My grandmother tought me how to thread a sewing machine when I was a kid I used to sew all the time now I'm 44 years old and I completely forgot this is a great tutorial to get me back sewing I have a brand new sewing machine in the closet I haven't used ever because I couldn't get it threaded thanks
When threading a bobbin, the woman did not use the thread tensioner provided on the left side of the machine on top. Instead, she ran the thread directly to the bobbin, which can cause tangling issues sometimes. The proper way is to run the thread from the spool, around the tensioner, then to the bobbin. If the tensioner is set to the proper tension, the thread will wind on the bobbin in an even pattern and you probably will not have to guide the thread with your fingers to fill the bobbin evenly. Most importantly, the chances of tangling the thread as it comes off the bobbin while you sew are reduced.
Thank you. I spent forever trying to load my darn bobbin back into the machine before realizing I just needed help. Your short and sweet demo did the trick!
I overcomplicated switching out the bobbin and your video helped me put it back together. Thank you :)
You ROCK!! Seriously! I watched so many and they didn't explain as well as you did! Thank You! You made each step simple and understandable!!
Thank you! I was just about to give up... My cushions are done! This is an excellent tutorial.
Other videos weren't helpful you were actually really helpful and thanks for the help!!!
Great video for beginners... trying to find something for a friend to watch & help her with her 1st sewing machine... but the only 1 labelled for beginners on you tube was just some one flexing with a machine no beginner would ever buy!
Thanks for sharing this clear guidance--you helped us sort out the myths of all the thread connections. Many thanks again and please do come up with many such hints.
i was really losing my mind with my oldschool sewing machine. I finally got it to work, thanks!
Thanks for putting this up.
It just so happens that the ancient White 477 machine uses the same kind of oscillating sewing hook motion and bobbin case/carrier, only the carrier/bobbin is perpendicular to the Baby Lock bobbin arrangement. (as an aside, Kenmore is set up similarly to your Baby Lock BL9 . Baby Lock provides an online maintenance manual that lists all critical setup distances and timings.)
So by watching your video, plus one other, a Kenmore, I was able to see what was out of time on the 477, and set it up accordingly... and now it works correctly.
Wow , I just got a sewing machine and the instructions where super hard to understand but now I know !!! Thanks
Way better than all the useless top videos. I'm grateful
Great video!!!...you helped me with thread my bobbin on an antique singer sewing machine.

Ja ja ja!!!
I take a clothing class and the teacher did a very poor job of explaining and everyone in my class seemed to learn it except me haha so now when I go back Monday I will actually know how to work my machine :)
literally in the same shoes
Very clear concise instructions. Great tutorial. Loved it.
Great video.
Thanks for sharing.
Help me alot. Thanks again
Thanks for the video. Sewing machines are a bit mystical, so I had no idea where to start.
You are awesome. I was stuck with my new Usha Janome machine. Thank you so much
Awesome! Thank you! Really helps clarify the less-than-stellar instructions I got with my new machine.

Lol me and my brother have been wanting to try some things for sooooo long and my mom didn't have time to show us so here we are on UA-cam. This tutorial is awesome, thanks so much! Also great camera work it really helped make everything clear
Thanks for the good guidance, you helped us😍
Thank you :) very clear instructions x
THANK YOU! Simple, and to the point.
Thanks much that was very easy to follow and quick tutorial
The only video that helped! thankyou!
honey, the lil small wheel towards the front on the top of your machine, if you put the thread around that and THEN back to the bobbin when threading the bobbin, it judges the tension and automatically allows the thread to go up and down evenly on your bobbin, without needing to use your finger at all
Woo hoo! Super useful comment, thank you!
I thought the bottom bobbin was pointless. Thank you, kind lady from 9 years ago showing me the error of my ways. 😅
Thanks, the whole bobbin thing had me spinning at first. No pun intended...
To correction things.
1. Spooling your bobbing. It got a tightener it is the little black nob at the first eye when you thread your machine. Pull the thread towards you, when you come to the black nob go around it, and back to the bobbing. YES the tread CROSSES IT SELF on the nob. that's the point self tightening.
2. You used the "selftighting nob for spooling" in your main threading of the machine. It is NOT part of main treading. See above in number 1.
All this is according to my manuale for the sewing machine. Best Regards.
Very helpful and concise. Thank you!
Could you make more videos on using this specific sewing machine please? PLEASEE
Thank you so much your video was very helpful 😊
Thank you this was super helpful
I definitely landed myself in hot waters here being bored and inquisitive today. Who knew you needed to go through a maze before I can start destroying all types of fabrics trying to make something with my noncreative, impatient, just get to the good stuff attitude. A good post, added a like to it. ( now make me a backpack with your machine, hehehehe )
Mike Ate
Exactly what I needed, thanks for posting this video up
thank you very much for explaining this , it made the process really simple. thanks
Three funny things in this video: 1) thread should, I think, go from inside bobbin to out, then trimmed at the end (not from out to in; 2) the bobbin winding should go around the tension button at the other end of the machine; and 3) Why not release the clutch so the needle doesn't go up and down?
Andy Ruina thank you, I thought that I m crazy and stupid.
She needs to learned from the best. You are a smart teacher.
awesome tutorial. .so easy..Thanks
Thanks!!! Darling.. I want to start sewing and I don't know anything about machines.. I do my thing by hand.. Thanks thanks thanks.
Thank you so much, my Singer did not give clear directions in the manual.
GREAT VIDEO!!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
mad props,, my problem wasnt putting down the foot before sewing and it kept getting jamb'd up.
This really helps! Thanks & great video.
I'm such a novice, I didn't even know you had to wind the bobbin on your own. I thought they just came like that lol thank you!
Thank you so much for your help!
I have a Jaguar Mate 386, looks similar to the machine featured here. My question: How do you disengage the clutch when winding a bobbin?
Thankyou, this was very helpful and easy to follow! :D
Good job you are doing a good job thank you
Very informative
thx! although a re shoot with focus would be nice ;)
How about more detailed instructions, please. I just broke the sewing needle. How do you get the bobbin thread to come from the bottom?
Thanks! This helped a lot

Thanks for the how to
She is so good!
I need info on the upper controls, tension, settings in general
It doesn't matter if the bobbin thread is clock wise or counter clock wise?
I know this video is old but I’m at a bit of a loss. I have the newer version of this machine and even when I thread everything right the top threads always and up getting caught in the hookrace. I’ve adjusted the bobbin tension and the top thread tension but no luck. The company I bought it from aren’t helping either. Any ideas?
I have never used a sewing machine yet but I have just bought one.
But even I know you are threading the bobbin wrong.
Thank you sooo much! It worked💕
I'm having some trouble. My machine keeps saying "check rethread". I can't make a stitch stick. Any advise?
I bought a small 'second hand' machine, and the thread keeps breaking? Might be the tension doesn't adjust?
Also there isn't a bobbin cover, the bobbin just drops in...or is it missing? Does the thread direction matter clockwise or counter?
Is it me or is it hopelessly broken?
the information is so to the point everyone seems to look over the fact its out of focus (Y)
What happen when u are sewing and the tread is just cutting and the sewing jumping given to much gab?
Great tutorial, easy to follow even as a complete beginner. The focus is all over the place, could be worth re-shooting this so you can actually see what is being shown! Otherwise thanks, I'm all set up now!
Please help! I’m confused and new to sewing, my sewing machine isn’t doing anything when I press the foot petal. The bobbin winder is spinning though, help me!
In my case the bottom thread wouldn't come out 😢 what I do? 👀
good job ! I am also a Teacher of Dress making and Designing :)
thanks for the video but... holy out of focus!
Sorry about that! This was our first experiment with how-to videos but we may make a new one soon! :)
Thank you Nicole
My bottom thread isn't coming up. I don't know why.
Thank you so much, you rock!
Where can I get a bobbin case?
It seems so simple yet mine does not want to grab the bottom thread. Something isn't right.
Get a better camera and camera op if you're going to shoot tutorials like this. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much.
How to infinity your sewing machine needle size ?
