- I tried to capture in different weather condition and location. And Didn’t edit, color grade any of the photos for comparison.
I’m gonna change the thumbnail in one month, I totally forgot about it and can’t make one currently ma bad
This has got to be the best comparison video and was perfect for what i was looking for! Appreciate the effort put into this video as it helped me alot in my end decision. Subscribed.
Thanks man! So what are you going for?
I really liked the organic feel of 160 on skin. The 800 looked really nice on night time shots. The 400 was like a mix of both.
That's why they all exist, different use cases !
he went so far as to make a 3 camera tripod to make the comparison which is the most dedication i've seen. really helped me choose thank you
This guy took ‘side by side’ really serious, but i love the effort tho
The amount of work you put into this is so amazing, deserves more likes and recognition
This is probably the most underappreciated video on youtube great video G exquisite work
i love the effort you put into filming and editing this video! amazing job!
This is literally exactly what I want when people say they’re doing a comparison video. Thank you.
I don't even own an analog camera but I watch this because it is just pure quality content
THANK YOU!! I am a dummy and have watched so many videos explaining the theory of WHY the films are different but i just don’t understand math! I needed to see that comparison
너무도 당연히 외국 영상인 줄 알고 보다가 깜짝 놀랐네요. 편집스타일도 유니크하신데 편집실력 자체도 정말 뛰어나시네요. 정말 즐겁게 보고 갑니다
I have the feeling that each set of 3 shots was inverted in a different way. The software (like silverfast, but they all do it) change the color inversion based on what they think is the best for that frame. This makes the colour in the final resul very different from one shot to the other. This is why in some photos portra800 has a green cast, in some has a blue cast, and in some is perfectly balanced. I think it could be resolved scanning 3 frames at a time of the 3 different films and converting them in one time. Anyway I’m not an expert in colour film conversion
This is really helpful, BUT only if you're lucky enough to catch the card at 1:52 (A 1/2 SECOND SHOT!!!). where you note that you've arranged the film stocks left to right 160-400-800. Confusing because earlier in the video you have shots of the rig you constructed with the film stocks arranged in the opposite fashion left to right 800-400-160. So I just want to confirm that the films are arranged left to right 160-400-800 yes?
nuh uh its 800-400-160 from what i see on his set up
I think I like the desaturated look of the 160 and 400 most, and will probably go with the 400 for flexibility. Great comparison. Thanks.
Thank you! Very helpful. This video gave me a complete idea of how to use different types of film correctly, under what conditions, and for what purposes. It saved me a lot of money!
We really didnt deserve all this but we THANK YOU!! also now I cant decide which is the best they're all so great
bro, thank you ! literally the most helpful video
Thank you for making such a fantastic rig
You are the man for doing this. Why can't more videos be like yours? Thank you!
Wonderful comparison! Incredibly useful. really displays the strengths and weaknesses of the rolls in different conditions.
I personally only used the 160 so far. Absolutely loved it! 400 is next
Well I like the color of portra 160 the most, nice work man, I'm waiting for the Kodak Gold 200/Color plus 200 and ultramax
I think this may lead to some confusion, I thought you had them in order of the title head 160/400/800 but the grain on the pictures didn't match the density of each iso, but later on I noticed you had them mounted on the rack 800/400/160, that made more sense, cool video nontheless.
1:52 👀
amazing video, thanks
In the next video will be nice to see descriptions of each film under photo
Great effort put into this, especially with the setup!
Differences between the 3 film stocks would've been much easier to spot if the negative conversion would've been done using the same parameters.
The white balance seems off in many of the side-by-sides. Great job on the comparison nonetheless!
thanks for the feedback, something I have to take in for my next vid
Awesome work! I just shot on the 800 a couple of days ago. My first time! :)
Well done
I saw a lot of these video's, but this is one of the best. Really. Thanks for the effort man, much appreciated! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Such a cool video! Love the scenes an cuts
You are legend.
Amazing thank you for taking the time to create this. So helpful!
I vote for the 800 by far!
Best comparison video I've seen! Thank you for this
Love this
damn the 160 crushes
Thanks for putting this together
This deserves way more views. Best video I've seen so far
This is a great video
The scripting and editing is SO COOL! All those youtubers with their fancy studios and "cinematic" (read: youtubery) lighting could take a page out of your book. You didn’t even use a "good camera" and it’s still a really engaging video. And a really, really helpful comparison of the three. =) How did you scan the photos though?
wooow!! You nailed it!
Great video. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do this; it’s one of the best comparison videos I have seems. Also, I really dig the photography.
Amazing job qnd comparison!
Amazing video I loved every bit of it
Great comparison video!! Shows the clear difference between these film stocks
nice comparison. thank you!
Wtf this is amazing content. Make more, king.
Thanks for the comparision, much more objective than mostly all others full of talk and low on images! Well done!
dude, this is super confusing, you mounted the cameras in the rack like: 800/400/160, but you're presenting the photos onscreen 160/400/800, is that right?
GENIIIIIUSSSS
Well done! Super clever builds and test. Looks like they’re all about the same, I guess the speed is the benefit depending on needs and light
Great respect for the effort, good review
TYSM for this video! Helps out when comparing the films so much!
Portra 800 one love❤
amazing video
Awesome video 📹 👏
lovely, I am going to try my first portra 800 roll of film, this was really informative thanks !
Extremely confusing should have put text under each shot.
Fantastic comparison, thank you!!
Super) Ektar 100 vs porta 800?
All fantastic images ! What part of Korea was this in?
thank you for this!!! nice work.
Best side by side film comparison frr
so so sick and super helpful!
800 looks the best in night shots, 160 and 400 were varying in daytimes.
awesome video, awesome photographs
진짜 최고의 영상
Amazing comparison video, thanks!
useful compare,i think 400 is better
Love the effort, great video!
Great job man!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you, you're amazing.
Thank you.
Love the nails!!
This is awesome!
I’M CHECKING RIGHT NOW IF YOU EVER DID THIS WITH ANOTHER FILM STOCK… 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
such a fucking banger of a video
Do you can comparison Kodak color plus200 , Gold200, Protra160 ?
Nice video BUT: it is super difficult to really compare because you don’t really say which picture is which film (ok, for 1/500 of a second you had a frame somewhere 😜) and you don’t give enough time. Also some pics are not in focus. All the preparation was so great but then….
so what i got out of this is that in most instances it doesn't matter.
잘봤어요 참고가 됩니다요
I would be curious how exposure differs w/ same camera settings, as well as set cameras to same film speed, say exposure based on the camera using 400
Same lenses all 3 cameras? If so or not a test w/ all 3 cameras using same portra film/ ex all using portra 400, to determine real reason for color inconsistencies
Color inconsistencies are due to the conversion software, I don’t think it was uesd properly, or at least it’s not a reliable software. It is always complex to invert colour negatives
uow! great job!!!!
I knew this guy was serious when he pulled out the mitre saw
Where can i get that tripod mounted camera rig. That's boss.
Which is which? Nice video but I’m confused
Man, the difference in water color at 2:28 though.
Im new to film cams, how do you conver the film to digital image? is there a inexpensive and easy way??
Great video. Would you happen to have the recommendations in terms of shutter speed if one is to overexpose by 1 stop? I'm quite new in respect to film photography and watched/read about that it is best to overexpose Portra 400 since the highlights don't get clipped on this film. Thanks in advance.
cool!!!
nice vid
Nice video ! But it looks like you are changing sides on 160 and 800 so its difficult to keep track on who is what
what are you talking about?
great job
맛있어요
👏👏👏👌👌👍
I really like this shots. Did you push porta 160 or you shot at box speed?
thanks, I sticked to the box speed
Ты большой молодец. Но что же выбрать...
why go to all this effort but not even put an overlay on screen showing which films are which
감도는 각각의 필름대로 설정하고 찍으신건가요??
네! 필름에 맞게 설정하고 촬영했습니다ㅎㅎ
I actually prefer Porta 160 and Poeta 800 over Porta 400
仪式感啊,哥
