**this all becomes harder when you haven’t used your sewing machine in two years and it’s all dusty and you can’t tell where the hole in the needle is**
Thanks Jennifer, I have inherited my grandmother's old Janome machine (Contessa) and considering it's been 20 years since High School, I had forgotten the basics. Very helpful thank you, now I am going to carry on with her passion for sewing.
I can not tell you how helpful you are to me right this moment. I have been trying to thread a “new” out of the box machine that was in my late mother’s closet. It’s a Kenmore if that tells you anything. Your comprehensive step by step was exactly what I needed to hear, and watch. Guess what. It worked. I’m sending you hugs and thanks at this very moment 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🧡🥰🥰🧡
Great video for beginners... trying to find something for a friend to watch & help her with her 1st sewing machine... but the only 1 labelled for beginners on you tube was just some one flexing with a machine no beginner would ever buy!
Thank you for this really helpful tutorial! I just received a sewing machine and I had no idea how to do that (how to thread a sewing machine), thank you again 😊
I've been named the designated mask manufacturer in my family because I'm crafty and had the audacity to ask for a sewing machine a few years ago. I haven't used one in over a decade, I don't remember how it works!
I mentioned wanting a sewing machine very casually. My grandma took it literal and bought me a machine a few years ago. It's been collecting dust as Ive only used a machine once or so in home ec class 25 yrs ago in middle school. Today I will attempt to make my dogs a harness. 😅
1:33 When she says "this piece" that is actually called the "take-up" because it takes up the thread. 2:05 When she says "these hooks" they are really called "thread guides" because they guide the thread toward the needle. I learned this in 7th grade sewing class, decades ago, back in the 60s... ----Jake's mom
This is very helpful! I subscribed after seeing a few videos, as a student who hasn't taken sewing classes this is amazing, I'm making my mum a massive elf for Christmas and usually get my sewing knowledge from her, of course she can't see this so i have to do it all myself, defnitely taking sewing next year though 😄
I love that Google's top result for threading a machine is a half-finished tutorial that leaves out the bobbin entirely. What's even the purpose if you're only giving half the information?
Thank you, I loved you tutorial on how to thread and wind your bobbin on the sewing machine. It was very helpful, and simple instructions, I am ready to start sewing, and start new projects. Thank you so much!!!
Very helpful. Thank you. I am just about to go pick up my new sewing machine and embark on this new journey, so I need all the help I can get, especially to know how to thread a needle to start with. ^_^. Thank you for the tutorial.
I'm not sure if you are talking too fast or moving too fast or what, but I am STILL clueless. The one gem that I got is that it's ok to thread the needle manually which I managed to do. But I have two rolls of thread, one is underneath & then the top thread. I just don't know what to do with them, so my journey continues on to the next video .. I wish there was a so so button to rate this video..
The first thing to do is take the thread and put it on the spool pin at the back, the thread has to be in the opposite direction to the thread, then it is to pass the thread through the upper loop, then pass the thread down so that the thread through the tension, then put the thread through this piece that pulls and put the thread, so that it is secure, then pull it down and on the left side of the bush there is a small hook and you have to put the thread there and the last step is to take the thread and pass it through the hole and pull the thread through the back
Thanks for the vid, being a single Dad not only do the meals, dishes, laundry, yard work etc. need to be done but yes sewing as well, I have had the Shark Euro pro XL for some years now and never realized it had a self threader for the needle until I watched your video, so much time wasted and frustration. I did watch your other vid on loading the bobbin which is a different procedure than threading the machine. Kevin VanOrd. I am having one problem maybe you could help, when I use thicker thread, outdoor mould free or upholstery thread the machine jams up, can I just buy a different needle for that or is something else required.
Everyone stop on 3:27 and see her face but also thanks for the clear explanation me and my grandma couldn't get it before we watched this video THANKS!
Yeah .... I’ve got some weird thing on the top of my machine the thread is supposed to go through/round and the pictures in the manual are not clear enough .... the rest of it I’ve got no problem with just that little hooky thing with what appears to be a metal “stay” no idea if it’s supposed to go under or over that - just have to go use it and see if it breaks I guess
This is so intimidating because I forgot to take a picture of the threading configuration before I fixed my wive's sewing machine because the needle wouldn't go up and down.
Hi. U mentioned threads back to front, front to back n left to right? What are d significants of these differences? Could u explain? I'm a beginner kindergarten type
,I understand what you do with the top threat but where to I introduce thebobine threat. The instructions to my (cheap) machine don't make the clear. The threat from the horizontal bobine comes up from the bottom, and the instructions do not clarify where you feed the bobine threat.
Hi, I sewed a blouse and skirt, but when I pull the thread out when I'm done sewing, I have loose thread and I'm unsure of how to keep it from running? Thanks!
First problem is that thread should be fed off the top - not as she mounted it here. This will cause problems as well. Only horizontal would threads should be placed on the spool on top of the machine as used in this video.
yo i have inherited my grandma’s sewing machine and i have never sewn before in my life. And there is no manual to this sewing machine. I don’t even know what kind
I have a problem. My machine's lever thing that goes up and down, doesn't have a clear space for me to put the thread through I'm scared I'm going to break the machine. I have a brother simplicity SB700T.
bought a mini one to fix pants but got it all set yet it just pierces material never sews, my instructions say to twist with bobbin(kit didnt have one ) , fun
**this all becomes harder when you haven’t used your sewing machine in two years and it’s all dusty and you can’t tell where the hole in the needle is**
yep 😀🤚
I haven't sown in 14 years lol.
Yep. Owned it for 10 years.. now I’m trying to learn 🤯
I got my sewing machine 6 years ago and I haven't used it once but I did loose the instructions 🤣
Me rn
28 yrs in construction , almost took sewing machine apart trying to thread it, ooops. glad i watched your video first, thanks
🤣🤣🤣 same but mid video i decided to face time my grandma for help
Thanks Jennifer, I have inherited my grandmother's old Janome machine (Contessa) and considering it's been 20 years since High School, I had forgotten the basics. Very helpful thank you, now I am going to carry on with her passion for sewing.
May her legacy live on
I have my Grammy sewing machine also! Such a beautiful thing that I cherish having some thing she used by her own hand!

I got a sewing machine for Christmas and I've been trying to figure this out thank you so much!!
Idk why but when i was really young i would watch howcast videos non stop
u prolly know how to do a lotta random things now
This was so helpfull it took me one hour to get the thread through the needle till I saw this video.
Kimberly Munoz it took me all day to get it up the stairs and to actually work
Lol
I am a kid but learning..... OK no I can't.
Great tutorial! And, from 2013, the quality of the camera is amazing
Great video for beginners... trying to find something for a friend to watch & help her with her 1st sewing machine... but the only 1 labelled for beginners on you tube was just some one flexing with a machine no beginner would ever buy!
“put the thread through the... this piece”
😂
You just made my day...Thank you! Things we take for granted 🤦🏻♀️, I last used my machine three years ago.
Thankyou finally someone with Simple instructions that are easy to follow.
Was even the same machine as mine
Same! Lucky!!
Thank you for this really helpful tutorial! I just received a sewing machine and I had no idea how to do that (how to thread a sewing machine), thank you again 😊
thanks so much!! my sister just gave me her sewing machine that she no longer uses, i can’t wait to get more into sewing!!
omg, i was so confused with the needle threader until i watched this vid :sob: tysm for making it so simple!
Who's watching this cause now they gotta make masks to fight the Coronavirus
Jovan Granado I’m just stuck inside and have my grandma’s sewing machine, Singer 237 machines do be old tho. And really f-ing heavy 😂
Tailoring is so much easier to level in WoW!

Exactly what I needed, thank you!

I saw this 6th grader threading it while talking to his friend, like it was super simple

They turned it into a 2 part video
Well threading the bobbin is different from threading the machine...
What’s a bobbin?
This video is soooo helpful I've been trying all morning and it didn't work but now i understand thank u soooo much ❤️❤️❤️
What a great teacher you are.
Couldn’t figure out where the hand was thank you so much for the clear explanation💕
OMG I HAVE THE SAME EXACT MACHINE AS HER THANK GOD I FOUND THIS VIDEO
I didn't realize it was going to need a PhD to thread my sewing machine!
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I have been searching forever to find a simple one.
I love to see but rarely have time to; it’s nice to have these refresher videos available! Thanks!
Thank you, I loved you tutorial on how to thread and wind your bobbin on the sewing machine. It was very helpful, and simple instructions, I am ready to start sewing, and start new projects. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you for actually being helpful in upper threading ! now I understand it much better than before.
Your a nice teacher! I realized after that I watched this and liked it most likely a year ago. Lol. It’s my husband machine.
can I use your video on my website (which is about blogging on sewing machine)
Thank you so much for your advice of using a magnifying glass. I've got one today and I was able to thread tge needle quickly!!!
Very helpful. Thank you. I am just about to go pick up my new sewing machine and embark on this new journey, so I need all the help I can get, especially to know how to thread a needle to start with. ^_^. Thank you for the tutorial.

Thanks for the clear explanation
Thank you
Nice production. Thank you. (Would have been nice if it included the bottom half of the process as well [bobbin], but that's okay.)
I am using this for family and consumer sciences
What about the bottom part?
+Jaunty Jackson just jam it in there. it's fine?
Bran One different video
Bobbin*
Glad I saw this before I threw my machine at my wall. hope it helps :)

Super helpful thank you 🥰
This is so intimidating because I forgot to take a picture of the threading configuration before I fixed my wive's sewing machine because the needle wouldn't go up and down.
You have the exact the same sewing as what I have.
Hi. U mentioned threads back to front, front to back n left to right? What are d significants of these differences? Could u explain? I'm a beginner kindergarten type

My machine does NOT have a threader! Can I get an attachment? That is so cool!!
Hi, I sewed a blouse and skirt, but when I pull the thread out when I'm done sewing, I have loose thread and I'm unsure of how to keep it from running? Thanks!
Wow amazing thank you!
Almost got it the self threader giving me an issue lol I might have to get a magnifying glass anyway 🤭
First problem is that thread should be fed off the top - not as she mounted it here. This will cause problems as well. Only horizontal would threads should be placed on the spool on top of the machine as used in this video.
Very helpful
wait down and around - where's that part you hook it to?
With this video I made two stuffed animals for my little cousins birthday (I’m 9)
Got to start somewhere
Omg why is my sewing machine so different? I've been tring to find a video with a sewing machine similar to mine but everyone's is different
Same concept!! Mines diff and except for the last 2 steps it’s works
Very good video. See, you can explain something without the nomenclature. That’s the benefit of video. At least she didn’t say doohickey!
What brand sewing machine did you use?
Thank you so very much.
I got this machine from my friend. I can't get it set in properly. Can someone help me please 😊
Awesome, thank you
I use a metric 9 thread on a k6 what size thread is that!?
why does the thread keep coming out of the needle. I don't know why it does that
I have the same issue. that and somehow i end up with 3 or 4 strands of thread. somehow the thread broke inside?? so confused.
I’m having the same issue did u guys figure it out
thank u po.
thanks!
very similar to the Sunbeam SB700, thank you
yo i have inherited my grandma’s sewing machine and i have never sewn before in my life. And there is no manual to this sewing machine. I don’t even know what kind
last time i threaded a sewing machine was y7 design technology classes 😭
Thank you!
Haven’t sewn anything in 17yrs
I have a problem. My machine's lever thing that goes up and down, doesn't have a clear space for me to put the thread through I'm scared I'm going to break the machine. I have a brother simplicity SB700T.
Omg I thought the same thing, with mine I realized of you just run the thread up and raise the lever as high as it goes it threads it automatically
Thank you so much sweet girl you really helped me
What about threading the bobbin? X
Thanks!
Very helpful :)
