The Return to WOLFVILLE (Part 1). Will I find any VINYL RECORDS worth buying?

- Chris from Rekkid Talk spend a day in Wolfville hitting up the same 4 antique malls that he checked out last year on the failed search for old-school rap rekkids by the legendary Super Wolf. Is it the same crap I left behind last year, or is there new crap to entice me? Is that Led Zep II in the click-baity thumbnail from a Robert Ludwig album?

Thanks for once again proving that antique malls are a great place to make your fingers grimy. I've had the rare experience of visiting 2 stores in 2 states. Walked out with $1 CDs in one place and 20-80% off rekkids in the other. Alvvays to new Lydia Loveless by way of Juju (Afrocentric 70s jazz) plus Mort Garson. Probably get to another store with my crazy stepsis tomorrow.
Next time I'll remember to film the hand sanitizer (or lack of) in the store.
It's been a while since I posted over one of your creations. I must say I like the traveling around and the 5 Minute 5 Record videos the most. I least liked are the contest video because I just don't care about contest or gambling and find that the true cost of most contest or gambling to be more expensive ultimately than it might have been just getting what you wanted to begin with.
.... So, the Road Trips are fun for the following reasons:
1. I see a lot of records that are going to stay and stay and stay till the owners die and their relatives decided the majority of the Products are just TRASH. SO, if you are lucky, you'll be around to take advantage of it or one day arrive to find that like STAMP Collections and COIN Collections you will rarely find them being sold at most RETAILERS.
2. I see the same problems of hunting records through retailers I see 1,000s of miles away with un-realistic prices & for a Quality that's nearly non-existent.
a. As a result I think they get most of their products at 'garage sales.' I also believe they sell off the records of value to established collection companies who have the clientele to pay higher prices. Then the rest of the Albums you or I see are the scraps (records) for high prices for the public's scavenging & hope to find that expensive album.
The Garage Sale I don't think will run dry completely, but I do believe as the cost of albums rise frome these sources will eventually make GAS, wear and tear, time and frustration diminish the number of 'retailers' making it easier for me to Purchase :) as they leave the market.
3. Collections & Collectors for Profits will also disappear as peoples experience significant decrease the value of their collections. Of course, the Beatles, Stones, Blues Notes, etc. will keep some of its value, but even they (popular albums) will eventually lose values from either
a.) Inflation or more likely.
b.) loss of interest as the cost for start-up collectors realize collections needed a buyer before they are worth a dime.
There is a REASON that PATRICK and WAX began selling records and that's because the value of said records are probably at their PEAK Values. Do they (retailers) know that? Maybe not, but they sense it and are taking advantage of their connections made years ago, much like Mazzy's experience in selling albums in a historically wealthier community has led to his finding old BUYERS ready to liquidate their collections before they die.
I don't watch many of the AUDIO Channel Content, but I do find yours one of the best because I think your background in Education has a certain kind of beginning and ending to them (the videos).
As for buying higher dollar albums...
Patrick's Auctions may not be the best that are out there, but over all his years of collecting have made his purchasing knowledge (he knows where good albums are found cheap) help to keep the prices down and the Quality UP!
.... On top of that is Patrick's taste in music is closer to what I want, and I have found buying LESS Famous Albums (or Artist I don't know) at prices above $1 or $2 dollars more interesting because my focus is to own only the music and never the someday 'collector's' prices.

Free free to skip the videos that don't interest you. I do have more "in the store" videos coming, probably about once every other week.
I've watched all of your videos, but the last few weeks have been busy and didn't post on most of them.
Hell I wasn't even around for Rachel's Show and if all things (trying to make some money here) work out then I'm probably going to be extra Busy

That store would test my attention span and my sense of ehr… justice fairly quickly. There’s a local thrift store here where I’m expected to move tons of books and dvd’s from one end of the store and then put them back in order to access his records. Lets just say it like the Brits, that gets on my sodding tits!

The stamper was incorrect for the Ludwig.Side 1 is narrow,but winddown groove runs around 3 times to the dead groove.That alone is a Ludwig characteristic.Side 2's narrow dead wax is,of course,really narrow.Even before you check for the RL in it.

High hopes with some vendors. But when you see those same piles, you know that you are saving time, when you don't need to go thru thoses. I visted yesterday big fleamarket where I was last time one year ago. Same crappy piles there too, but two new vendors and oh boy I found many 2 € LPs and one grail, but that was "normally priced".

Hi Chris!! well it all seems to be bussiness as usual in some of those antique mall boths...... trashed and overpriced albums and a lot of crappy record no one seems to care about..... btw did you end up getting the ACDC album? cheers and be well
I did buy the AC/DC. I almost bought the Kate Bush but it wasn't quite in good enough shape for the price, I felt.
These places are disgusting, honestly why bother. When I see the phrase 'Antique Mall' I read 'Overpriced Junk'... As a long time used record store owner, the quality is shit junk from the real record dealers crapper pile, Stuff I give to the UK equivalent of Goodwill. So it's bought for peanuts and regurgitated by greedy con people who fancy themselves record sellers in the fishbowl of an Antique Mall... They think worn, scratched trashed records are valuable. Hate these places, these people don't care about music.
Part of the fun is finding the good ones among all the terrible records as you describe. I also like to make fun of people that think crappy rekkids are worth big money.
@@RekkidTalk fair enough, I'm a little calmer now...😆. I just realised the time and effort trawling these places as a collector or a reseller can be such a waste. But, sometimes folks don't have a lot of choice. I live in a city, I forget there's 6 used record stores and about 5 record shows a month within a half hour drive. Plus I have my store and spend about two grand a month on people's record collections. It was an interesting watch and I hope some great stuff turns up for you.
