I actually knew About Tamagotchi after watching shinchan (a Japanese anime/cartoon show) lmao 😂 In that episode shinchan's mom had to feed his tamagotchi while he was in school and did all the things to save it and he literally forgot about this game after few days and it was his mom who got more engaged in it.

Then there was a new release of Tomagatchis when I was like 20 and my mom got me one for Christmas because it was on sale and I had fun playing around with that instead of a phone game. I had a friend who was a few years younger following me around and she started trying to bully me about how I “wasn’t 5!!” Because she’s been about 5 when they first came out. I didn’t know how to tell her this was a middle school thing for me, it was nostalgic without feeling like I was being bullied with ageism. It felt bad. Every once in a while a good tamagotchi resurgence is nice!!

Pro tip if you still have one: you can “pause” your Tamagotchi so their hunger and happiness meters don’t go down when you’re away by leaving it on the “set time” screen (Home Screen -> B button -> A and C button simultaneously)! You will need to update the time afterwards, but that’s pretty easy and it saves your little buddy from dying.
