  • Do pro guitar players need to read music in 2023? It's an interesting topic and one that a lot of guitar players, especially those who are hoping to play guitar professionally, want the answer to.

    Strangely enough I found that teaching complete beginners how to read the rhythmic notation alongside the tab to be really useful for them after just a few weeks.
    It's easily explained in 10 mins and because the pieces they are learning are so rhythmically simple it can be very effective - often better than their ability to reproduce a rhythm by ear.
    But yeah, reading notes from the stave for guitar - fudge that!😂

      Completely true, I think from a foundational level it can be effective and easily applicable but I think once you get to a certain point, or when the complexity increases and nuances become more prevalent, it can quickly become unintuitive for a lot of guitarists.
      I share the ‘fudge that’ sentiment 😂.
