  • Axle to Axle 33" Brace Height 7 1/8" IBO 334 fps, Draw Length 26-31.5". I test the Fortis 33 over a chronograph. I then shoot the Fortis at 18m to evaluate how it shoots and compares to other compound bows.
I discuss how the Fortis has changed from previous models.

I'm Dave from SC USA. IVE had multiple back and shoulder surgeries. I am 54 and have to shoot low poundage 48#. But I've harvested 5 deer this far this season no problem. Anyway, just wanted to say I love your honesty, your not pretentious in the lest. Sorry to hear about your heart attack. God bless you my brother.

I viewed this on Christmas Eve here in the USA. I'm thankful to see your recovery from the heart attack, and appreciate your posts on your recovery and the progression you took to get back into competitive shooting. Happy Holidays Steve!

I see the frustration; BUT, the silver lining I’m taking from Steven: Be honest and upfront (for those who don’t read their warranty card) that strings are consumables.
The greatest lesson I have from this channel, outside of archery, is I learn that I can reject (dumb) people as customers if they insist on wrong expectation from me. “We are not a good fit”
There is deep wisdom to accepting that I can’t solve everyone’s problem especially if they refuse to consider reality

I absolutely love mine, (s2 cams, as I'm a little short on DL) I'm shooting personal bests again. And I believe, for a do both (Target and hunting) bow, it's better than what they're coming out with this year.
I'm sad to see cam choice ditched.
The fixed rollerguard is more inherent torque in the system and less efficient. (Advertised slower, and they had to make the cables longer)
All in all, I do not feel the need to switch at all.

I've owned many different bow and IMO there isn't a bow better than the fortis line with the EC2, I have a fortis 30, its smooth and very fast

Thanks for everything you do for our education! I notice you often tout the benefits of rotating mods - all true enough. I don’t think I’ve heard you mention the benefits of mods that you swap out for different draw lengths, though. As you have said a number of times, they are a terrible pain for bow shops to stock - financially impossible for most shops - and also a way for the companies to just get more money from people who have to buy separate mods - especially if they want to try more than one draw length; changeable mods do make for a more speed for short draw archers because you don’t have the weight of that whole rotating mod design for people with a much longer length slowing down the cam. This can make a big difference to short-draw hunters who really need every bit of speed they can get. Then the whole draw curve can be more efficiently designed for each archer as well, rather than every draw length, having to share the same draw curve up until the individual points of let off. So changeable mods do stink in a lot of ways, but there is a benefit, too.

The mathews system (which I assume you're referring too) is great until you want to change ANYTHING
Want to experiment with a different let off?
      $100
Change your release and need to shorten your draw length?
      $100
      Want to drop/raise your poundage?
      $100
      Want to sell/trade your bow?
Best hope you can find someone that has your drae length, otherwise you're dropping your price to account for the fact a potential buyer will need to (hopefully) source a new set of mods
All to ensure you keep 3-10 FPS
If speed is important to you, rotate your modules and drop your point weight ($15 Max for a new pack of points) and off you go
I'm saying this as a mathews shooter for the last 15 years

Yeah, as I said the cost is a problem for both shops and buyers. I do think Mathews is the only major manufacturer still doing this, but I was actually referring to my old 2013 Darton 3800 with swappable mods in comparison to, say, my PSE Levitate. Both have 6 inch brace and once you account for cam size, about the same string angles, but regardless of which PSE cam on it, the Darton has a much easier draw per pound of draw weight for the same FPS, because of the swappable mods. Yes, you can lower your arrow weight to gain FPS, but so what? I’m just saying there is a trade off between cost and efficiency. You may feel the extra cost isn’t worth the efficiency. Fair enough - I totally agree with you in 9/10 cases. I’m only saying there is a trade off between cost and efficiency and for some for whom cost is not an issue - maybe those with tiny arms and deep pockets - swappable mods is an option that is not without a benefit.

How does this compare to the Sanlida dragon x10?

    • @theweekendarcher2056
      @theweekendarcher2056 7 місяців тому +1

The Sanlida is more like the Hoyt VTM in feel. Twitchy, harder to shoot.
