I’ve had mine for 15 years. The 21 mp generates an image suitable for high res commercial printing at A3 size. Which is why we bought it for my graphic design studio. Its generous. Never seen any dust spots, thought that was a thing of the past. Never had a CF card fail. The battery life in this thing is astonishing. Its not driving multiple screens so it just keeps on banging out photos. It’s a tank. It has an easy to relate to logic. Pick up, shoot. Oh and yeah, full frame.
The original 5D was a dust magnet, so the removal system with this model was a massive enhancement, although it rarely gets mentioned. Like you, my 5D3 never shows dust spots. Believe it or not, the Royal Mail will later today be delivering to me a 5D2 with precisely 120 shutter actuations from new. I don't think I've ever been so thrilled with the arrival of a new/old camera, although I own quite a few.
Haha I haven't touched the OG 5D but if it's anything like the canon 2000d 🤢 that thing brings in dust for fun. You have got an absolute deal there, only 120!? I love this camera it will stay with me for as long as possible.
@@35mmgravel_ Yes, an eBay steal although naturally I paid a bit more than average for it. I tend to wrap new cameras up in cotton wool too much, but have decided to use the 5D2 as a kind of workhorse. But for sure, I'll get the shutter count into four figures by the end of the year and as I say, am really looking forward to it. I believe the focus system is a bit rubbish, but am fully prepared for that.

I'm still on a 5Dii and happy as ever, compared with my F1 and Tri-x i used in the 1980s the 5Dii is a true marvel. Just look at the fabulous photos professionals took with the 5Dii when it was released, proving that a skilled person can create magnificent workmanship with it. The camera has not deteriorated and got worse with time, it's still as good as it was when released 😉 Your own Pix in this video proves the same point... great shots BTW. In addition, liked that your video is not "perfection"... left in the hiccups like whats the name of the card... could not insert the card again... left the camera in oneshot mode when testing frames per second etc... this made the video SO MUCH MORE realistic + fun to watch... You won yourself a new subscriber here... thanks a million for the video...
I bought my Canon 5D Mk ii for £320 postage included, it only had a shutter count of 6000. I bought an EOS 28-80mm telephoto for £50 and a nifty 50mm f1.8 for a further £50.
The 20 mega pixel threshold meant professional press reproduction on an A3 spread or use on a bill board. It was the camera that delivered. And it still delivers. Going to put Magic Lantern on it and see how we go from there. I love this tank of a camera.
My first full frame camera bought new in 2011 at a bargain. One of the most beautiful cameras ever made. I've been a working photographer for a bit over fifty years, I still use it regularly even though I bought a Lumix S1R. If you want a wonderful bargain today buy one of these.

I had the option to purchase a (used) 5D II and 6D with $200 each (quite cheap because the photographer just want to let go his gears for mirrorless). But I have already used the 5D II in the past and didn’t really like the CF Card (those sandisk are still expensive) so I bought the 6D. I can say that the colours are more or less the same between each other. The colours came from 6D look better than 5D III(my fav camera which have shot about 110k shutter count). Anyways, great video!
Oh if you get some good glass on it, it would be incredible. It's also weather sealed so with a pro lens it would be perfect for a photographer in the UK 🤣☔. I agree the CF cards aren't cheap, because they're in demand I guess and probably not produced in high numbers. Id like to get my hands on a 6D 😊 maybe soon 😉
It's hard to choose between the 5DII and the 6D. The 5DII has the better shutter, better viewfinder (slightly). The 6D is slightly smaller, only goes up to 1/4000s, feels more prosumer than pro, but has a silent mode shutter. As for the colors, the 5DII comes out more earthy/rich brown tones, the 6D is closer to the original 5D with the creamy, sandy tones. I love both.
The 5Ds were a phenomenal camera series. Built like a tank, great color resolution, and with enough full frame megapixels to produce good quality photos even 2023.

Some/most of us carried more than several cameras (different focal length, B&W/Color, negative/slide & ASA/ISO) back then, and pros might carry more. Personally, I started out with a Nikon F2A + motor drive and backup by a Nikon FE2 & Hasselblad 500 C/M over 45 years ago as an enthusiast. Then there was bracketing. For studio shots, we used Medium Format camera that had the Polaroid Back option for previews. With DSLR at the beginning, photographers went with small size memory cards to avoid putting all the eggs into one basket.

There was a point where he was doing the pictures of the bride and groom and family at a nearby park, and he told everyone to "hold on a minute" as, he had finished a roll, and the camera began to rewind the film. We all stood there in wonderment, reminiscing, as the camera made a loud, long mechanical wizzing film rewinding sound that everyone old enough had probably forgotten about, and everyone too young were probably confused by. Nostalgia… 😎
Hard to say is it good or not. I bought one to upgrade the 5D when it came out and use it up to recently as my Nikon D3 backup camera. AF sucked because Canon's dual pixel AF wasn't ready at that time, hence it still used the original 5D AF. Also, the WB wasn't great, and the use of flash was still essential. Thus, only the higher MP, video and affordability make it a good DSLR choice back then. Hence, it is a good choice if it is within one's expectation, but I cannot say it is when compare with my D3 and Z9. 🙂
@@blizzbee Workable if there is nothing to compare with or low expectation. Thus, I would have continued to use the D3 if I didn't upgrade it to the Z9.
People buying newer camera because they think new features mening better image quality What is wrong ., People buying mirrorless cameras becaouse they think it is better .,wrong again.., That is like u say electric cars are better than regular fuel cars., Generally people doesn’t know much.,
In my opinion, the low light performance is good. Don't get me wrong there are better cameras out there for low light, like Sony but you'll be paying an arm and a leg.
@@35mmgravel_ yeah not looking to spend a fortune but was tempted to go old skool with a ff canon. Have seen a 5d mk2 for £200 but not sure if I should spend an extra £100 for a used 6D as I hear they are good in low light (for their age)

I used to work a a portrait photographer tears ago..with a EOS 5D MK2. I just picked one up for 180 USD. It's amazingly cheap! :)
