Match 2: "Another Treasure Map? Sure, if you twist my arm." "In case you were curious, this is their decklist." 😂 The subtle humor on this channel is great.
probabily the only 5 secs of the video most the listeners are checking in any yt mtga influencers channels eheh. however, I think legend is the less toxic to listen, love him.
This is currently the highest winrate deck in BO1 Standard according to the stats on Untapped! Sample size of 300 games is still relatively small, but glad to see the deck perform for everyone.
@@krishawkins5068 The stats in higher ranks are behind a paywall, but they are better than the ones in Bronze - Platinum (56% vs 52.6%). The win rate has dropped down as more people are playing it now (used to be above 60%). The list can also be tweaked for the post-Leyline meta with more cards dedicated to the Aura matchup. mtga.untapped.gg/meta/archetypes/220/dimir-control?archetypeIds=220_229_366_510_561_607_751_4110
Nice to see Dimir Control viable again. So funny to see so many removal spells made necessary by the fast meta, would be interesting to see how this does if more control decks end up becoming popular
Incredibly consistent deck. Been running 2x Phyrexian Arena instead of 2x Disfigure b/c I’m not facing all that much aggro since red leylines was banned. My highlight was vs R/U aggro. Was at 3 life with both Arenas in play, excruciator in hand but no Jace (two in graveyard already). Cast the demon anyhow and there happened to be a Jace in the bottom six!
29:45 Correct me if I'm wrong but Treasure Map and incubate tokens transform directly so the tokens don't leave, just move zone, whereas a token of something which exiles and transforms would just exile and not come back or in the case of copy creatures like Mocking Bird, exile and come back as a base Mocking Bird since the card has one side only.
All the premium removal is one reason I love the black decks rn in the meta, besides the fact that I'm a lover of monoblack and that play style But yeah these demon decks are awesome Midrange / controlly playstyle decks and it's glorious
I hate the fact that MTG Arena makes you target the oponent when a card says "target oponent" and there is only 1.... Damn, program it properly so it'd done automatically when there is only 1, you just need to add like 2 lanes of code for a 'if'
With MotM they changed the rules for tokens, otherwise copying incubators would have been dumb. So glad they did, it now allows for some silly planeswalker flips in commander when copying the creatures
Seems like a great card out of the sideboard to diversify our winconditions, it's not always great vs aggro decks when you can't hit any removal from their deck.
I have a question to any who may know the answer. I have a poor mans version of this deck I'm building in paper but I'm using Invasion of Amonkhet. With the Invasion, it says when you flip it you cast it for zero, and the zombie guy enters the battlefield as a creature. So you're essentially CASTING (keyword here) the zombie guy as the Excruciator, so would it trigger the ability the same way as if you played the Excruciator for 6 mana?
Surprisingly, yes! Even though you're not casting it *as* the Excruciator, the card remembers the fact that it was cast even as it enters as a copy of something else. Relevant ruling example here would be on Feasting Troll King, which has a similar clause ("When Feasting Troll King enters, if you cast it from your hand, create three Food tokens.") Ruling: 10/4/2019 If you cast a creature spell that enters the battlefield as a copy of Feasting Troll King, such as Clone, the enters-the-battlefield ability will trigger.
I imported the deck list to MTG Arena and crafted all the cards but it tells me the deck is invalid for the format (and only allows me to play against Sparky). Is there something I’m doing wrong?
Open the deck in Arena and in the editor click to see more details (next to the deckbox). Now in the drop-down menu you can change the deck's format to Standard.
I love this deck, but every time I use it, the matchmaker pairs me against discard. It is not a bad matchup, but boring as hell after 3 games in sequence. I will try your build to see if this pattern changes since you use some different cards. Ty!
My version has a lot of card draw for answers to stall for the combo. I assume these decks without demonic counsel just need more answers for aggro but it should be way more viable now that it's slowed down a bit.
There's a real risk of drawing too many Demons and not enough interaction, which is one way to lose the game. With all the card selection and card draw four copies should suffice.
@@LegenVD Agreed. I'm also playing a version of this Dimir deck since DSK release and I started with 2 copies of Counsel and gradually took them. It's insane how much spot removal + sweepers one must run now for a control deck to be able to get to turn 7, because almost every creature starting with T1 is a must answer threat or else it will runaway with the game. I'm happy to report that just as in this video, my highest winrate with this deck is probably against mono red lol.
Those cards simply rotated out of Standard. There's a lot fewer Planeswalkers in Standard now, but Foundations might revitalize the archetype once again.
I might be cursed, but Im running the same deck and cant seem to win any games.. might be a skill issue, but I never get to play the combo Other decks are just too fast
Another ugly control deck u control players maybe don‘t realize it but I are the reason for most of the mono red players out of ranked cause the best ways to beat control are 1. mono green with cards in the main deck which should be in sideboard e.g. shifting ceratopsianor 2. mono red no hard deckbuilding no 4735675 rare wildcards and a good overall winrate
Match 2:
"Another Treasure Map? Sure, if you twist my arm."
"In case you were curious, this is their decklist."
😂 The subtle humor on this channel is great.
To make things even better, he always said in in the most deadpan way possible and without missing a beat😂
Yesterday had me dying, he said he was east for Shenanigans and puts the card on screen lol
"in case you were curious, this is their decklist" is just brutal lmao

Loooooool that comment made me crack up. Hahahaha
That match 2 against Mono Red was brutal, you're basically playing with your food.

Same lol
18:57 damn, today LVD woke up and chose violence xD

Dimir Demons also just won the World Championships, so yeah it seems pretty legit
Could you kindly link to the page on Untapped with the stats? Thank you!

@18:56 That was low-key savage.
EDIT: @30:08 One of the reasons I love LVD. I wouldn't know about these things otherwise.
I was telling everyone how the way it worked with brutal cathar tokens not flipping was dumb. Turns out WoTC agreed.

OMG This is my deck! Almost identical! I've been having great success since the release of this set! Can't wait to watch!
Ive been struggling so much with it and I want it to work. Clearly there are lines I’m not seeing!
I do run farsight to find answer instead of treasure map… (and a couple of collector vault to help with bargain)
This video provided apocalyptic amounts of value
Good Ole treasure map control. Love it. ❤️
Watched this and went straight in to brewing a doomsday edh deck XD Love you content btw lots of fun
I watch these videos almost every day and every time the deck is consistently competitive. Hopefully one day Ill be as good at making decks
That second match made my day

I love treasure map. Such a value piece for conrol decks!
Damn, couldn't imagine that oppponent on match 2 sticking to the bitter end
a masterclass, as usual

Correct
I love that in standard now, it's a triangle-power-struggle among Control, Aggro and Alternate-Win-Condition Decks
Doomsday Excruciator has been my favorite card in commander, playing it on T2 with K'rrik is very fun
All the premium removal is one reason I love the black decks rn in the meta, besides the fact that I'm a lover of monoblack and that play style
But yeah these demon decks are awesome Midrange / controlly playstyle decks and it's glorious
Evil Luca was definitely here xD
"rip leyline 2024-2024" made me laugh more than it should have

Doomsday mill seems like a 🔥 deck name.
With MotM they changed the rules for tokens, otherwise copying incubators would have been dumb. So glad they did, it now allows for some silly planeswalker flips in commander when copying the creatures
This card is nuts
any deck which gives the mouse deck hell is a winner in my opinion
Wooooohooo. It's Friday baby! 🙏🙏
Hey LVD! I'd be very curious to see your take on a Reenact the Crime deck in Standard. Is there any chance?
since leyline ban i've been seeing a lot more control/domain on the ladder... probably would need to change up the removal package to match
Robbery (BBX mana spell) is a very good card in this deck as well. Works as a wincon if demon comes down + is good for the control/stall gameplan
Seems like a great card out of the sideboard to diversify our winconditions, it's not always great vs aggro decks when you can't hit any removal from their deck.
that's one sick avatar

@@TecKirb Wow! Thank you! I'm definitely using this. If it works it will hopefully be faster than trying to get 6 black mana.
At the Worlds, it seems that the 'ultimate' Standard deck is Gruul Prowess...
Would love to take it on with this build, but won’t see it as much in best-of-one now that Leyline is banned there.
@@LegenVD you are right as to best of one, yep
Dominguez is 5-2 with a blue black control with 2 copies of Excruciator and Jace. Maybe he shoulda gone harder!
26:03 "like Elspeth, which some virgins play", I know LVD, I know...
Also could you make a shard deck with niko, light of hope?
Cast it with portent of calamity!
Waiting for Omniscience!
Where's our Doomsday Excruciator / Alter of Dementia combos!
In Historic 😊

Deck looks super fun, but i would need 20 rare wildcards or at least butcher the mana base.. is it worth it?
Yeah the manabase is crucial to casting the Excruciator, definitely makes this one too expensive for me
Played a few games. I got absolutely clowned by other dimir mid range decks. So much fun... ./sigh
Game 2 should have the NSFW tag
Could you do a Ulamog The Defiler op eldrazi tribal commander?

We have to get LegenVD up to mythic to be on par with CGB !
He's already better in real life. And it's not like being mythic does anything.. just means you have more time to waste on Arena.
"in case you were curious here's their decklist"
23:10 didn't they actually draw that card which they left on top?
Yikes 🤣
This deck is so slow and boring. Standard doesn't seem to care about my enjoyment
From the sound of it you may just dislike control decks, which are a part of every healthy metagame.
@LegenVD your probably right, I prefer things like just slamming big creatures
