Thanks for watching this little tour of my tiny recording setup! Any questions, the leave a comment below and i'll get back to you! Also, if you'd like a more in-depth video on any of the aspects covered then let me know! 🙏🏻🎸🎵
Looks comfy mate, I always dream of having my own large scale studio with a console and whatnot but there is also something I really enjoy about a small space built around efficiency and compactness. As for the D20, I played through one a year or so ago and didn't enjoy it myself. I don't have a lot of time for guitar at the moment anyway lol. Nice vid
So true man, it’s always satisfying when you make a small space work for you 👌🏻. A big space would be nice and would have advantages but I think a lot of people assume you need a big space to create good music and that’s definitely not true! 😊
Thanks for watching Karl! 🙏🏻😊 ah cool, thanks for the suggestion, I’ll have a look into that! I’m by no means an expert on that but I’m sure I could give some pointers
Very well explained studio video. I recently went from PC to A Mac mini, problem is it’s only 128gig. I do have an external ssd by Toshiba, but I don’t know how to save all my Logic songs to it. Because of this I really have begun recording and only play around with all the Logic instruments. Thank you.
Thanks for watching man! The Mac Mini is a great choice, I’ve really enjoyed mine so far! When you save your projects, you should be able to choose your hard drive as the save location, it should then allow you to also save the audio files in the same place. Might free up some space on your Mac! 👍🏻
My bedroom is crammed with video games and music gear... i have like 60 pedals, 2 amp heads, 2 cabinets, and a 7½ foot tall server rack full of gear (synths on rack stands, effects processors, a modular synth setup, my new Sweetwater PC...).... with my new PC I should have almost anything I could ever need to record, and once I get my Boss IR-2, I can start recording silently!
That’s a mighty setup man! Sounds like you’ve got most bases covered 👌🏻 love it! I’ve heard great things about the IR-2, will be versatile for home and live use, so awesome value 👍🏻
Thank you buddy, really appreciate the kind words! I use a Sony A7iii mirrorless camera with a variety of lenses depending on the shot. And for the audio i'm using a DJI Mic (it's their wireless lav mic)
A very nice set up. Chris. I was wondering about the physical monitoring you use but totally see the logic of holding back on that until you have a more permanent space. So, when gigging, do you pair the D20 with a cab (and if so which one do you prefer) or do you just send an XLR to the PA?
Yeah monitoring, especially accurate monitoring is the biggest pitfall of small spaces if not acoustically treated. Headphones eliminate that problem for me for the most part and I really only use monitor speakers casually - that’s why they’re not super expensive, it just wouldn’t be worth it! It varies, I could run it through a cab and run it as a traditional valve head, however, the gigs I’ve done recently have just been using the d20 through the PA using a DI box - sounded fabulous! Thankfully we had on-stage monitors so I could hear myself, definitely important for that kind of setup but it all depends on the size of the room! I saw Jerry Douglas last year playing with Transatlantic Sessions in a theatre and he was running a Revv D20 straight into the PA - sounded wicked 👌🏻🎵

ah thanks so much David, really appreciate it mate! There aren’t many of us so it’s always great to meet a fellow welsh guitarist 🏴 👌🏻😊
Great set up Chris.
It would be really interesting to see how you program drums for the music you make 👍
