Eluge with enough blink spells is really difficult deck to deal with. Free counterspells on opponent's turn... no longer are you safe even when the blue player taps out. Card advantage becomes even more powerful thanks to it. Eluge is honestly borderline broken for this.
Legend, I'm not playing Magic, in fact, I'm pretty new to it, started in LoTR and played a lot of WoE draft. But I love your videos, the standard ones specially. I love the passion you have about the game and how well you explain every deck. The bob ross videos are awesome for that reason, keep the good work! ❤
Hey Legend. Nice to see Mono Blue gets some love. I think this deck is highly underrated. Got me to Top 200. I added 2 copies of shore up for protection. Therefore you can play your fishy on turn 4 and still have protection up. Good list as always !
Cool combo with the shore up was also the with the crab. Drop it for almost free on their turn, tap two creatures of theirs, they attacked with last one as crab is tapped, shore up to untap and pump the crab to a 6/6. Took out 1 creature and tapped down 2 so I could not only live but attack for 6 and the kill next turn. Was sweet.
@@BobbyHop-fp4vg ah didnt see the question :) . I cut the negates and i run 6 bounce spells with just 2 eluge. Negate and ephara seems sometimes to expensive to save your creatures . Decks run alot of single target removal and shore up lets you easier protect counterspell against multiple removal spells
This deck and the recent "Lhurgoyfs and Beans" deck from MTG goldfish makes me want to make a Simic "Crab and Beans" deck, featuring Crab and Tolarian Terror
I've thought about it, but its hard to have creatures and sorceries/instants to power up both. Could be great for Glarb though, who can surveil, and gives him more to top deck

At 23:00 you could have use Three Steps Ahead at the end of they turn to copy your Crab, tap they two creatures, and swing for lethal :) Anyway, good video as always !!
Eluge is very strong in Brawl. Free spells everywhere. If aggro gets under you you're torched, but if you get established it's usually just a matter of time until you overwhelm them with free spells.
24:10 I think you missed lethal. 3 steps to copy eddy crab and tap down blockers to hit for 10 on their turn. If they animate the cottage you have dispersal to bounce.
hey legenVD, big fan of you since I saw your video that upgraded the merfolk-starter deck some years ago ^^ I always wondered how you manage to accumulate so many rare and mythic cards to build so many decks, any tips on how to grow my collection? Do you do it with drafting, buying wild cards directly or opening packs? Maybe some other way I don't think of? Would be interesting to know. In any case, thanks for your vids, help me a lot to improve at MtG, stay healthy and have a good day :D
I used to draft a lot to complete my collection. With a high win rate you can do so for free. Nowadays I pre-purchase the bundles to kickstart my collection with each set. Doing your daily quests and 4 wins goes a long way.
If you don't mind the ask: why run 24 lands? I'll admit, the 'standard' of 20 lands for MonoU is probably too light, especially with Eluge and Flow being a high cost, but 24 seems like a lot for the deck with how quickly you still can dig through your deck, and with the discount Eluge can give. Still, cool showcase of the deck! Always happy to see Mono Blue crawl back into standard, even if it's missing my beloved Terror.
It’s a nice option vs spot removal, although misses vs sweepers and edicts. Aggro decks will usually ignore it like you said, so I see it more as a sideboard card at the moment.
Hello, nice video, I would like to play a deck like this, but cavern of soul would tilt me too much in BO1 question : at 22:55, it seems like three steps ahead copying the crab is lethal. At least after seing their land.
@@LegenVD thanks. Appreciate the feedback. It’s funny that I rarely play it for multiple modes because it’s either early when it’s effective and I don’t have the mana developed yet, or I bin it in the late game. It’s always my first target to cut in sideboarding too when I usually bring in a more appropriate hard counter like negate or long river’s pull, or other matchup appropriate sideboard cards. In game 1 when games are going long, the thought of surveilling into a threat or increasing Djinn’s power seems stronger than a generic flier.
I love this deck I built almost the same deck last week but I keep loosing to those pesky red and red black aggro decks I encounter all the time on the lader !
Have you tried using the card Shore up it gives 1 of your creatures +1/+1 and hexproof that way your djinn or any other creatures won’t die right away.
This deck is very good, but it shines in the best of 3 as there is less agro and more mid range deck and control. what do you have in mind for the sidboard...
Negate, Shore Up, Seedshark could be an extra threat, Disdainful Stroke, Tidebinder for Atraxa through Cavern of Souls, could also try Demolition Field to bring in over Blast Zone for those Cavern of Souls matchups.
And still again with that same creature I keep seeing in over 16+ months: Haughty! without that card...NO ONE would play blue I guess LOLOL. Blue is dead on MTGA"
@@LegenVD Fair enough. Guess it depends on what you are running into then? Messed around with some demolition fields because I kept running into cavern of souls.
It’s mostly a constraint based on how much blue mana we need. With Eluge being the limiting factor in this deck and Flow of Knowledge a secondary reason to max out islands.
spent a handful of rares and mythics to make this deck then lost literally every single game i played in bronze. mentor reanimate, mono red, mono white, uw artifacts. didnt matter. good times!
If you’re not used to playing this style of deck one of the key things is learning which spells to counter. This basically requires you to know the ins and outs of every opposing deck. It will take time and the learning curve is steeper than most other decks but it can be very rewarding.
wth happened at 49:36 ??? AND WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT IT??? Not only was he one mana short to target the Questcaller, the spell is afterwards on the stack and his land is STILL UNTAPPED Also the sus editing cut WTH???????????????????????????????????
When opponents concede there are a lot of visual bugs, like mana being tapped incorrectly, damage being doubled or Gods turning into creatures. I was trying to target the Questcaller before realizing we were a mana short. Our opponent conceded while it was still being targeted but before we paid for our spell.
The small laugh you had when Flow of Knowledge drew you 4 islands xD

That player was mana flooded. Which is unfortunate. There were no threats coming from him. Everything was so slow and didn’t put up a fight at all

Love this concept, anyone in the comments know of any graveyard hate it would have to watch out for?

Thoughts on replacing phantom interference with Don’t Make a Sound?
Interference seems like the better of the two options, especially in a deck that can easily cast it with multiple modes.
