League and fans have always been blood thirsty, that's why this amazing line was destroyed forever a few days later. Horton would've had an amazing career. B's could've won multiple cups with him.
Remember when I was a kid watching the Habs beat the Bruins in the '69 semi-finals thanks to 3 heartbreaking OT goals. Over 40 years later it was awesome pay-back to see Boston win the opening series versus Montreal with 3 OT goals of their own!
Man this hits me right in the feels. Prime Chara/Seids, Recchi sailing off into the sunset on top. You forget how much of an impact depth players like Ryder, Kaberle, Peverly, Paille etc had with this team. This one just hits different man, directly in the feels. Good work!

Grew up in Atlantic Canada, surrounded by Habs and Leafs fans mostly. Ridiculed for being a B's fan throughout school. To be able to beat the Habs enroute to the Cup was so satisfying. My Dad was a huge B's fan and the reason I grew up one too, and to be able to celebrate that win with him was something special. Watched every game, and never counted the B's out, you could just tell they had something special that year. Was also awesome to sweep the Flyers, since the year before in 2010 the Bruins blew a 3-0 series lead, and a 3 goal lead in game 7 to lose the series. Now here in 2024 Marchand at 36 years old is the only player left off this team. I hope he can win 1 more Cup (at least) before he retires.
The Canucks should have pulled Luongo during that game 3. Leaving him in just broke his confidence and he wasn’t really the same for the rest of the series. He was never really the same after that actually. It could have just been age but I think that series was a huge blow to his confidence.
I was at that 7-3 Flyers game. (I'm a Flyers fan) and I remember just getting so excited with my family and then we got robbed of $1,600. Last NHL playoff game I ever attended.
I mean you didn’t “get robbed”. I understand being super disappointed that your team lost but you got to watch the amazing game of hockey live ! And atleast you got to watch your team score 3 times I mean shit. I get the disappointment though. I’m a Vegas fan and was at the 2019 game 7 vs the Sharks when we were up 3-0 halfway through the 3rd period and then the refs decided to hand the game to the sharks by giving us a 5 min major and the sharks then scored 4 times in a row , we tied it with less than a minute to go and then lost in overtime. I’ll never trust comfortable leads ever again. Shit sucked .
Now that’s what I call adding insult to injury!!! It’s bad enough seeing your team lose, but to see them get THROUGHLY DOMINATED FROM START TO FINSH only to realize YOU HAD TO PAY $1,600 FOR THE PRIVILEGE….DAMN!! As a nearly 40 year old B’s fan I feel for you bro (even though I hate the Flyers hahaha)

same here i was 8 years old (almost 9) and yah what a fun day to see the bruins break the drought. This and ofc 2018 will be the dopest cups ever for me since im a caps fan and ofc bruisn being second favorite team. I'd put 2019 in here as well maybe even before 2011 had the bruins won game 7 of the final that year but oh well. Obviously gotta give the canucks lotta credit as well given they barely scored any goals this series despite going a full 7 games mostly cause of a cluster of guys playing with various ailments (unlike the bruins who were pretty healthy) and ofc were the presidents trophy winners that year The canucks tbh though were very lucky to simply get out of the first round since they nearly got reverse swept by an 8th seed in the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks who had ofc beaten them in six games in the second round the previous 2 years prior. Imagine if the hawks had won that game 7 in OT instead of them and what would've likely happened to the canucks organization.
the Bruins knock off Montreal is still one of my favorites and the way they just crushed Phily was great. the only thing missing would of been crushing shittsburgh love love love the Bruins
It's funny because the Flyers came back in 3 games down to 3 the year prior and Boston was about to end they're 28 year 3rd round drought and got robbed followed by the Flyers losing in game 6 of the finals followed by getting swept by the Bruins in the second round next year followed by the Bruins winning the cup

The only real difference between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs is Tim Thomas. Its actually pretty astonishing how similar both franchises are when you look past 2011.
I will always look back on this series and see how badly Carey Price played. Then I'll realize the way he played that 1st round series is the way he always played the past 3 seasons at least. Then I realize since Price plays the way he did in this Boston series that Montreal will never win a Stanley Cup with Carey Price as their starting goaltender. Then I realize he's getting paid 10.5 million dollars (cap space wise) and doing next to nothing but laying an egg on the ice and realize nobody's going to want him. This series is the case for Price's decline. Thank you Bruins for exposing Price's bad sides and how he really isn't the best goaltender in the league.
Fun fact: if you count superstition and “in-spirit” then you can argue that the Bruins won all 4 series on home ice, thanks to Nathan Horton’s water bottle stunt before game 7 in the finals with melted TD Garden ice
So many goals from sitting right in front of the net and of course getting those dirty rebounds. Goaltender interference did a lot to reduce that I think.
