I gotta say this is kinda creepy, the giant ball with giant legs that makes music before that planet died (pnf is just a ,,post apocaliptic" Earth)the darkness of the cave , only going furhter down, its really scary
This boss actually messed me up with a huge stun followed by immediately surprising me with the red mode for the first time, but I was fighting it head on without retreating like this for cover to extend the fight and enjoy how cool it was for a change lol. They literally put that little side safe zone so you could just listen to the song if you wanted to though, didn't they? Haha
I've noticed that he moves differently in each phases too. Blue: wanders around aimlessly Yellow: actively chases you Red: stays in one place, violently stomping defensively
I’ve been staring at its leg movement patterns for minutes trying to find a pattern in how it places them down but I think it’s programmed in a way that moves the leg furthest from the desired destination, instead of it cycling through a pre-set list
Beautifully handled takedown, 10 out of 10. Plus some time to enjoy a boss theme that absolutely did NOT need to go as hard as it did, but did it anyway.
It's the way the boss music starts aggressively at first but then when it pauses it's just this banger of a theme song that makes you wanna extend the fight for as long as you can cause DAMN IT'S TOO CATCHY
@@DahsThePigeonPikmin scale, remember? In reality it's somewhere between the size of a computer mouse and a novelty shot glass. I'd be more worried about accidentally stomping on it, than it stomping on me.
Its such a small detail but i wonder why 2 of its 4 legs are only bones. I havent played the game myself yet so maybe it gets explained but right now this is actually really intresting worldbuilding
Oh, that’s just a game design thing, actually. If you attack the 2 brown bone-looking legs enough times, you make Groovy Long Legs trip and fall over, opening it up to attack for a long time. The different color just signifies those are the weak ones.
I believe it's because the creature is deteriorating. On the Pikmin planet, there's a few enemies evolve to have a mechanical symbiotic relationship with machinery, like the Man-at Legs. Both the Man-at-Legs and Groovy Long Legs are from the arachnorb family, and it seems that both have evolved differently with different machinery to survive. Olimar notes that it has a few remaining organs left, so it looks like it is actually decomposing what organic material is no longer needed to survive.
That air horn is gold I love when the thing blew up and hey I’m glad I was cautious fighting this thing cuz I only lost 5 pikmin but the theme is awesome nonetheless. Overall 10/10 boss fight but it scared me shitless when I first saw it 😭
I’ve always found it funny how Nintendo games can unexpectedly and briefly become horror games out of nowhere and while the Water/Plasm Wraiths, Titan Dweevil and Sirehound all fit the bill to some capacity, Longlegs is there with ‘em IMO. As someone on the spectrum, I sometimes find myself feeling some sensory overload at loud gatherings/events and it can be little emotionally overwhelming. The already offputting design mixed with the overly loud music and aggressive beats got to me a little and that meme horn at the end was the cherry on top
Tho on the downside you get stunned for a bit if you happened to get hit by an attack that knocks oatchi over and oatchi most likely gets up before you do which has caused me more pain than you think
@@FluppietheRockruffFan yeah but once youve mastered the game even groovy long legs takes less than 3 minutes to kill. I miss the "Throw pikmin decisively, dont just go willy nilly throwing 'em."
Dude the groovy long legs theme goes so damn hard
That's why it's called groovy long legs
at first the groovy actually just minds its own business, then it gets mad at you and actually tries to follow you, then it just throws a fit.
i mean you did crash his party after all

Groovy Long Legs, the Aracnorb that said, "I want to make my own Boos Music".
I like how it's attack pattern is connected to the music, that's nice detail
That's because Groovy Long Legs themselves is producing the music. They're just vibin'.

MAN THE YELLOW PHASE IS THE BEST PART ABOUT THE GROVEY LONG LEGS
Nintendo Devs really played security breach and loved the Music Man fight as much as us.
Friendship ended with man-at-legs, groovy legs is my new favourite 4 legged oddball
The beginning almost sounds like a Boss theme from Darktide.
The way the Groovy legs stomps to his own beat is undeniable
This scares the shit out of me
This was honestly so useful I was attacking these totally wrong and throwing individual pikmin. Its way smarter to smash into it with oatchi
Really shows how damn op Oatchi's launching mechanic is. Really sad that they didnt nerf Oatchi before release
