I love that vise! I need to make one of those. I forgot about that drill bit injury OUCH! I didn’t know that you had nerve damage tho WOW. I’m going to the drawing board to and think of some sound hole patterns to push on you lol
The oil is not that difficult and I can do that. I have not considered a raised ring around it. Certainly a ring lining it would be appropriate. The French curve that I show you on the video has some ovals already to be used as a template.
Ok WOW! So excited to see the sides of the guitar together! Then we had to pause the video…..talk & research 20 mins about the port. John has 4 acoustic guitars mostly plays his electrics and we weren’t familiar with the port! Always learning from you!!! Please if you decide to heat & bin wear a glove for me 😂! I love the maple, but whatever you choose will be perfect! Another outstanding video thank you so much for educating us! ~Cara 💖
I haven't posted yet as I have been walking. It is beautiful here right now and I am taking advantage of the weather.I think it will be a geometric soundport.
Hi Monty, thanks for the video. As a guitar player this sound hole looks like a good idea, I would like to play a guitar that has one just to see for myself. As a woodworker I like the maple design that you showed in the video as I think it adds a Canadian element to your beautiful work. Thanks
Well, I don't think you can wrong with the maple leaf for a Canadian made guitar. The possibilities are endless. The water drops sounded interesting but then the standard oval is accepted by must everyone. I'm sure you'll come up with the right decision.
Okay, the Maple leaf looks fire and I dig it! 🔥 BTW: Monty, ever thought of setting up an affiliate link with Amazon? It would help a few of us find some of the things you mention (plus, you get some extra change for the next big tea purchase)? 😉
That's a great idea! Maybe I should try doing that once again. I did it earlier, but I had very little response. I was hoping that it might generate enough funds to pay for some of the editing software, or that I could perhaps purchase something and give it away to subscribers who watch my videos.

That may be a good idea.
Oval is best for sure ; they are difficult to draw though .A raised ring binding around it is great !

I'd vote for the rain drops sound port. 🙂
I think that could look really cool.
I am not familiar with the sound port but I like the raindrop idea.
Thank you for sharing!
I do like the rain drops.

Thank you for your comment.
I like the idea of a medallion. Could it be something that could be removable or is it to be used as a template to make the cuts?
I never thought of something that is removable. Very intersting idea. See, I need you watching these videos Neil.

what about the oval with smaller holes running around the outside of it?
@@MontyMcKinnon That would be unique.
Ladis work or basket weave would look really awesome as a sound hole, could also use multi layers and different color woods in the future ~Smile oN
Great idea!
How about two rain drops with the two narrow points end to end like an infinity symbol
That's good and I can do the narrow cuts but I need a jig for that. Rain drops works.
than you Monty.
Welcome

A father and son guitar? Or a Monty and Peter guitar?
I would like that but Peter just have the time and I have given him a guitar.
Ever drink decaffeinated tea?
All the time. Yorkshire Decaf is a good tea and I like it weak.
triangular with curved edges.
I actually did that on a guitar years ago.
