Nice review as always niece Tish! Personally, I wouldn’t pay extra for the 20th Anniversary version over the normal Golf R. I’d just get the regular Golf R; I think it’s enough for me.
@@mikemayers9353 Performance in the 333hp version doesn’t have a big of a difference compared to the 320hp version, so I personally wouldn’t pay extra for the 333hp version over the 320hp version unless I had no choice.
Great review Tish. Beautiful car & I like the seats and carbon fibre. As you said a pity no fibre to replace the gloss black & soft materials on the lower door. As with Golf I wish they had separate illuminated buttons for climate control or at least backlit. £50K for a golf - beautiful but a bit of a steep price for a golf.
Loved the review Tish on the 8R 20 Years. Shared everything we need to know and looks like a great car to drive particularly in Wales in the rain with the 4WD. Great edit also 👍🙂
“At least it’s not a BMW…” ☠️ It’s an impressive toy, but as it’s far too expensive and minimalist for the price. I still have my heart in the GTI with plaid.
Well done Tish a brilliant review as ever! I agree that the golf 8 is improving with time I had one of the earliest made a 2020 Life which I part exchanged after 2 years of it being in the garage most of the time I had it I have always loved the Golf R and lapis blue and one day I hope I get the chance to own or drive one those seats are a big improvement over the standard I do like the white and lapiz blue and looks striking I am amazed for that much money the reverse camera is optional but agree that the Volkswagen camera is very good as it is always clear Keep up the hard work and looks like you enjoyed that video some great driving roads in Wales Daniel
Absolutely loved the review in the rain, also gorgeous looking Golf R in my favourite blue, please do more reviews in the rain, add that music, I feel at peace when it rains, like during this review, do a night review also sometime. In review, I am now considering if I should sell my Kia Stinger GT for this Golf R..?
So glad you done a video on the golf r again im a fan of the r models im on my second mk7 golf r dsg just to attached now since my previous golf r was 500bhp I had to buy another one and do it all over again Good fun cars for the country roads Lovely video tish x
Excellent review I love golf but the I prefer the old analogue dashboard and the gear lever as opposed to that Tiny button. I would not however pay £50k for a new vehicle I would buy an older model and upgrade it
You put a lot of thoughts into your review videos. You were even wearing the matching attires in BLUE. The opening is also beautifully shot. Did you use iPhone to shot your videos, as I can see the camera work is a bit shaking. A DJI Gimbal would improve the quality. It's cheap and handy.
Big money but worth it . One of the last cars of its type . Cheaply finished inside , visible painted metal is a big no no inside a 50 grand car , down the B pillars.
Golf R is on my car list but I think I’d rather get a late high spec MK7 and save the money. This version is a bit to techie for me and for that price there is a lot of other cars you can get. Some new car prices are just stupid now. Your reviews are a regular for me on you tube.
Loved my 7.5, the infotainment on our 8 was very glitchy and would freeze meaning I couldn’t change the radio station or the climate. The inside quality was noticeably cheaper and on a boiling hot day the air vents for cool air were too low for your face. Needless to say we haven’t got it anymore!!
Sorry Tish, I’m not feeling it for this car. I’m a long time VW enthusiast and owner but this is really just a cynical marketing job. Lapiz Blue has been around since 2014 as is far too common now. Performance Pack has been withdrawn on the standard model only to create a difference for this version, because there’s precious little other reason to buy it. The blue wheels look awful😮
Another cracking review Tish. I hope you didn't get too drenched. Pack a second brolly in the review kit. This is without doubt a a terrific car but not one for me. The price is just too much for me to justify.
Excellent review. I am new to your channel but you come at it from a different perspective. I appreciate the very natural (shit happens) approach. The camera drop blooper put a smile on my face. Great idea to include it. I live across the pond so believe we will get a mildly different iteration and good bit cheaper ($46 K for the manual) but I checked the UK pricing and, if I am not mistaken the RS3, in the UK is only a couple of grand more. (The price difference, in the US market between this and the RS3 is around $10K. Understood currency exchange between Stirling and USD, still a better deal in your neck of the woods). If I were in the UK, I would drop the extra couple of grand on the RS3. =)
Thank you so much for watching the channel Patrick and sharing your thoughts. Sometimes I think it is a shame that we do not get the manual but I don't actually think it would sell over here anyway.
@@AutoSocialUK My pleasure.I don't think that they will sell in big numbers here, either. I live in Miami and the traffic here is crap. No nice twisty roads for a manual. Looking forward to more content. As mentioned, I have been enjoying your breath of fresh air real delivery and user centric approach. We don't get a lot of the Euro brands you do, so I am always on the hunt for those reviews. Continued success and happy holidays. =)
Dude its 5k more cause you get dcc and performance mode (which youd get anyway cause thats the whole point of this car) as standard over the base model so its the same
I agree as to the color; I think its beautiful. Price tag - - VW is a bit "adventurous." I do hope it will be available in the USA at a "reasonable price," although I'm not sure what that is these days.
Great review and an absolutely great car in the price segment for the performance and for coming so well equipped. Take it from a current owner and someone who came from a Mk7 GTI, Mk5 GLI and A3.
Far too expensive for a VW. What was up with the badge on the steering wheel Tish? It just looks like a bloop. Was it in black? You should do a bloober reel tish. Hope your camera was OK after the fall. Its obviously still working anyway which is good. Great production values to your video do. Top Gear could do with some new presenters and you would be great on it Tish.
Very hard to be objective about the pricing point for this car, when many buyers will see it as a speculative purchase. They are likely to get their money back and more, so to them it is worth it. The premium competition like the new type R is just as pricey and the RS3 is nigh on impossible get.
Why no comments on the complete mess of the software? VW has admitted that there is a complete failure in sytems integration which will take 3 to 5 years to solve. Other than a complete pain trying to use the car system controls, this will result in significant depreciation in the next few years. Like buying a smart phone which cannot update its operating system and cannot download new apps. At the vw asking price you can buy a Tesla model 3 performance. With much better performance, significant savings in fuel and maintenance and much lower depreciation, bit of a no brainer to go with the Tesla Bit of pay back karma coming vw’s way? What?
I completely saw your point of view until the end, I really don't think the Golf R and Tesla Model 3 performance can be compared but I agree the software is a huge pain.
No Thanks Tish not a VW driver by choice as I find them over priced and best suited to Nerds who see them as the choice car for tearing up car-parks after dark.
This is a nice not arsey reply considering you could buy a nice 4-5 year old one mileage depending for almost half the price is it a worse car to the average driver like you or myself ? well no not really. And in the current climate £25k would go a very long way. I work for a FCA francise and along side my shite Punto I smoke too and from work in I've got a 595 a car I know you are very fond of and that could be bought for almost a 1/3 of the price brand new and in all honesty back to my statement earlier to the average driver it's far too quick for everyday use also. so I suppose it depends on what you want from your car and your circumstances regarding it, but at £50 you could buy a older R8 or a nice 911 (before anyone says Italian junk that break down in the comments section about mine) both of which are far superior to what is basically a golf . Hopefully this didn't come across as me being a arse and to those who were offended this is just my opinion. As £50k+ minus any options for a golf you must be mad and there's other cars out there that I feel could justify paying that price far better.
