'd have quite of a slog getting there. The rest of the route you describe is correct, but don't forget that the bus also goes past Chelsea Football Club and passes the starting point for the Oxford v Cambridge rowing event in Putney before ending at Putney Heath (near where I live), which is the start of a glorious swathe of parkland that extends all the way to Wimbledon Village, great for countryside walkers.
Of added interest to film buffs is that if you get off at the stop called Putney Bridge, you can see the church and riverbank (in Bishop's Park on the north bank of the Thames) that was used in the original Omen movie.
@@tonybennett4159 not what current transport for London route says, I checked as I haven’t lived in London for some time. I did however catch the good old number 14 myself on a visit to London a couple of years ago. Any possible visitor can easily look at routes on the transport for London site and see which go past things they want to see for the price of a ticket , not the exorbitant tourist buses. The experience of travelling on the top deck on a bus through London is well worth having.
We went to Rome , checked a bus route and just took a normal bus. We got to see all sorts of places and sitting at a bus stop with citrus tress with all their fruit on them was something I won’t forget as well as seeing all sorts of places we got off and got on again with a day ticket.
Latest was travelling around Brussels by bus , got to see loads of places just getting off and on with a day ticket. Happened to get off just in time to see a parade with the Kings and Queen of Brussels and Rotherham Netherlands going to an official event together.
Done it in loads of city breaks having looked up bus routes.
11pm last orders is a left over from the old regulations. Pubs are licenced fot specific hours, but they apply for the hours they want to open. Most pubs open from around noon, but there are others that open early morning, mainly for food but some people are drinking at 8am

In Canada every house has either electric or one permanently stored on the stove (and every workplace has electric) - I didn't know that was unheard of in the States.
Lots of bars that I know In Birmingham are open to 12am and 1 - 3/4am Thurs - Sat, with some gay bars/live music/club venues open till 5/6am…. Similar in London but not as late there I’ve noticed, lots would be open 9/10am for breakfasts etc and all open by 11/12pm for drinking/lunch… 🍻👍🏼🇬🇧
If a stranger/tourist asks for advice, we give it if we can. If not we'll apologise and say, sorry i dont, but advise where they may be able to get their answer.
I went to see the sights of London about Fifty years ago I may go again sometimes but it is a Three or four hour drive or a long Train journey. I always find something else I’d rather do.
If you fly into London airport you don't really need to drive there are so many buses and the underground
Pubs close at about half eleven /midnight. With last orders about 11. Then you go to a bar. Very different to a pub. Also nightclubs both open till about 2 or 3. But there’s also places open till about 5am!
London pubs used to be almost always staffed by Aussies and Kiwis.
Being a tourist anywhere you cant just NOT go to a tourist trap because of the cost. If you wan to go GO!.
I would recommend if you have a specific interest getting a local guide for a few hours is so helpful, but tell them before hand what you want to see.

Here is just a short list of SOME of the free museums in London: British Museum, Tate Modern, National Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), Natural History Museum, Science Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain. This is not an exhaustive list, there are more.

Fun fact PUB is the short name for public house which is open to all people from open (about 10am) till close (11/12pm) unless your a child and curfew is 8-9 pm the last time I checked
Just so you know Tyler most pubs close at 11 because if they wanted to open any later they would have to pay for a late license. But some bars like wetherspoons apply for the late license and open until 2am. Also nightclubs open til early hours too. The town I live in all the pubs in the town centre open until 2am but the ones out of the town centre shut at 11pm ish. Most people in the UK drink at home til about 9.30-10pm and then go to a wetherspoons and get hammered til 2am if they want to go on a bender.
In Britain, you can approach & ask a policeman for directions & won't get shot or even slammed to the ground.

Just to give you some cool things to react to. We have many stately homes that are national trust properties that people can go see such as longleat, Chatsworth house, belton house, Osbourne house, hampton court palace, Blenheim palace. You can find videos on them
The reason we drive on the left is from the romans, most were right handed and their swords were carried on the left so they could march and draw their swords without having to turn to fight, some countries in the Caribbean were former territories of the uk, so they drive on the left, also Japan drive on the left.
People go into Pubs after work on their home. “Last orders” are called at 10.40pm. And “Drinking up time” is called at 10.50pm. Closing time is 11.00pm.
Last call is not always 11. We have 24 hour drinking but not in every establishment. The place i drink is midnight during the week but fri and sat is 1
Guns only come out by specialist police. When a gun is used by the offender.
Pubs everywhere in the UK and London open at 11:00 and close at 23:30. Bars and Clubs will have a different 'licence' and open 19:00 to 02:30. Big cities like London if you know where to go you can drink the clock round.
The bar thing is a little off. You get regular bars that opem in the morning (especially if they do food) and close at like 11. Then you can late bars that are open till like 2am and clubs that could be upen till as late as 4am

We’re a small island so we’re vulnerable to rain showers. Spring and summer are very pleasant weather wise.
With regards to cops and guns, it's generally common knowledge that most UK Police don't carry. Many carry Tasers, but we do not live in a gun culture here so there is not so much a need. They are also a lot more friendlier and know how to talk to people. You will see armed cops in London usually around key tourist attractions or higher risk areas. Of course they will have high readiness armed police units that can deploy quickly to gun or knife incidents.

As a Brit myself I actually go to London to experience the multicultural side of the city with different foods, music, communities etc. I'm personally not that interested in the generic touristy stuff

Unfortunately, alot of pubs have been closing down over the last few decades.
More rurally there just isn't the demand anymore due to readily available retail alcohol and the modern lack of drink driving.
Iconic london is seeing the horse guards ,but don’t be like a lot of tourist.
The guards are not just ornamental ,the horse guards and red and blue coated guards are actually highly trained soldiers ,if you don’t get out their way they will yell at you or just barge you out of the way .
They absolutely are not just dressed up civilians .
Don’t mess with horses ,they may bite or kick ,and it p155es the guards of when people treat them like it’s a petting zoo and lord help you if you lay your hands on the horses rains .😂
Here Tyler there was an episode of “crime stoppers” in uk they recreated an armed robbery, a member of public reported and in 4 mins an armed response was there!
