Beautiful pieces of rolling stock, I've always loved railroad maintenance equipment like this, they add a lot of character and realizem to a train and a layout. Great video
I have always loved the MTH Premier product line, Atlas is doing a great job in keeping that quality, I have the NS crane and tender from a few years ago! Thanks
This is a really cool chrane and chrane caboose tender car brother, what I did with my new york central charen was oiled the plastic gears so i would not grind them down at all and i also oiled my wheels on the trucks of my charne, i do not remember who tought me that at all, but it is very good advice.
Must be 20 years ago when my son was little one of our very first cars was a CSX Crane Car & Tender from MTH. It’s just like yours and works perfect all these years latter. Its nice Atlas is carrying on these items for sure.
I carry the lock blade Milwaukee at the mill i work at they are very dependable and resharpen easily. The Milwaukee knife comes from the factory VERY sharp, upon using the knife more than 5-10 times, it will dull quickly. I say that because I am sure the blades would be the same materials. Great video by the way, as usual!!!! Thank you for sharing.
It was nice to see some MTH stuff coming back. My son has one in the MTH . Early one he played with it a lot.. Now he enjoys it sitting on the side track. JH
My ATSF crane came in from NYC yesterday, and I've ordered the ATSF tender from Legacy Station today, BEFORE I found this review ...... I'm thinking about pulling mine with the Lionel ATSF Hudson I bought earlier this year, but I have the switcher you showed and that's an idea ....... I have to admit my road gang are Lego construction figures, so my crashes and salvage ops aren't exactly scale, but they're fun ...... thanks Eric
Very cool stuff there by atlas. That Lionel Burlington crane video is one of my favorite you’ve ever made that thing is so freaking sweet I hope Lionel does them again.
I just received my Western Pacific crane and tender this week. Very pleased. Gave them a bit of light, light weathering and they look great in my work train. Glad Atlas is going forward with MTH quality in their offerings.
I have rare Atheran Southern MOW cranes 2 or 3 in HO highly sought after very nicely detailed. O scale is very done I agree if not broken why change it unless going to do Major change. Awesome Eric .
Eric I like how you added the Work train boxcars from Lionel. Hopefully no farting was heard on this train......... 😏😂😏 Also you were the one that convinced me to get those when Lionel reissued them last year. I really like them.
@@Ericstrains there was one steam locomotive. I wish that Lionel has done! They should have did a model of The Flying Scotsman for its 100th birthday now I know Lionel is expensive, but if they would’ve did a model of her for its 100 birthday I would have somehow found the money to buy that model and some track for it!
Eric, 😅 yes the crane really do look great I just wish that it was Electric but like you said it can be shown as a work train just sitting somewhere off the track thanks a lot
Do you still have the Burlington Northern Crane car and other car that you bought separately to put rail ties on or tools in the real world you did a video on that years ago
This looks great but I see one flaw. They need to make the crane able to turn easier so when it's lowered onto the crane tender the hooks can lock into the tender and swing with the tender so it can make the turns better into the tunnels. I went back and watched at 12:03 in video it hits the side of the tunnel entrance.
That's a 3 rail o scale engineering issue. On a real railroad the curves would rarely be tight enough to cause the hooks to hit the car. I have the old MTH 125 ton, 4 axle wrecker. With the boom raised enough it does swing clear of a K-Line drop end gondola that I use as the idler. Always pull boom to rear was was railroad practice. I guess that way the boom will be pushed back towards track centerline instead of swinging even further out if it does hit something.
I'm assuming that there really isn't module to add a motor Don't get me wrong, it's a nice crane to add to a collection. However, I rather have a crane that I could actually control by a remote control.
Hi Eric. I'm just curious, was the crane able to clear your layout's tunnels? Both models look very nice, but I am somewhat concerned the crane boom may not be able to clear the tunnels on my layout both of which are on curves. Thank you. Bill B.
Model crane tenders are so ugly. How many railroads used a tiny caboose on a flatcar? Santa Fe was using chopped down 6 axle passenger cars with the big hooks.

I enjoy the nice run around the track and the combination of the work cars.

12:02 watch out!!

Those are awesome models. I love the variety of your collection.
Very cool stuff there by atlas. That Lionel Burlington crane video is one of my favorite you’ve ever made that thing is so freaking sweet I hope Lionel does them again.
Great set.I have a set.I was surprised how big they are compared to Lionel traditional ones
The Premier O scale cars are still high quality.
I just received my Western Pacific crane and tender this week. Very pleased. Gave them a bit of light, light weathering and they look great in my work train. Glad Atlas is going forward with MTH quality in their offerings.
I kinda wish I had ordered the WP crane myself. I saw it at the store and it looks great!

Wow, This Crane with Tender looks Awesome Eric., also it is Very Nicely Detailed.👍
Extraordinary looking model I use to have an ho scale crane car and tender
I do like Atlas. Oddly, I have a work train running on my layout today too. Git 'er done. 🚂
MOW cars look amazing.
Lol 😆 I think that boom hit the side of that single Track tunnel opening💥 ?
Good editing.
The tender looks great with its safety stripes.
Amazing consist, looks incredble
The Burlington Northern you did was ran with your remote
Nice closeups of both!
Looks like you got a nice work train going there Eric the crane and his tender looks great thanks for sharing 👍👍
That’s a pretty cool train set at the end.
I love this crane car with the tender! 😍😍😍😍😍
Love the crane cars, got my grandpa's lionel 6560
Very nice set.
Nice...another cool train to run at your open house 👍
It's good to see Atlas honored MTH tooling as it was intended. Wish lionel did the same
Very cool crane and tender Eric!!!
That train set would look amazing with some heavy weathering. No one ever cleans a work train.
Like you said great model!👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks again for another awesome review, i did not see the link for these to purchase? Thanks again Eric!
It looks like fun.
Very nice 😎🚂 great review I like cranes I them on my layout
And I like Santa Fe. I think I may order them
Good looking cars.

Cool Crane, man! Cool Crane!
Thanks!

hey Eric, any info on the Lionel Strasburg Railroad #90?
Nice work train you've made!
very nice Eric
I like your new intro
Is there anyway you can do a video explaining the difference between an atlas o turn out switch and a regular Atlas o 72 radius switch one day ?
Nice set good colors but i love my X-13 w/ tmcc. !!!
Eric, 😅 yes the crane really do look great I just wish that it was Electric but like you said it can be shown as a work train just sitting somewhere off the track thanks a lot
If it was electric it wouldn't be affordable...like it is.
There similar to the tyco ones I have on my ho layout just a lot more bigger except I'm missing the noobs to mine lol
The scrolling shot looks really nice
I have a 250 ton NYC big hook crane lionle made from 1985 and it is all black
Great!
Do you own more trains then knives or more knives then trains
More trains by a long shot. I’ve probably got about 250 or so knives in my collection.
@@Ericstrains lol
Tunnel strike at 12:03? 🤔
Do you still have the Burlington Northern Crane car and other car that you bought separately to put rail ties on or tools in the real world you did a video on that years ago
I got my first transformer and more track
Eric are the box cars and the Black S2 Atlas?
It doesn't go through your tunnels well, does it?
Hey Eric you might be able to power your layout on battery powered I think that will be cool right Eric?
I’ve got a backup battery generator that could power it for a short time
@@Ericstrains oh ok Eric.
Very nice..... I have an old MTH Crane car and tender..... Atlas makes a superior product overall.....
This looks great but I see one flaw. That was a little Easter egg

So - is it a Train Crane or a Crane Train?
Hi Eric. I'm just curious, was the crane able to clear your layout's tunnels? Both models look very nice, but I am somewhat concerned the crane boom may not be able to clear the tunnels on my layout both of which are on curves. Thank you. Bill B.
A wide tunnel, yes. Narrow tunnel might be a problem
As evidenced by the video cutting to a different shot just as the boom was about to hit the (single-track) portal :D
@@RailRide Hi RailRide, thank you. That actual cutaway is what prompted my question. Bill
@@RailRide Left that in there just for fun lol
is it motorized or powered using legacy/tmcc /dcs or just tradition manual movement ?
Completely manual.
That’s covered in the video.
Eric sus, nah I’m just picking on ya for a laugh, good review.
Common atlas W
Indeed
What?
@@EricstrainsW means W.
So atlas commonly makes stuff that's Wimning, or W
Lol its literally an MTH tooled model! Cant believe Atlas has stooped so low in quality.
