We live in the Era of the 12 second attention span thanks to social media , I'm so lucky to have grown up before it therefore I can still enjoy the slow burn/build-up, Can't wait for SE02.
I watched the first season 4 or 5 times and loved it. I am a really big Tolkien fan, so seeing things on screen that I never thought I would was incredible. Thought the teaser was awesome for season 2 and I'm really looking forward to August 29.
Love that you mention Morfydd Clark’s acting! I agree that she is a master at her craft. I’m so hyped! Totally love Charlie Vickers’ look as Annatar. Also Isildur potentially meeting Shelob… I just can’t stop trying to piece together these shots and speculate what the plot could be.
Really enjoyed season one, I'm a huge fan of the Silmarillion and it was so great to see glimpses of the history of Middle Earth. Valinor, Numenor, Khazad Dum in it's prime. I can't wait to see where the show takes us next.
I really really enjoyed season 1. I feel like I'm constantly reminded that a lot of people really didn't like it. Whenever that happens I take a minute to really think back to season 1, just to double check if they could be right, that maybe the show is bad, but every single time I remember it fondly and my opinion remains unchanged. I think most of my favorite parts are basically anything that involved Arondir. Loved the storyline he was involved in. Season 2 is looking promising and has me very excited!
There are a bunch of shows and films that in the online world of furious, spluttering, pop-eyed male nerds are considered 'trash', and a single kind word about them is enough to see you railed on by a horde of basement-dwlling dimwits. Then you talk to normal people about them, read reviews by critics, and actually, y' know. _watch them_ and it turns out they're good or even great. If you see the word 'woke' appear in a comment about the film/show in question, or read the phrase 'shoved down our throats', then in 99% of instances you can dismiss that opinion straight away.

I enjoy your attitude, Brother! I'm excited for this! I don't think, though, that the "Stranger" is Gandalf, I hope he is one of the two Blue Wizards. These creators are not totally bound by canon, but Gandalf did not arrive in Middle-earth in his old man form until way WAY into the Third Age. The Blue Wizards, however, are said several times, to have arrived far earlier. Like any real history, the Legendarium provides various "version" of events. But the official summary for this season mentions "Wizards," plural, so I hope it's the Blue Ones!!! Or the Blue Two, that is!!! - BPG
Mt. Doom erupting was exciting for you? It wasn't earned though, not to mention Galadriel taking a pyroclastic flow to the face and surviving along with every other main character. This show has very little stakes.
I love your reactions mate, but I detested Season One. I still can't believe the Tolkien Estate sold out to Amazon's money, but there you go. Also, when a lot of viewers pointed out all the things that were not Tolkien lore or were a bastardisation of that lore they were reviled for their views. Yes, there were some extreme views that went too far, but I firmly believe if 2003 Peter Jackson were to have watched this, he would have exclaimed "go back to the shadow!" There is one reason and one reason only this has been made and that is for subscriptions. I can appreciate the hard work that has gone into making this, but the acting and visuals come nowhere near as good as the films, nor the dialogue, which can be cringeworthy at times, but at least everyone has a job, so good luck to them.
Who cares what “2003 Peter Jackson” would say? He made plenty of lore revisions (Gandalf getting knocked down by the Witch King, elves at Helms Deep)), allowed awful dialogue (“Looks like meats back on the menu, boys!”), cringeworthy action sequences (Legolas shield surfing) and later made the terrible Hobbit films. Tolkien would’ve hated all that and would’ve definitely said “go back to the shadow!”
@@martellian not coping, my dear, simply tired of those who hate it constantly needing to scream about it. We know it’s not perfect, that many things were botched, and that there are plenty of flaws. I’ve been reading the books for 20 years, I know. It doesn’t change the fact that the complainers still get old and often offer no new insight, just the same complaints.
