Use this scale instead of the minor pentatonic. Most people start by learning the Minor Pentatonic scale but it does have its limitations and I find this minor scale alternative to be far more melodic and musical.

If the music is slow and easy like your intro then you can anchor to arpeggios and add tension with notes from various pentatonic or 7 note scales.
