CYCLING 112km to my FAVOURITE Place in SPAIN

In this video, I take on my first 100km ride from Bilbao to Elantxobe, and let’s just say, it was brutal. I push through the challenging hills and gruelling distance, dropping more than a few f-bombs along the way. On the way back, I meet a helpful local named Maitane, who basically becomes my human GPS. When I reached Elantxobe, the breath-taking seaside views make the suffering almost worth i...

Join me as I climb 700 meters from Bilbao into the mountain of La Arboleda! La Arboleda is a beautiful little town up in the mountains on the outskirts of Bilbao. It's very similar to the New Forest in the UK, where the animals roam free. I climb up some really steep gradients, 11%, 14% & more. The scenery along the route was as beautiful as they come! Day 3 on the Camino! A communal dinner, more friends and more wine! the wine was a terrible idea and I will not be drinking it again whilst doing the Camino haha. We arrived in the beautiful city of Pamplona and highly recommend grabbing some food in Iruñazarra! El pulpo was delish! This is day 2 of the Camino de Santiago and we walked from Roncesvalles to Zubiri. We recommend places to stay and places not to stay. The hotel we stayed in in Roncesvalles was not a good one at all. However the Albergue in Zubiri was great with a great communal dinner to. Highly recommend doing the Camino, everyone you meet are great spirited and perfect vibes. 00:00 - 01:38 - Intro: How we s...

Why I bought a Micro Four Thirds Lumix G7 in 2024
Переглядів 31 тис.Рік тому
I love my Canon 5D MKii, look I know this is about a completely different camera, but bear with. My Canon 5D MKii has a 21MP Fullframe high end raw files format. This camera is an absolute beast and should give me better image quality than the Lumix G7 any day of the week. So why did I buy the Lumix G7 then? Now I own a MFT there's a huge range well designed lenses at a good price. The MFT body...
Congratulations 🎉You made it and what an achievement.
Thanks Grandma ❤️
Loving the showcase of the Bibao area! One suggestion if I may? Instead of linking to your Strava account (I'm following you now) could you link to the actual ride featured in each of your films?
Thanks Hugh! I will start doing this moving forward. I'll also go back through my old videos and add this 🙌🏼
1:40 How are you not shooting in 4K but uploading in 4K ??
Haha homework check ✅ I use movavi so it allows me to render in 4k but you're right I shoot in 2.7k or something like that
Wrong video this is 1080p but yes o still do the 4k render
@@benwootton Nice ! Which lens do you prefer with Limix G7 ? And which profile ?
@withlove1887 I use the 25mm 1.7 which is actually a 3.4* because on the M43 you lose half of the F-stop. I use presents I create in lightroom
What bike is it? Lovely video
Cheers Joey, the bike is a Cannondale Topstone 3 🚲 👍🏼
You Smashed it 🎉 what an achievement! 😗🙌🏻💕 xx
Nicely done Ben😂 What a beautiful adventure👍🏽 Keep doing it
Cheers Stan! Hows the Skateboarding 🛹?
@@benwootton not good it’s fuckin too hard, or I’m just too old🤣 Still keep skating every week though🤘🏽
@stanjump good man! Haha that's how I felt doing this bike ride. Like an old ironing board trying to straighten out it's legs (all creeky)
@@benwootton haha old body can’t catch up with young mind. I know how it feels 🥲

60 Euros on Omelettes NO WAY
They were €15 each and we ate 4... 😓
@@benwootton Oh c'mon that is not so bad. and why the anti-French vibe?
@idandez haha it's only a joke but they're not the most inviting nation 🤣
@@benwootton thanks for the reply. I'm an American who worked in France for a while and didn't find them uninviting at all. They didn't like entitled tourists for sure but otherwise they were fine. Anyway good luck growing your channel. lol I was thinking of following for the El Camino pieces but I'm good for now. Ta.
@idandez I agree, it's just a stereotype I like to play on. Like anywhere in the world there are uninviting people around. However when in st jean pied du port, I'm English and my wife is Spanish and they didn't want to know anything let alone speak English or Spanish (which are their neighbours). Maybe because it's rural, I don't know. But it's the start of the biggest pilgrimage of the world they should be happy there's tourism there. Maybe some people who have done the Camino can back me up here haha
Panasonic Lumix "Legendary"G7🔥❤️.
We did the upper route. It was Gorgeous!
Unfortunately it was closed when we went to do it! Lots of climbs! Looks amazing
@@benwootton We hiked it last year May to June. We dream of returning everyday. Thank You for sharing
@donm8567 no worries! It's a very special experience. So sentimental to everyone I think
What day did you start?
@Getoverit-001 I think we stayed the 30th March
if the camera is so good, why does the video seem to show the focus hunting at times (even if these are short periods).
Is that a different route that I’ve seen on every other video?
It might be, yes. We went the slightly shorter/ easier route as the other route was shut for being too dangerous. We didn't pass by Orisson.
Autofocus works well in avchd 1080 and 4k! Never experienced focus hauting in that format
G7 for landscapes, manual focus with peaking, ISO 200, tripod for low shutter speeds if required, more than good enough!
What app are you using for the end of day stats?
This is from my Garmin watch, the app is Garmin Connect.
I knew you were recording this on the G7 right away due to the autofocus 😅
Nice video, when did you walk the Camino? Which season?
Thank you very much! We went the first week of April, avoiding the crowds and hot weather.
Y not G85..
Nice video! Where did y stay in SJDP?
Thank you so much! We stayed in hotel la villa esponda
Amazing video. Thank you for sharing. subd & 👍17
Thank you so much for the kind words and support 🙌
It was lovely to have you for company❤ BTW I have become stronger now. I can walk 24km like 5hrs😎 hope you enjoy the next journey on Camino. Ciao
💪 lets go Stan! That is a strong pace! 💪
You talk ot much, just show the journey'
Thanks for watching 😎
Ben and Alba, nice videos. What is the app you use to keep track of the stats? Thank you in advance.
Thanks Pablo, I use the Garmin connect app with my Garmin watch. Worth the investment IMO
Hi guys i walked the Camino in 2014, you should be able to ajust your packs so that the weight is on your hips.
❤
Absolutely amazing Ben. I invite to you guys Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower
Thank you for your kind words and invite! I'm a little bad with heights so I'm not sure I'd be too comfortable haha. But it sounds incredible!
Are you walking this now or posting after you have completed the walk to Santiago? If real time then looking forward to following your real time journey.👍 I start France’s route from SJPDP on 6th May😊
Hey Allan, this is not real time unfortunately. My wife and I live in Spain so we're able to do little segments at a time. We finished in Estella, so 5 days of the Camino. Spoiler alert it was amazing and the first day needs respect as it's a tough climb.
@@benwoottonit’s a tough climb because it usually is the 1st day. Once you get through in a row, there’s not really anything really tough as you’re getting used to walking up and down
Yes and no, I think this is the toughest day from the whole Camino. With a climb of 1,400 meters I doubt that any other day has this incline. I know there's a day where you walk 30km but have heard it's not as strenuous.
@@benwoottonthere’s another tough climb between Valcarce and Cebreiro and Fonfria. Over 1600m during the day. Quite a tough one, but as said not as tough as the beginning as you got used to it. Of course, that’s another story if you do segments only
Yea we don't acclimatize as well 😂 thank you for the good information 👌
Enjoying your vlog. Thanks for sharing. Wear did you get your plastic passport pouches?
Hey, thank you Mary! You can get them where you get your passport stamped in the local iglesia. We got ours from a Primark travel gel bag 😂
Thanks 🤣
And i like the intro Ben :)
Haha thank you very much, it means a lot 🙏
I miss my G7 to, so now i gonna Buy me a used one :)
I got the G7 as a second M43 camera to my GX85, really like shooting with it. Found a second one used but in mint condition, great cameras.
crap
🤣 thank you mate 👍
Are you usually using yours with a 25mm 1.7? I just bought mine body only with a 12-60 kit lens and it feels heavy to me. I have ordered a 25mm and will see how that feels. I am a small woman and not so young.
I would say it's a pretty light lens, however the other camera I own is a canon 5d mkii and that thing is a bit of a tank
This must be 5 words per edit, a YT record!
Cheers dude 😎!
Someone actually just gave me one of these yesterday ( after I bought an Olympus body off him ). I've never had any interest in this particular lens but after using it last night I'm actually blown away with how fast and sharp it is. I also prefer the angle of view to my 17mm Oly lens tbh. Nice vid, thanks mate!
It is very fast and thanks for watching I appreciate your support ❤️
A lot of focus seeking......🤦♀️
can u do a photo session with this camera plz? like portraits with a model, in bright or low light condition. We would love that, almost everyone who has this camera only say something about video capabilities, so we definitely gonna appreciate it... Thank you so much bro!!
I'll get a photo session done, no worries what so ever! Cheers for your support 💪
Thank you bro!!! I'll be waiting for😊@@benwootton
Masochism?
Please elaborate
God I loved my G7, I had it for about 5.5 years before it randomly died on me in the middle of a shoot during one of my college projects. I ended up borrowing one of my friends a7si, my first time using full frame and I absolutely fell in love with the full frame look. I just ordered an s5, but I'll never forget how absolutely amazing the G7 is especially for the price.
How did it die?
I'm still using G85. IBIS worth it
Had high hopes for G7 but after about 1000 photos and many video. ediited to the highest content I could create. My S21 Ultra and iPhone 13 performed better in all comparison test. Without post editing. And 10X easier to use on a daily basis. High end Camera struggle to compete with new flagship phones
The price of the phone will probably come in at triple the cost of this camera... Also a phone doesn't have interchangeable lenses. There's an argument to be had here
This is the camera I've used on my channel for years now. I've attempted to "upgrade" to a few other cameras a few times and always ended up sending them back (either the video quality wasn't good enough, or such a miniscule improvement that I couldn't justify the cost.) When I do my talking head shots, I set the camera in manual focus, and tap to focus on my phone with the Panasonic app. It eliminates the focus jumping, but for photos, I've never had a single problem with autofocus.
Want likes? Just jump in without burning a full minute of lead in.
Cheers John!
And what about af for vlog
I have this lens. It is inexpensive. Being made out of plastic means it is light. That doesn’t mean the lenses are either inexpensive or made out of plastic. At f1.7 it is fast. I wonder how much better the Panasonic-Leica 25mm f1.4 is. Better built? Yes. Faster lens? Yes. How much sharper? Unknown. Anybody who can talk about the PL25 and Olympus 25mm lenses would be appreciated. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
The GX8 is 20mp and a bit lighter with IBIS. The GX85, GX9 as well. The G100 too… 😏
I always thought this lens and the Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 are the best first two lenses someone could buy for the µ4/3 system, to truly get an understanding of the format, or photography in general… I have since ventured off into f1.2 primes and f1.7 zooms. What one can accomplish professionally with this format is amazing, and much more affordable than anything else on the market… 🤔
