@UnaPinata that works, too. I just kept sending Oatchi to attack the legs while I throw rock Pikmin to attack, which can't latch onto the boss I'm only now realizing. 😅
I solo'd the boss as Oatchi, found that out by accident, then decided to waste no time rushing the boss until it got back up again, calling off my Pikmin. Repeat from Oatchi soloing.
hmm its weird seeing all the people with arachnophobia getting creeped out by this and other arachnode enemies from this series, but as someone that has arachnophobia, i've never really thought of them as spiders, as they only have 4 legs, they dont really look like spiders to me. But i guess people think differently sometimes.
This was the first boss in the game I genuinely struggled against. At this point in the game i was starting to worry “ah gee, this game has been kinda easy” and then this guy showed up with all my pikmin 3 trauma from the spiders.
That transition from the yellow phase to the blue phase goes so hard, it’s like “alright fuck you then I’m just gonna keep stomping if you don’t wanna fight me”
The first time I fought Groovy, I was doing alright until I misjudged his movement and one foot crushes me, Oatchi, and all but 17 pikmin. Still a fun time!
My god, so many pikmin deaths. The best way to kill this groovy boi is just ride oatchi and never throw more than ten pikmin at him at any given moment. Best choice for attack is reds, or purples if ya have em.
Actually, I managed it mostly with Reds. If you stay right underneath it for most of the battle, gas notwithstanding, it has a really tough time getting you. You just whistle right as it's about to shake them off.
within the context of the game? definitely. this thing is massive and very intimidating. but if i were to come across all of the arachnodes in real life i’d definitely be more threatened by The Spider With A Gun Inside Of It than i would be by disco inferno
I feel like this is the kind of boss that has a super-satisfying PERFECT 'flow' to it's battle if you keep up just enough aggression to trigger the 3rd form multiple times, the music, the rhythm of the twitching to telegraph the groove spray, everything is GREAT but it's only fully fulfilling if you can appreciate the atmosphere
I always hated the bosses that stomp. They kill pikmin so easily. I lost nearly all my winged pikmin against this idiot. He left me WITH 3 WINGED PIKMIN
I'm actually kinda scared of it too and I'm 28. It's something about the robot ball part mixed with exposed bones and flesh. It's like a zombie mixed with a robot. Just acting on pure instinct, no actual thoughts. Also that horn and music when it's mad doesn't help.
The wierd thing is, i didnt have any struggle with him! It be because i had a lot of reds, or i fought him earlier than you did, but, i beat him in only one phase switch, i didnt even know he had a red phase! Frogpants
Stand directly under it, spray spicy spray, throw a ton of pikmin, wait a couple seconds then call them and run away while it sprays the dance juice. Go right under it again and throw a ton on it. Took me like 2 minutes to defeat it. Very few deaths. Make sure to stand on Oatchy so you are all together. Right under the ball.
Difficulty on this boss for a lot of people they might struggle, but....in actuality this boss is not that difficult i would give it a 3/10, the rush ability with oatchie not only does damage but it also disengages all your pikmin immediately and they just wail on the spider, when it lifts its bulb up again, whistle to being them back so they wont get caught in the confuse spray, definitely one of the most memorable bossses but its not the most difficult, i still think the Man at Legs is more difficult than this one and the spider thing in pikmin 1...forgot its name
Tbh the new addition of the dog just makes this boss more easy, you should be worried about it stomping your pikmin but instead there just on the dog making it one entity, it even gives them like 2 chances of life which it kinda op if you know what your doing Indeed the boss dose get harder if you have no dog as seen in the video
I feel like you'd lose less Pikmin if you zoomed the camera out. It's hard to see where the GLL's feet are landing when you're basically in third person view.

Nah it’s probably gonna be nerfed like the emperor bulbax from Pikmin 1 to Pikmin 2
I like how right after the boss initiation theme starts, it is immediately cut off by the groovy theme
To be fair all the major bosses seem to have their own theme.
It’s called the groovy long legs for a reason
The boss stomps within rhythm of the music that is playing, the beat only slowing when it stops doing so. If it gets stunned or frozen, the music will pause entirely. This implies that the music is *directly coming from Groovy Long Legs.*
It does drop a speaker after defeat, after all...
Wait so maybe a normal long legs (probably beady) ate or somehow combined with the speaker and became groovy long legs?
It actually is coming from it. There isn’t even music playing, it’s a bunch of sounds the creature is emitting that sounds like a song.

It doesn’t actually work like that, it’s just that there’s a chance that Groovy will trip after doing a two-leg stomp in any one of his color modes
I solo'd the boss as Oatchi, found that out by accident, then decided to waste no time rushing the boss until it got back up again, calling off my Pikmin. Repeat from Oatchi soloing.

Groovy
