A critical point in their careers. The whole ''psychedelic era thing'' came at exactly the right time for the Moodies. After Days of future past, they hopped on that train and the rest is history.

Just let me keep my legs so I could join those beautiful people on the dance floor to Peak Hour!!! 14:39 I am 64 but watching that made me feel 18 again! What a scene. The Moody Blues are my personal favorite band of all time. Ray Thomas inspired me to begin playing the flute. My wife Lynn-Ellison Hill bought me a Geminhardt silver flute for Christmas in 1971 and I learned how to play "Nights In White Satin" ....I still have that flute today in 2017....I will cherish the flute, my memories of her and pass them all on to my grandchildren ....

Terrance Hill, my father worked at Geminhardt in Elkhart Indiana as a flute finisher in 1971. It's very possible that he finished your flute. I still have the flute he built for me.

0:00 Fly me High (the crowd didn't mind hearing it twice! This time, there's actual dancing).
3:15 I've Got a Dream (cover of an obscure single by The Soul Brothers. Sung by Denny Laine on the first MB album "The Magnificent Moodies").
6:47 Beautiful Dream (unreleased song by John Lodge, never recorded in the studio. Kind of early Pink Floyd-ish!)
11:00 Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (cover of a Nina Simone song. They had done it for the BBC in 1967, but never properly recorded in the studio).
14:30 Peak Hour (has this been misedited?)
20:40 Nights in White Satin (again, a 2nd performance. Applause and dancing this time!)

As a schoolboy during this era the music of the time fascinated me...it was a time of innovation and experimentation, if one could pass by the cheesy chart topping hits...I absolutely adored the likes of Homburg by Procol Harum. Amazingly I didn’t discover the Moody Blues till 1982, thanks to a friend who lent me two albums...Days Of Future Passed And Seventh Sojourn. I taped them both and every day for the next few months I played them in the car, having clocked up thousands of miles! Even though I “missed” the Moodies back in 1967/8 etc. The sound transposed me back to those times, (as in my subconscious I was reliving it all...it certainly has stayed with me all these decades later).

And check out the rock and rock and roll Clark Kent.
Aside from some choppy editing, I think The Moodies changed Peak Hour a little bit.

*OK, not their most intense. OK, OK, the dancing is out-of-this-world nerdy. OK, OK, OK its black and white. Ouch! But still, surely the world has gone mad. I can live with not getting 39M views. But not even 3.9M, nor 390K, nor 39K views. Just 3908 views. That hurts. Truly, the fu@king world's gone mad. Listens to all kinds of crap but the Moody Blues? No, too boring for them.*

Anyone know if they wrote the 9th song or did the Animals?

Neither of them. It was written for Nina Simone. Sorry, I can't remember the names of the composers. Check on Wikipedia, if you want to find out.

It was Nina Simone first, and The Animals with Eris Burdon did it in 1964.
