Now yes Purple pikmin and red potions can make this fight much faster but let's assume for a moment you don't want to waste what few purple pikmin you do have in this death trap of a dungeon. And I'm not using red potions for any major bosses, if it's a miniboss you'll see dozens of like Peckish Aristocrab then sure but Foolix, Water Wraith, and Groovy have all been major fights and I don't wanna just show cheese.
That gives us two ways to fight this boss. Quick and reckless or slow and safe. Winged Pikmin will relatively safe from his crushing attacks, and if you had rocks those would probably break this fight. But winged pikmin have a .75 damage multiplier meaning they're weaker than any other pikmin type in combat and you only have 10 of them max.
This boss has 3 forms it shifts between and two separate phases.
In Phase 1 he'll have his slow and steady mode where it kinda seems like he targets you. Just be careful and throw some pikmin in when you can. Getting on Oatchi allows you to have a smaller target area but also is a bigger risk if he hits the pikmin, in fact this fight took me 3 attempts, attempt 1 he killed me outright, attempt 2 he killed all my winged pikmin in a single shot causing a pikmin extinction (sort of it'll have one if all of one type get wiped out) then there's this fight where Oatchi ran out of health.
Anyways after taking damage he'll either try to throw you off like Beaty Longlegs or blast some rave gas. Anyone afflicted by the rave gas will start dancing under the disco and you can't whistle them out.
Phase 2 is where the real danger begins, because he can engage yellow mode on his own. He can also let out some groove gas multiple times and then enter his red Rave mode which may as well be a blender for how deadly it is, if you have only one or two pikmin afflicted by the gas you should be ok but if it's over 5 at least one of them is going to die. It also has a new attack where it rears up and slams down 2 legs at once. This is very dangerous because not only can it crush a lot of pikmin but sends out a massive shockwave that will send everyone flying and more than likely multiple pikmin will get sent off the edge, seriously they go flying across half the arena.
But I still think this fight is awesome, it's got the dynamic boss music, a cool design, and brings some significant challenge and even with red potions this boss won't be bursted down in 10 seconds since you can't really charge pikmin onto him unless he stops to rest and that's often bait for rave gas.
So yeah fun boss and now we've found all the the missing students the professor mentioned, the professor is in Engulfed Castle, 2 students are in the dungeon with the big wollywog (one was swallowed by a greater spotted jellyfloat while the other is in the boss room) and now we've found the third and final student she mentioned.
I love how they took the rhythmic stomping of the Arachnorbs and went "Let's use this as the boss music!"
I was a huge fan of them ever since I was a child, something about their rhythmic stomping just being incredibly satisfying, this boss feels like a fan service for me specifically
yep.
the item he drops heavily implies this music was *actually* playing in-universe and he is the source of it
he makes his own battle music, this is real lore, listen to me i-
@@fuzzydude64YOU KNOW TOO MUCH 🔫
After so many glancing hits from the stomps I assumed Oatchi was immune. Seeing him get hammered like a nail was startling.
i lost literally all my pikmin to one of its stomps when i fought it
It is a lil funny though
watching oatchi get hammered like a nail was satisfying LMAO
During Panic there was one red dodging the stomps while bouncing.
What a legend.
Steve lives!!!
Steve mastered ultra instinct
I like how right after the boss initiation theme starts, it is immediately cut off by the groovy theme
To be fair all the major bosses seem to have their own theme.
It’s called the groovy long legs for a reason
fun fact: the "disco lights" are actually eyes
every single one of them is an eye
Bro got that 420k 120fps vision🥶🥶
Grant us eyes grant us eyes I suppose
......... I legit thought it was his balls
I am both fascinated and disturbed by this thing, fascinated because... look at it! But disturbed by how the hell is this even considered Pikmin's equivalent of an spider?? Or Arachnorb? ...But part of me is telling me not question it and just go with it because it's Pikmin... ._.'
@@urbanharmon3471oh its a man at legs situation apparently where it is infected with a mechanical parasite oh look even some of its skin is gone exposing bone
This was the first boss in the game I genuinely struggled against. At this point in the game i was starting to worry “ah gee, this game has been kinda easy” and then this guy showed up with all my pikmin 3 trauma from the spiders.
how do you get trauma from pikmin 3
@@monkey5889 Probably the Plasm Wraith. I honestly found it kinda cute as a teen
@monkey5889 I sucked at the game and a bunch of my pikmin died to the shaggy long legs
Wait until you find out about spiders in pikmin 2...
@@raviolinoob4435 Ohhhhh yeah I was too afraid to even approach that bugger
In Pikmin 5 this will be a miniboss and there will be 2 in one room
that'll be a nightmare 20 years from now
Scared but vibing
Just imagine the vibes tho
🪩
Nah it’s probably gonna be nerfed like the emperor bulbax from Pikmin 1 to Pikmin 2
There’s nothing cooler than bosses that come with their own music
I assume you mean that it is cannon that the boss itself is making the musicmon it's own
@@Streetcleanergamingi mean, its vibing with it do it must be diegetic music
I love how its stomps are in sync with the song and are basically the beats
Actually there isn't even a boss theme in this fight the music comes from the sound generated by longlegs himself
Groovy
Don’t you just love diegetic music?
At least he’s being generous enough to give us a banger soundtrack!
You can make the boss trip by sending Oatchi to attack the Groovy Long Legs' feet, which plays some funny music after the boss trips.
oh! i wondered how to do that. I've tripped it on accident before but was not sure how to repeat the scenario. I know that apparently if you weigh it down with enough pikmin when it rears it will crash onto the ground instead?
@UnaPinata that works, too. I just kept sending Oatchi to attack the legs while I throw rock Pikmin to attack, which can't latch onto the boss I'm only now realizing. 😅
It doesn’t actually work like that, it’s just that there’s a chance that Groovy will trip after doing a two-leg stomp in any one of his color modes
I solo'd the boss as Oatchi, found that out by accident, then decided to waste no time rushing the boss until it got back up again, calling off my Pikmin. Repeat from Oatchi soloing.
The boss stomps within rhythm of the music that is playing, the beat only slowing when it stops doing so. If it gets stunned or frozen, the music will pause entirely. This implies that the music is *directly coming from Groovy Long Legs.*
It does drop a speaker after defeat, after all...
Wait so maybe a normal long legs (probably beady) ate or somehow combined with the speaker and became groovy long legs?
It actually is coming from it. There isn’t even music playing, it’s a bunch of sounds the creature is emitting that sounds like a song.
at 7:33 the groovy long legs got so dangerously close to crushing that hypnotized winged pikmin that it snapped tf out of it
As soon as you lost Oatchi, I knew how this was going to go
Don’t lie. You searched for this just to listen to the banger music but you were too lazy to load up your switch to do it yourself.
no im actually js stuck
No, I searched this up to listen to the music and I dont have a switch
@@Walking_Spinelpoor ahh
I don't have pikmin 4, but I do have the demo of pikmin 4, and I wanted to see this long legged mf in game
I realized the strategy is calling your pikmin toward you as it readies to spray. I love how funky it is, stepping to the rhythm
it is creating the rhythm after all!
i just threw pikmin at it until it stood still which was my cue that it was going to do its glitter attack so then you just call your pikmin back
hmm its weird seeing all the people with arachnophobia getting creeped out by this and other arachnode enemies from this series, but as someone that has arachnophobia, i've never really thought of them as spiders, as they only have 4 legs, they dont really look like spiders to me. But i guess people think differently sometimes.
Fun fact glow pikmins are immune to confusion/dance
As far as Iknow glow pikmin are essentially bulbmin from pikmin 2 just with the wisp ball attack
The first time I fought Groovy, I was doing alright until I misjudged his movement and one foot crushes me, Oatchi, and all but 17 pikmin. Still a fun time!
Dandori issue
Seeing him getting stomped so perfectly hurt to watch
Is it just me or does the groovy long legs seem like it's much bigger of a threat than all of the long legs that have came before
He's can force your pikmin to dance and can stomp really fast. He's like a raging long legs that forces your pikmin to walk under him
It also seems like the leg stomps are a lot less random, and actually aim for your squad.
within the context of the game? definitely. this thing is massive and very intimidating. but if i were to come across all of the arachnodes in real life i’d definitely be more threatened by The Spider With A Gun Inside Of It than i would be by disco inferno
Having Oatchi made him pretty trivial for me.
What about Man-At-Legs?
FunFact: the strings on the boss is it’s tendons good luck sleeping now
The fact that the music makes the boss fight better (in my opinion)
By far my favorite pikmin boss
"dude its just a disco ball with legs, dont go to hard with its music"
the music:
I swear, it almost feels like groovy long legs is purposefully trying to step on you
You threw off his groove of course he wants you squished.
He's just tryna vibe
That transition from the yellow phase to the blue phase goes so hard, it’s like “alright fuck you then I’m just gonna keep stomping if you don’t wanna fight me”
I have the worst arachnophobia so i hated this boss but... why is he so groovy
He's with the shits
My god, so many pikmin deaths. The best way to kill this groovy boi is just ride oatchi and never throw more than ten pikmin at him at any given moment. Best choice for attack is reds, or purples if ya have em.
Actually, I managed it mostly with Reds. If you stay right underneath it for most of the battle, gas notwithstanding, it has a really tough time getting you. You just whistle right as it's about to shake them off.
Another option is to mob them with like a bunch of flying pikmin
The best way to kill the boss is to play decently. A skill I did not have during this fight
@@TitaRussellTrailsmakes for a better video showcasing the boss i like
Mainly because it’s a longer video😅
Well as far as videos go I don’t think anything will top my Octopath traveler 2 video because it ended up being just under the time limit
This was a fun fight. And a challenging one, at that. (I’m a no-death runner, so that is most of the challenge)
Same here! Took me forever to learn the patterns enough to not let any pikmin die.
If you used a spray you could kill him before red phase if you trip him then use oatchi to charge all your Pikmin towards him
Honestly dude, I wish they added more phases to this guy, he could’ve had like five insane themes
Jeez! This thing put you through the wringer. It brought the beat, and a mean beat down!
It doesn’t matter if puffstool is nostalgic this thing is obviously the better enemy that hypnotizes your pikmin
I just realized that it’s colors represent the 3 main pikmin types
I lost about 60 pikmin fighting this boss because i ddidnt know he could make pikmin dance
2:49 the second he started moving at a lower frame rate like he’s in the spider-verse you were screwed
This guy was easy for me, mostly because I'd already seen the scariest thing in Serene Shores before it. The Waterwraith.
water wraith is easy. Just spooky when he chases you
4:20 STEVE DONT DIE
He didn’t die :D
Bro’s legs got reach, putting the long in long legs fr
I love this dude, number 1 anrachnorb for sure
I feel like this is the kind of boss that has a super-satisfying PERFECT 'flow' to it's battle if you keep up just enough aggression to trigger the 3rd form multiple times, the music, the rhythm of the twitching to telegraph the groove spray, everything is GREAT but it's only fully fulfilling if you can appreciate the atmosphere
im not even the one playing the game and yet i felt SO much fear when those legs came just a LITTLE too close to stomping u
The music actually says ‘man-at-disco’
Dance dance dance! Or get crushed by the beat!
The moment you lost Oatchi ik it was over for your pikmin
Seeing the poor dog getting curdstomped into oblivion 💀
This is the best thing I’ve seen in my life
I always hated the bosses that stomp. They kill pikmin so easily. I lost nearly all my winged pikmin against this idiot. He left me WITH 3 WINGED PIKMIN
Somehow I've managed to beat this guy on my first run with no casualties at all. I don't even know how.
I found it best to wait around until he was at a stand still
Or it was at a stand still
Personally, I like to stay under the Groovy boi and just bombard it from there
Why is this boss actually a vibe
its goofy if you have oatchi bite his feet and he just falls over like Dafuq?!?
best longleg boss fight
Anything afflicted by the rave gas goes back after red rave.
Dandori needs work…
The wierd thing is, i didnt have any struggle with him! It be because i had a lot of reds, or i fought him earlier than you did, but, i beat him in only one phase switch, i didnt even know he had a red phase! Frogpants
nice job
Bro do be groovin
The red face is kind of crazy
to be completely honest, this was one of the scariest pikmin bosses in my opinion
In this boss i kinda just threw all My Pikmin at him and smh won before he could Even restart and go back to blue phase
This man is crazy
its kinda intertaining that this boss fight didnt go perfect
My beloved.
i know literally nothing about pikmin this is horrifying to me
I never saw the red phase so thank you for this!
DANCE PARTY!!!✨✨
7:57 He’s Gonna Blow
Everybody is asking how mojang got the panda death noise while im wondering on where in the hell the oatchi knocked out voice came from
low key horrifying
if youre not careful groovy literally goes from the easiest to the hardest boss in the game
If you can get enough damage consistently, the guy falls over
I enjoyed this boss, I lost one pikmin my first attempt and loved the music
Dj music man in Pikmin 4!?
Favorite boss
Tbh the new addition of the dog just makes this boss more easy, you should be worried about it stomping your pikmin but instead there just on the dog making it one entity, it even gives them like 2 chances of life which it kinda op if you know what your doing
Indeed the boss dose get harder if you have no dog as seen in the video
nightmare material
Difficulty on this boss for a lot of people they might struggle, but....in actuality this boss is not that difficult i would give it a 3/10, the rush ability with oatchie not only does damage but it also disengages all your pikmin immediately and they just wail on the spider, when it lifts its bulb up again, whistle to being them back so they wont get caught in the confuse spray, definitely one of the most memorable bossses but its not the most difficult, i still think the Man at Legs is more difficult than this one and the spider thing in pikmin 1...forgot its name
For a Nintendo game it's relatively difficult in terms of how you can't beat it by rushing it-- nevermind, you can.
Oh well, skill issue.
I didn't think about it but, is the treasure a subwoofer?😂
Stand directly under it, spray spicy spray, throw a ton of pikmin, wait a couple seconds then call them and run away while it sprays the dance juice. Go right under it again and throw a ton on it. Took me like 2 minutes to defeat it. Very few deaths. Make sure to stand on Oatchy so you are all together. Right under the ball.
Not gonna lie this looks goofy as hell but its pretty cool
More groovy not goofy
This was the SECOND boss I fought. (Foolix was first)
Does anybody else think this looks like king from the infinite ikea
It gives itself drugs
This game needs a boss Rush mode
2:54 - *NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!*
YOU LET OATCHI DIE
The music should've been different varients off the blue ones song
The owner of pikmin 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 they should add a dance pikmin they are invincible to the gas from the groovy long legs
I'm sorry, 9/10 difficulty???? I beat it with like 3 deaths and only 10 or 15 winged pikmin (can't remember), 30-50 (can't remember) reds, and like 4 glow. this boss wasn't that difficult, was it? it WAS, however, and incredible boss fight.
edit: after looking at the other comments: did i cheese something or what? this boss wasn't that bad for me but apparently it was for every other player??? I'm not even that great at pikmin
Difficulty: 1/10
You just got lucky on the stomps. A single error and 80% of your pikmin can die instantly.
@@MulamboGFX if an error makes that happen, than it isn't luck? It was just spicy spray the wings and use oatchi to dodge. really not that difficult. I can see how making a significant error makes the fight much more difficult, but you would have to make a significant error. Something that can be easily avoided with oatchi.
For me I had trouble until I started just staying directly underneath the core and calling back before it shakes or uses the weird gas thing. Dont know if this counts as cheating or if its how you were intended to beat the boss
@@Miles02c intended
that is how you do literally every single arachnorb
no cheating even in the slightest
Did You now groovy long legs haves a disco mode ;)
Bro This Boss Isnt Even Hard Like Just Spam The A Button To Throw Pikmin Really Fast Like It Destroys Bosses Like That
Boss 9? I found him first😂
Angry at u for letting oatchi get ded
:c
Why do the characters have to announce there's a castaway nearby? Oatchi makes it obvious. Just one of many flaws.
I feel like you'd lose less Pikmin if you zoomed the camera out. It's hard to see where the GLL's feet are landing when you're basically in third person view.
Why u so scared of him?
He just wants to dance
One of my favorite bosses, beat him easily.
