Spoke with him for quite a while one day. He was truly elegant, intelligent, humourous, forthcoming (but not too) and a great raconteur. His departure was one of the most shocking pieces of news ever landed on me. I hope Jack is doing alright. Lots of white light to Margaret, Bridget and Justin. And to Jane. Sincerely yours...
A mutual friend told me Jack is getting well. He’s going on short hikes around Aspen now. I was his neighbor for a while. Jack bought a small farm for the friends of mine near Ledieux, NM. when they were filming in Taos. And he loaned another friend the bread to buy two tractor trailer trucks and get set up in the trucking business. It’s call Two Jacks Trucking. My friend has two Jack Russell Terriers that ride along with him.

My Mom and I saw Easy Rider and Midnight Cowboy as a double feature. Afterwards she said I want to travel and see America. I said I might want to become a Hippie. I think they should have stayed at the Commune. They traveled to New Orleans just to meet a few hookers. That is why I think he said We blew it. RIP Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Karen Black. No one mentions Karen Black but she was a real good actress. I will never forget her in 5 Easy Pieces.
He said we blew it because what people thought of them as people not treated as normal human beings it got to him. The hookers was just a night of fun but the scenes you can see where it was getting to him and ruining his time he set out for, freedom etc

Americana has always been out there for people to discover. The different parts of our country are so diverse it’s like going to a totally different country. No wonder people come from all over the world to see the real Americana.
I remember back in the 1990's putting the video of this on for a girl I knew at college who had called round, and she said, and I quote; "It's just a couple of blokes riding about on bikes..." Ooookayyy... ;-0
I've got a few b/w pics of Peter Coyote on a good-looking chopper. I had no idea that Peter Coyote was ever into motorcycles. Kudos to Jim Leonard (who built the best ER replica bikes). Dennis Hopper (RIP)
I knew what Peter meant when he said we blew it to Dennis hopper. It took me a while to figure it out then it hit me. Peter had heart and while Billy forgot about the lawyer getting killed and though they had succeeded getting all the money, Peter saw beyond the money and realized that the dead lawyer they left behind was more Important then the money so they blew it with a man getting killed on their trip to Mardi Gras. To Peter the lawyer was more important then the money and they they blew it leaving him there. Billy on the other hand forgets about him here.Peter does not., and so fells bad they left a dead man behind.
The footage is from that part of the film where they've visited the commune, and Peter Fonda is looking at the grain, around the point where he says "They're gonna make it". But I put some sunburst visual effects on it and used a bit of the Stephen Stills song 'Find The Cost Of Freedom', from the acapella live version sung by Crosby and Nash with David Gilmour at the Royal Albert hall in 2006. That wasn't in the film, though Crosby Stills & Nash had originally been approached to write the whole score.
How ironic it is that now Antifa would attack the "Captain America" character Peter Fonda played because he was wearing an American flag! R.I.P. Peter Fonda.
Great movie. Peter's made more money than most of us posting will ever see. His comments about the US are typical of someone from Hollywood that acts ,that cannot grasp the reality of living in such a great country. Due to the cost of the 16 minutes of film excerpts we used across the four episodes, we were only ever allowed to broadcast it once, on ARTE in Europe, which is a terrible shame. There no DVDs, downloads or streaming options either I'm afraid.
@@ThePepperlou My pleasure. this was made half way through production, and it turned out really well. It is very frustrating that it never reached a wider audience.

I'd always loved Peter Fonda since watching him in his landmark film ^Easy Rider^ that I'd seen about 50 times! But it was sad that besides cancer, he also died a libtard, not seeing how the democratic party had changed. I woke up to that fact in 2015 but ordered a coffee mug of Peter^s sister Jane with her 1970 mug shot on it! I always loved the Fonda family since their dad, Henry.
How the Democratic party changed? You mean from racist to progressive? While the GOP's descent into full blown Orwellian governance doesn't bother you. Cool.
@@burgeyburgful No. Democrats went from racist to race baiting. There is nothing "progressive" about an ideaology that is 100 years old and still failing when applied. And: It was the first half black president that "Orwellianized" the IRS, CIA, FBI. I know by now you see whats really going on.

Sadly not, but thanks for the kind words. This was a 4 x 52 mins series which received great critical acclaim on first broadcast in continental Europe on ARTE, and went on the win the Gold World Medal "Cultural Issues", New York Festivals in 2012. However, due to the expense of clearing 16 minutes of footage from the film for those four episodes, we only ever had the rights to show it in central Europe for one year, so no further broadcasts, DVDs or streaming are ever likely to be on the cards - which is a real shame.
@@Bobrinsky That is unfortunate. This post was 5 years ago and technology has advanced. Is the problem a legal issue? Perhaps the situation has evolved?
@@richardscott3724 Sadly not. We licensed 16 minutes of excerpts from the film to use across the 4 episodes and, in order to make that even vaguely affordable, we had to agree to very limited rights.
