Turns out the game developers absolutely did anticipate how many ads people are willing to watch for an advantage... the anticipated all the way to the bank.
I forgot some people still see ads lol.

How to make money easily:
1) Create a game where you do something to gain a virtual currency and use that currency to upgrade the something to get more currency.
2) Put bonus currency behind ads.
3) Offer non-stop ads.
4) Dangle game in front of Matt.
5) Profit.
Don’t forget the part where you make the game painfully unplayable unless you watch adds regularly
And randomly put in ads for dog owners at crucial upgrade times so Matt's torn between watching yet another ad or leveling up something probably better spent now rather than waiting for 10 minutes. And dangle a mystery power up / upgrade unlock near the end... but make it unachievable so Matt keeps playing thinking something's gone wrong.
(Name it "Boosh" and Matt will keep playing to find out what Boosh does, then dangle yet another mystery unlock called "strongest shape" at lvl 69 to unlock)

A 5 second advert in the game is great. Ironically I was then served a 40 minute advert for Pokerstars, showing a bunch of people just playing poker and trying to make it exciting.
Enable advertisement cookies, then click the ads for insurances and banks. These are the shortest and least annoying^^
And of course the ad tracking will throw more of that your way, like you need a loan from every bank out there...

Someone really needs to make a idle bridge building/engineering game for Matt.... have him in game with the puppy 🐶 ... upgrading trusses, material upgrades, bridge strengths, car, vehicle, people upgrades etc.
I appreciate these games. Thank you for going thru these just so we all can see the upgrades. Doing what must be done, (watching ads) to get to that max level!

At the very end, he got to level 30-2 and it never unlocked. The game tricked us, and him :(

Spiff usually has standards though. Like not making a half hour video about some especially pathetic idle game. I also suspect he would exploit in a manner that doesn't kill beavers needlessly (he'd probably just make like 30 breeding pods and pause them so that he can just "skip" droughts by making new beavers or something near the end)

This isn't even a game. It's an idle game like cookie clicker, except the planets scale up to make you watch more ads, so you never even get the satisfaction of feeling like you've accomplished something

Please don't watch ads when you play these sorts of games, it reveals that the game is unplayable (as when you make videos of these games it inspires people to play them) which then makes the video unenjoyable to watch.

I remember the flash game era, where this kind of content was created by some dudes in their free time and not a company trying to make money off the players watching ads. Well, maybe it's a dude in a basement and not an actual full-blown company :D
It was very annoying that they don't let you turn off the "information" box whenever you try to shoot the rockets. They just get in the way of quickly pressing them as son as the cooldown is up.

The upgrade scheme on this is incredibly poorly thought out. It seems like there's no reason to buy anything other than power for a long, long time. Each power upgrade is ~10%, and the upgrade appears to be multiplicative rather than additive, so it's consistently worthwhile until it costs at least 10 times more than the other upgrades.

Please do not conflate this youtuber with engineering. He designed North American roads at best. And anyone outside that continent knows that is basically the land of architects when it comes to "civil" engineering.
