Very useful video, you clearly showed us how to setup Active Directory Domain Services on Windows Server 2022, also discussing some of the pitfalls. Thanks Jon!
Great to see you back Sir, sending ❤️ from Kolkata, West Bengal, India for you and your family, wish you make the best ever new video series on all kinds of technical issues and practical troubleshooting scenarios for Windows Server and all kinds of technical videos related to Windows Server Patching, Windows Server Migration, Windows Server Provisioning, Windows Server Backup Management and everything related to Windows Server
Very interesting video which is not different of the previous ADDS installation. Watching again is always interesting. Good explanation Jon. Nice seeing you again.
Hi John, as you mention there is little difference in terms of the ADDS installation & config process in Server 2022 from Server 2019. Always good to hear from you. Thanks for taking the time to comment and feedback your thoughts, much appreciated👍 Best wishes Jon
Another great video as ever Jon, very insightful to me as ever Hoping to start learning Server 2022 in a bit more depth soon with my created USB stick Have just created a 2016 app server to host some basic applications as well as shares to a end user 😀
Have now got my Server 2022 disk and box imaged and ready to go Jon, planning to try and share some apps from it, such as mind mapping software tools, and portable apps such as CPU Z- Portable, still working on the actual purpose, but the good news is I have got it joined to my dummy windows network domain In addition I have managed to get a Server 2019 disk imaged to be a web server, this one is still in progress of configuration Will pass on photos of that project when I’m a bit further down the line with it 😀
Hi Robert, I can see you have been busy with some interesting test projects going on in the lab. I wish you well and keep me updated with how it's going👍
Thank you very much!!!! I’m not a professional IT person, but I do have an idea how to program computers. This was a very important lesson for me. Peer-to-peer didn’t work. The control AD DS is what I needed to see the computers and the folder. Thanks again the lesson.
Hi, I have a problem. At the minute 1:18 active directory domain services has disappeared from roles. I tried to install various versions but can't find the active directory domain servicies role. How can I do ? Thank you
Hi if you are experimenting and testing in a lab environment, you could use an internal domain name like lab.local, but avoid doing so in a production environment. I have a video that talks more in depth about this and may be of interest? ua-cam.com/video/gWJ99vN7Q60/v-deo.html
when I booted back up after the install (toward the end of the vidoe). it let me sign in as the local admin = .\administrator So I'm not exactly sure how that works😅
Hi, you can add roles and features at any time. If you've added the ADDS role, but not configured it, click on the flag/notifications in server manager it will display outstanding configuration tasks.
Hi good day!..I would just like to ask question about the root domain name under the deployment configuration when adding a new forest. This root domain name, is this the one to use in the "Destination URL" field when you are deploying your website using FTP in visual studio? Thanks
Hi, unless in the test lab, it's best to avoid deploying web / ftp services on a domain controller. The forest root domain name is the first domain created in AD DS. The url used for uploading to a web service is whatever record is set up in DNS to map to the host (typically a public registered FQDN). This can typically taken care of by an external DNS server is the website is hosted.
thank you sir, this is informative and precise presentation.

Hiya. Does the domain name has to be a registered domain?

What you did to fix this pls
How do you "Promote this server to a domain controller" if you forget to add it during installation?

@@ittaster Just as you said it would be! Thank you so much for you help!!

weird i never got the dns tile and the ad ds tile
A possible suggestion may be to check if DNS and ADDS tools are present under tools in server manager.
@@ittaster sorry I forgot to update this comment, it took a bit for the tiles to appear, it's working now
very helpful
Good
Thank You Sir.
Thanks friend!
