The Dior Holiday Lipsticks 2023 are NOT a good deal!

- The Christian Dior limited edition holiday collection beauty sets used to be a great deal - especially the lipstick set, because it usually came with a free cosmetic pouch or Dior clutch, that can be repurposed as an actual Christian Dior evening bag. Unfortunately the value for money on the Dior holiday sets got worse and worse with each year and in 2023 it's not a good deal at all. IIn this video I want to review the Rouge Dior MINAUDIÈRE Lipstick Holiday Christmas collection lipstick set - based on the informations an pictures form the Dior website. In my opinion the Christian Dior lipsticks for the holiday collection are not worth it anymore and the price increases have reached an insane level.
The Christian Dior 2023 lipstick set comes with 4 lipsticks, a golden clutch case and a chain and retails for 290 $ (and 350€). We take a very close look, if the Dior lipsticks, clutch and lipstickcase from the holiday collection 2023 is still worth it, and why it's not, when doing the math.

I think people get the set only for the clutch and not for the lipsticks, it is because they can get a Dior bag for under $300 dls
You’re probably right.. but a $300 cosmetics clutch wouldn’t be very appealing to me 🙈…
Valentino for example released a way better deal: 3 lipsticks in a set with a free cosmetic pouch for around $50 (which is less, than the 3 lipsticks would be on their own)

Probably bc of where I live, but wearing a "freebie" beauty pouch or clutch as a bag just doesn't appeal to me and that is probably bc its easily recognizable as the freebie to those who shop these products. I see the appeal to others bc it comes with the chain it is less awkward than turning a fabric makeup pouch into a bag. I shouldn't care what other ppl think but going to dinner and everyone around is wearing true Dior/Chanel/ etc,...I'd feel like ti would stand out in a bad way wearing it. I'd just rather wear true handbag, even if the brand isn't as luxurious, I usually my ysl loulou small black on black for the city.
I agree, even if I would own that clutch, in 99% of occasions, I would always pick another bag instead - an actual bag! This will always stay a freebie in my mind 🙈 and everyone, who‘s at least somewhat into luxury, will be able to tell, that it came with a Dior cosmetics purchase 😅 - and worst of all: not even for free 😂
The price jump was really a lot imo as well. Good thing is finally this one can fit a phone inside. I was debating until I was able to get a good discount on this, which makes it worth the money. May not buy it in full price though as it can basically only fit 1 small size iPhone + 1 lip stick in there. No issue with the quality, nice looking and nice metal feel, no longer look like a “lipstick set bag” either, except for the ones who know about it.
Happy to hear you were able to get it with a discount💕! If I would find it at a better price, I maybe would consider it aswell (unfortunately in Germany it sold out and never even got on sale)

I do not wear makeup. In theory I agree with you. In practice, if I wore makeup i would probably buy it just to get the clutch! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I see the point 😂 - in the past, I myself have been soooo tempted by the Dior Holiday lipstick sets because of the clutches💄. But since I didn’t buy one back in the days, when it still was a good deal and the clutch actually still was for free - I‘m most definitely not starting to buy it now 😂

Hi, just have in mind it doesn't really say that the clutch is for free or a "freebie" I add the description: The Dior clutch can be worn over the shoulder with its chain strap or carried in the hand for a modern, sophisticated look.
This clutch contains a Rouge Dior lipstick in shade 999 velvet finish accompanied by 3 refills.
It doesn't say is a freebie with your lipstick purchase so is just how you are contemplating the product not actually how the product is sold or advertised.
You’re right, I'm probably still in the past with my expectations - the Dior lipstick clutch used to be a freebie (even a value set, so that you paid less than the individual lipsticks would cost) - and I think it's sad, that this is no longer the case.
Just because it no longer says "for free" in the description, doesn't mean that the production costs Dior more than a few cents - they could still make it a freebie 🙈. I personally would prefer, if they sticked to the faux leather clutches with golden embellishments for free, than putting out hardcover clutches for so much…
I was gonna go for it however it was half the price of a YSL Envelope clutch here in Australia 😶 so i decided i'll buy the actual real clutch instead of this.

Glad you’re feeling better! I agree, this set isn’t worth it. The loyalty program gives terrific freebies. They are better than this set. I did get the one Chanel gift set this year only because it had two skincare items that I will use - one that I already use and one that I wanted to try, so that was a win. They are not worth it just for the pouch.
Did you get a golden Chanel charm with your order✨? I was so so SO tempted for the Chanel holiday sets this years aswell, cause I absolutely love these cute little charms (but ended up not ordering, since it‘s not even safe I would get one 😅🙈)
@@LuMiLevelUp No, unfortunately I didn’t. My set was a web exclusive. I think you only get the charms at the beauty boutiques or in stores with a Chanel counter. I wanted one, too! If I order more, probably not holiday but I do need some things, I’ll let you know if I get one.
I always wanted one of those Dior clutches though that it comes with. I have so many designer lipsticks for decoration but give never used any of them. I personally just can't wear anything on the lips.
The packaging of luxury lipsticks can be so nice (but the case of that Dior lipstick is not even special… they could have given it a special Holiday Collection design ✨)

Yes we have them here aswell ☺️ (from drugstore cosmetics to perfumery/highend cosmetic brands for example Mac and luxury like YSL & Dior). I myself had a drugstore „Essence“ one before and the Rituals calendar several times (even did an unboxing of this years Rituals calendar quite recently on my channel) 😁. And last year I did a video with the titel „Spilling the tea on Luxury Advent Calendars: are they worth it?“, covering alo my thoughts on the topic ☺️❤️. To sum it up: if the value for money is good on a beauty calendar, I‘m not averse (but some calendars are terribly overpriced aswell 🙈)

So sad they kept and kept increasing the prices, to a point, it‘s not a good deal anymore. It used to be 5 lipsticks and a free case/clutch, with a lower price and higher value than the lipstick price 😅
Well at least they made the container look more like an actual clutch this year 😂😂 but it’s still only 4 lipsticks and over 300€…..😳
If they keep raising the prices like that, next year one lipstick in that set might come to 100€ 😂

Same, if the clutch was incredibly cute, I still might get tempted. But everyone, who’s just a tiny bit into luxury, will be able to spot, that it‘s just a beauty clutch, that came with a cosmetics purchase… and that’s definitely not worth 140$ to me 😅🙈

I haven't watched any other videos about this set because I don't buy makeup without spf anymore😅 but tbh, now I'm tempted to buy the set for the clutch😂 it's cheaper than an actual dior clutch and it's metal right? More durable than leather/ fabric. Omg, how did I just brainwash myself?😂😂😂
Hahaha, that’s not what this video was supposed to do 😂😂 . It probably is some kind of very thin metal and it‘s definitely cheaper, than an actual Dior clutch - but it’s still just a piece, that comes with cosmetics 😁 (you don’t need it 🤫)
