Wayne Bergeron did not play lead on this chart he played second trumpet Dan Fornero played lead on this chart. Wayne Bergeron switches with Dan Fornero on some songs to make it easier to get through a concert/ set.
Wow! Just wow, your chops are like invisible man. I mean your endurance and embouchure technique and tone sounds really really good. Can you give me some tips on how to improve my endurance and phrasing when it comes to jazz?
Thanks so much man! Endurance is the simplest technique on trumpet to improve but it can take a ton of work. The only way is to play for long periods of time, even when your chops are tired (NOT when they hurt; that’s how you injure yourself) and just spending a lot of time on the horn in general. Naturally, playing full in the upper register also strengthens your embechoure from the extra stress as well. Phrasing can be developed by transcribing and playing along to solos/lead charts, while really paying attention to minute details such as their sound, feel, and inflections. Try to copy as best as you can.
you are correct. dan played lead on this chart. i was going to mention the same thing, but i looked to see if anyone else mentioned it first. this cover was definitely great, tho. :]
If you’ve listened to the Louis Dowdeswell recordings of Wayne’s covers from some 10 years ago you’d probably agree that these videos share the same vibe (just that yours are MUCH more high quality) You sound awesome, please keep uploading!
Try to play with as little movement as possible, and play in front of a mirror sometimes so you can see how much you’re straining. Always be conscious of whether or not you’re pulling the horn into your face as well. Practice playing super super softly in the upper register, it can help you understand that playing high is actually not difficult, it’s playing LOUD and high that takes strength.
Work on your lip trills between two notes first, then try doing a trill between two notes that are multiple partials apart. Start low and work up the speed until you get a smooth connection of the notes, and increase the distance. I suggest listening a lot and watching videos on more thorough explanations of the shake.
Honestly, just play songs and exercises in the high register. Long tones on notes that you can hit but need to be stronger can also improve tone on high notes will giving you the chops to play it more consistently
I see people hit high G seemingly pretty easy. I can hit the F right below it pretty easy but the G just isn't very good. Is that just me? Or is it actually just a tad bit different to get up there
I was the same way for a long time. I could hit a F or F# no problem by the end of 7th grade (started playing in 6th) but took a couple years to get a solid G. After playing on a couple different horns it seems like certain horns like different/alternate fingerings when you get way up there.
This is typical of this trying to outshine the greats and it fails miserably. Not to mention not doing home work enough to know who was actually doing lead on this chart.
Who says I’m trying to outshine anyone? Why do you post so many hate comments? Do you suck at music or something? Please I’m begging you, post your version.
Firstly the fact you advertise this as a Wayne Bergeron lead trumpet part shows you did little homework… as someone already had to point out he didn’t even do lead on this chart. Secondly this seems more about ego than anything else. So you can play along with a lead part…. That entirely different from holding a lead chair down in a band for a two hr concert. Also I’ve never heard anyone say…. Hey look I can play along with the second trpt part… why? Because I doubt anyone would be interested. Wayne’s done three albums you going to play along through his entire rep…. Because he played lead with bob Florence, Tom kubis bull watrous as well as Gordon Goodwin. I’ve made no criticism of your playing but I have brought to light your motivations for why you might be doing something like this
@@jonburton1935 I do "something like this for two reasons: #1 It's fun and I like to do it. #2 Other people are motivated when they see people post videos of them playing online. You conveniently didn’t address the actual crux of what I was alluding to and the fact you’re thumb nailing a video with inaccurate information which someone has already pointed out. Secondly….youre not doing this to encourage others…..you doing it for your ego. You could have played the lead part on lil darlin or splanky…. But no, you went for one of the most difficult lead parts out there. Well it’s soon to be Christmas…. Why don’t you do oh holy night or hark the herald…. Show everyone you’re equally as good as Wayne…. But oh wait I think several people have done that already. When all is said and done… playing lead parts like this can be fun and I never said it wasn’t…..I just really don’t buy the fact that you’re intending to inspire or motivate others because I strongly doubt that’s the case.

How much do you rest? Everything I've seen is to take a lot of rests
@@Yoshinori76 ideally if you had the whole day to practice you’d aim for half playing and half rest
@@Yoshinori76 you rest as much as you play basically. Obviously it doesn’t have to be strict but as long as they are close to each other
Incredible playing, in ALL ways. It's all there.
Thank you very much :)

Louis is a total pro and has ACTUALLY played lead with GG phat band.

Whats your secret to that perfect lip trill on that C? Are you using a small hand shake or all lips
wow, I regret quitting after seeing this
Haha thanks man!
At bar 73, on the high E flat, how do make that sound? I’ve been able to sorta do it
