    Great atmosphere! The solo is what Hank wanted on the record, he was unhappy with the one we all know! The guitar sounds incredible as do the group. Never equalled.

      I loved the solo on the recorded version! I believe that this solo is consistent with his later style (when he started to use the neck pickup and then the Burns)!

    Wow. This is SO much better than the studio version. Hank’s solo rips and the snare fills at the end have so much more power. In the studio version he seemed to have been holding back.

      Sadly, much of the music was "flattered out" during the production process. This version of The Savage is how we could have - should have heard the tune. What is done can not be undone, however The Savage as mixed here is a belated thrill. It took a long time to get here, but now it has arrived there is a lot of listening pleasure ahead. Big thanks for posting.

    Funny the statements that Bruce Welch or Cliff Richard were superfluous. Welch's rhythm merges with Meehan on most records, especially because he used acoustic guitar, so his rhythms and Tony's mixed. As for Cliff...the top singer in Europe was nobody's hanger-on. Most of us used the phrase "Cliff Richard and the Shadows" for good reason.

    • @joeloesch1219
      @joeloesch1219 3 роки тому

      @UA-camINCLUSIVITYWHATAJOKE Amen to all of that! So many records from the Shadows, or Cliff and the Shadows, have that mixture of acoustic and drums. We'd already heard how acoustic guitar added extra life to those Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson records, hey? The Everlys' J200s on Claudette and Problems and the other Cadence records still make me smile. And the acoustic under Burton's electric kept Ricky's records moving (plus the unrecognized piano, as usual). But when I heard Bruce and Tony mixed together, man, that was it. How about "The Stranger" or "Lessons In Love" or "WonderfulLand" ...it goes on and on, doesn't it. And we got to hear all that.

      Et inversement, tous les "Shadows" savent qu'ils ne sont rien tout seul, c'est pourquoi ils sont les rares à avoir surmonté leurs différents pour nous donner le meilleur de ce super talent qu'ils possèdent et ce depuis bien longtemps. La subtilité du groupe réside, entre autre, dans la complicité de la cymbale de Bennett et de l'aigü de la guitare de Welch, rythme et son uniques dans le genre.

    Definitely Tony on this - superb, hence well before those Shitty Burns guitars. What a shame they haven't allowed official release of this version - not perfect, but what the hell, it has more feel than the single or film versions.

I used to play all the Shadows stuff in the early 1960s (1963 on) so I generally y know which pickup Hank played each tune! Why is Richard shown in this clip. He was totally superfluous to The Shadows. No talent of his own, just a hanger on. No-one nor nothing beats THE ORIGINAL SHADOWS.

    • @barrybaddams7095
      @barrybaddams7095 3 роки тому +6

      Ignorant comment and an irrelevant comparison. The Shadows emerged from The Drifters who were formed around Cliff Richard - if not for Cliff, the Shadows would never have existed. Cliff had 14 No. 1 UK hits and The Shadows around 5 I think. They complemented each other. Cliff is still going strong after 60 years in the biz- excellent achievement for a no-talent hanger-on don't you think?

      Avec des " Si ", rien ne serait pareil, avec Richard les Shadows ont été mis en évidence, et sans eux, Richard n'aurait pas eu le succès qu'il a connu ; ils étaient tous bien ensemble, rien sans les uns et les autres. La réputation de The Shadows dans le monde entier vient essentiellement de leur talent exceptionnel ; les connaisseurs laissent Richard de côté pour cet orchestre unique en son genre. Çà fait 65 ans que je les écoute sans écouter un seul morceau de Cliff, au risque de choquer les Shadows eux-mêmes. L'amitié les lie vraiment, pas forcément le talent que chacun possède même en l'absence de l'autre.
