Funny how you described that old Youth Dew as "the smell of ancient wisdom." It became like a light bulb moment for me because I think that description fits you to a T as a perfume expert. I am sure all of us here are fascinated by the wisdom, insights and knowledge you've gathered through all the years, and that you so generously share with us here in your channel. Truly, watching your videos is akin to sitting by the foot of an ancient master himself, and being schooled in perfumery in ways no longer available these days. We are so lucky to have discovered you but I am hoping that secret gets shared to all fragrance fanatics. Because your wisdom will enrich everyone in the perfumery world. Thank you for sharing your gift.

I really enjoyed the part of about affordable. Obviously, niche our thing but I was starkly reminded that things are getting out of hand when I went to the parfumerie here in Melbourne to try Scuro by Bois 1920 and I loved it. The price? $480 in Monopoly money, sorry I meant AUD. 😁
An average salary here in AUD is about 750 a week or so, to put it in perspective. As much as I loved it, I can’t see myself spending that much for a Parfum and I ended up buying one from Jovoy that I always wanted for half that.
Goodness me - that certainly ain’t cheap either! I think we’re clearly heading back to the days when perfume was a luxury you couldn’t easily afford.
@@Persolaise I agree, it is not just perfumes. It’s all a bit irrational, I mentioned Montblanc fountain pens, I try to collect them, in 10 years they more than doubled in price. Same goes for most quality branded products. Alas, there are still brands out there though that seem to have some measure of sanity. La Manufacture (amazing range and no one talks about them, the Reve Ottoman is to die for), and Jovoy are niche brands with exceptional quality but yet affordable fragrances in the market (at least here in Australia).

I discovered a great incense perfume. It's from L'Objet, and it's called Coté Maquis. Very warm and balsamic take on incense, with lots of labdanum. Personally, I'm tired of the cold/super churchy ones.

You were talking a bit about affordable fragrances in this stream. It would be very helpful if you ever did a top ten list of affordable fragrances! As a student, niche just isn't in my current budget.

Love the jumper . It’s fabulous and really suits you. Youth dew is very nostalgic for me but doesn’t really suit me but love to smell on others . Dolce Devotion was last main stream fragrance I bought and totally love it and managed to get 50ml for £63 with free 10ml in the gift set and this a great price for a lovely fragrance . You were right when you said I would like it . 😀

they did put the original Van Cleef & Arpels pour homme back on the shelf in their shop in Paris, along with 2 other classics...I let a family member who was in Paris buy it is on its way to me ) I believe its 160 euro in the collection bottles....Glad they brought out back !

It really is amazing how, not too long ago, there were interesting perfumes being released for mainstream prices. Now we have to go niche for the same experience. I have been on a vintage and reconstruction journey of late. Chanel and some artisan/niche brands are the only modern ones I feel drawn to.
