The "More Than Words" band was called Extreme... Both Extreme and Mr. Big are primarily heavy metal bands, but their ballads were their biggest hits... More Than Words came out at approximately the same time as "To Be With You" give or take a year. Both were from around 1990-91. Eric Martin (lead vocalist for Mr. Big) was phenomenal in this song and is one of rock's underrated vocalists. Mr. Big is considered a "supergroup" given that it was comprised of all highly accomplished musicians. Both this band and Extreme kind of got lost in the overwhelming surge in popularity of grunge music and the emerging alternative rock craze kicking bands like these into the suddenly not hip category.
Had a chance to see Mr. Bigg live at a local venue. They absolutely do put on a great show live, and most of the audience were women. They do have some rocking songs, but mostly ballads. Great choice Blondie! As always Harri it was a most enjoyable reaction!
I have requested this song to so many reactors and watched all of them. This is the first time I’ve come across you. You have my subscription. Great reaction.

This sounded so familiar but I’m pretty sure I have never heard it before. The chorus reminded me of “Mull of Kintyre” by Paul McCartney and Wings for some reason 🤷🏻♀️. In any case, this is lovely. Nice pick from Miss Blondie and, of course, Harri. It’s very pleasant to listen to. 🌺✌️
Très bonne réaction, Harri. Merci beaucoup! Cette chanson me rappelle ma jeunesse… ouais, j’suis d’accord…ce n’est pas seulement l’harmonie mais aussi la percussion qui est impressionnant
Spot on analysis, Harri. Which is to say: you described how I feel better than I could have said it. Terrific song and performance. I’ve always been unable to look away or accept any interruptions when I have seen it. It was a huge seller in the early 90s. Thank you.
Thank you Harri for your great reaction. It was a toss-up either live or video. I went with the video as this song doesn't showcase their live performances, no drums for instance. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Love and Peace ✌ ❤🤘
I seem to remember initially seeing this on the BBC's Top of the Pops, as a 'pre-release exclusive' - had never previously seen that happen for an unknown band (in the UK). Not unlike this and Extreme's 'More than Words', is, 'A BETTER MAN', by British band, THUNDER - was a top 20 hit in the UK, in 1993. It's more emotionally driven, and definitely worth checking out.
Mr. Big was the sh!t. "To Be With You" was a bonafide #1 hit for the band, but it gave no hint of what Mr. Big was really all about, which was playing unapologetic, virtuosic, face-melting, mind-blowing hard rock. Case in point, their first single: "Addicted to That Rush" ua-cam.com/video/GoSD0DLQII0/v-deo.html They opened for RUSH on two successive tours. After the second one, RUSH decided never to have a band open for them again. That ought to tell you something.
@@HarriBestReactions Oh my goodness Harri . You are right .. my sincere apologies .. Just googled Chris .. it was another Smokey member that passed .. And apologies to Chris and his family who may have read of his premature passing !! 😬🤔. As a redemption, please could you have a listen to Don Mc Clean , Castles in the Air .. or John Denver Perhaps Love Thank you Harri .
Yes it was guys. I had forgotten that song. Thank you . . There was a famous actor named after after you Steve 🤔🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Bet you've never heard that before .. !!??
I would FREAK OUT when this came on the radio. SO. GOOD.
Music... The Great Equalizer. No matter what. Everyone loves music.
Mr. Big is a very underrated band and that’s a shame! This song is musically and lyrically genius.
I still wear a mood ring! I'm a 70's kid! Great reaction!

So sad. They were special.
Love both extreme and Mr big

TV Tropes calls them a "supremely gifted collective of musicians."
Mr Big : "Romeo." Been watching for so long now and never made a request before.
You are thinking of the group Extreme! This man has one fantastic voice!!
Eric is a soul singer first and foremost, put him in a virtuoso's band, it can only be magic, man.
I agree. This was a beautiful moment in time. Perfection. PS HarriBest you have a great voice!
“Waiting on a line of greens and blues” is a reference to mood rings. The colors are anger and envy.
What are mood rings?

Always got a weird magical type feeling when i put my mood ring on in the 70s. Always turned black ☺
They got popular again briefly in the 90s too
Love this!

Please listen to "Alive and Kicking". No one ever does this song, no matter how much I ask, but it's my favorite by this band.

I didn’t recognize this until they started singing the chorus. Always liked this but never knew the artists nor seen them. Really fun!

They remind me of a cross between Bon Jovi and Journey. Great analysis Harri
Extreme sang more than words 👍🏻😊
Eric Martin has an amazing voice. He also had some solo albums that are worth a listen
Try just take my heart from the same album

I remember being in the 5th grade riding to school with a friend and his mom played this song everyday lol

Fred Armisen on guitar lol
His voice is just fantastic .. Chris Norman is the guy from Smokey. He has sadly passed away Harri 🙏🏻💔
Nooooo Sally 😁🙈..Chris is still very much alive!

@HarriBest Reactions You can probably find a live version on here somewhere. There's a live version on "Mr. Big" YT channel.
There is a live version.
Harri you absolutely MUST react to "isn't it a pity" (take 27) by George Harrison
Clapton… more than words was Clapton.
Nope, it sounds like Clapton but it's Extreme.
rod stewarts son ! hahaha
Have you reacted to any "Mothers Finest"? If not, please do
Is this the same band that sang Romeo ?
I was thinking the same thing but too embarrassed to comment. It's good to know I'm not the only person that remembers that.
