Fun Fact: Paul Reubens got the idea for Pee Wee's Big Adventure when he was on the Warner Brothers lot one day and saw everyone was riding bikes. He jokingly asked the people around him "So when do I get my bike?" A couple weeks later, they actually gave him a bike as a joke. That very moment, he got the idea for a movie about a cool bike being stolen and wrote the entire script within a few weeks. The bike they gave him is the exact bike that's in the movie poster.
Ironically, prior to this, Paul had an initial meeting with Paramount Pictures to make a Pee Wee movie, but they ultimately passed, viewing Pee-Wee as still primary a cult figure but not someone ready to carry a movie. Paul, in response, launched a cross-country tour of his stage show, during which time, he and Phil Hartman spent the off-hours writing the script for Big Adventure which they handed to Warners the day after he invited the executives to see the closing night of the tour in Los Angeles, at the Universal Amphitheater. Paul would later work with Paramount for the second Pee-Wee movie, Big Top Pee Wee, in 1988.
@@orbison To me, it just shows how hard it is to break into show biz. He had an undeniable talent but had to go out and set the world on fire before he was taken seriously be studio execs.
Paul Reubens nails his first staring role, Burton knocked it out of the park as a first time director, and Elfman killed it for his first film score. The stars truly aligned with Big Adventure. They made an all time classic.

That scene with Twisted Sister will always be my favorite part of the chase.
The "Hows it goin?" always makes me laugh
I've used a screen shot of that scene as my FB cover photo. 😅
Yes!
Especially that Twisted Sister and Pee Wee couldn’t be anymore DIFFERENT.
According to IMDB, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were supposed to be in that scene but Petty rejected it
Lmaooo his shouts when he's slapping the guy's hand away 😂😂😂
I freakin’ love this scene. 🤣 Pee Wee, you always will be a legend. Thank you for the laughs, dude!
This movie is absolutely one of my top 5 favorites
My sister and I were 6 and 8 years old when this movie came out. Our daycare center took us along with the other kids to see this movie during the summer of 1985.
RIP Paul Reubens (PeeWee).
They just don't make sequences like this anymore. It's amazing how much care was given to each and every aspect of this chase.
Pee Wee will always be remembered for stopping Twisted Sister from making the lamest music video of all time.
I headcanon that, in the Peeweeverse, TS said "Fuck it" and used the footage they'd got of Peewee blitzing by and then slow-mo footage of the boat crashing into the car, making the music video 1000x better
💀🤣😂
The man, the myth, the legend can now ride in peace with his bicycle
RIP 🪦 🕊️
AMEN TO THAT
5:10 There goes. Riding away into heaven. :(
Found the bicycle in 2021 at the Max Factor museum off of Hollywood Blvd. Did they bury him with it?
And enjoy himself at adult movie theaters in peace
@@danielwilliamson6180 Oh, this guy's not in Heaven. Masturbating in public? In possession of child pornography? He's definitely roasting now.
That fucking guard trying to Tarzan scream before he plunges into the water is just too much 🤣
This is right up there with the ending to Blazing Saddles
Glad you mentioned that film, since both films are released by WB and have stuff happen on their lot.
And also show the studio lot. Its cool
He’s flying like an angel now with his bike at 5:08. RIP Paul Reubens
Probably an ET reference. I forget when that came out.
Peewee on his bike, being chased by a boat, pulling santas sleigh, with godzilla riding along. Gotta love the randomness 😂😂😂😂

Forget "Bullitt" and "The Seven-Ups," THIS is the best chase scene ever filmed!!!
Do you know bullet was also a Warner Bros. movie in 1968
The director was like, “Wait… Was that in the script??”
Priceless.
I like that Japanese film producers were filming a Godzilla movie on a Warner Bros. sound stage instead of in Japan under Toho's watch.
you didnt know that godzilla movies are distributor on warner bros in american version of called monsterverse franchise partnered with legendary pictures
1:51 that is some wile E. Coyote sh*t right there 😂😂😂😂😂
Glad to see I’m not the only one who came here to pay my respects to the legendary Paul Reubens🙏❤
Thanks for bringing our childhoods Pee Wee.
As a kid, I never noticed the "Wizard of Oz" nod with the music -- it's Almira Gulch's music when she rides her bike to Dorothy's house.
