This is a good way to give both Axel and Ripper some good character development. Wish they had done the same with Eva back in the original series; maybe not giving her a love interest but at least a few more episodes to develop the character beyond 'angry buff girl'.
Ripper is my favorite character this season. He's single-handedly carrying it, he's becoming a good person, no fart jokes, and he's really charming and romantic now. His relationship with Axel is the relationship in TD, I never knew I wanted, but really needed, one of my overall favorite ships of TD, if not my favorite overall.

Axel puts up a tough girl front. But personally I think when it comes to relationships, she wants to be classically romanced. Poetry, flowers, etc. She turned Ripper down initially bc she thought he wasn’t that type of guy she was looking for. And Ripper indeed doesn’t give a romantic guy impression. But actions speak louder than words. Turns out, Ripper has no problem writing a love poem and reciting in front of EVERYONE to confess his feelings. That takes a lot of guts😂
This feels like the start of Ripper's redemption. Man is at least trying to be a gentleman and that's appreciated.
